Question: did your alpha stand come with a small connector piece that attaches to belt and fits in at top of stand, near the rear of the seat? Doesn’t seem like you use that. Looks like you just hook into your Versa Buttons.

Glad you enjoyed it. This stand I'm hanging is the beast stand. But on my alpha and my assault I do remeber that metal hook thingy they used to have on a strap. I never did ever use that. Always just hung it like this.

Awesome video. This should be required watching for a hunters safety course. With these concepts you could probably eliminate 99.9% of treestand falls/accidents. I've tried to preach this method to my friends but most of them still don't do the double connection around branches.

Liability insurance was like 3800 a year. Looked into selling the lineman belts. The insurance is the big stopper.

Another great video. You say you have fallen twice (with safety harness) and although it wasn't pretty, you are obviously alive and well. My question is why you don't choose to use a full body harness? I've never tested my safety harness "the hard way" but I'd think a full harness would be superior. Given your experiences, I'm very interested in hearing your thoughts.
I have fallen with a full body harness on and in out bowhunters education classes I used to teach I purposely jumped off stands with them on to demonstrate it and how to recover. Full body harnesses are great. But remember 90% of falls happen climbing (all of mine were) and transitioning from sticks to stand or back to sticks. So I prefer the attachment point In the front now rather than in the back.
After watching many of your other videos, I see your point. Ironically enough, I notice you used to use the same exact body harness (Seat O The Pants) that I've been using for the past ~20 years. I can't use it for my hang-on stand transition even if I wanted to because I cut the metal lineman loops off of mine (sound and no use for them). I'll check out the tactisaddle but I'm concerned about flipping upside down. Is that a "real" concern?@@SamkoTradBow
When descending the tree why not tie a Taught Line Or Blake's Hitch in the Tether? That way you only adjust the Lineman belt untieing the Tether when reaching the ground?

will look into those options. the running bowline is very fast to tie and adjust and if I do slip and load it it will still be easy to untie. Thats why i went with that knot.
I’m not a fan of heights and use this method of double safety to climb. Gives me peace of mind.
Also a southpaw.
Its the best way to be sure you make it home safe when hunting from a tree!

I always run white light. Never much liked red or green and never had white spook deer.
I use my tether as a second lineman belt.... much easier than using it as a tether. I get it probably not safer, but it's still safe with proper lineman management.

What an incredible resource this channel is. You've taken me from zero to hero with this stuff in a matter of days. This has to be the safest, most versatile hunting system out there. I can't wait to practice putting it all together in the off-season. Stay safe!

At the 6:30 mark I noticed when you’re about to tie your tether rope on the tree from the first stick, you lean into the tree and your lineman rope drops below your waist. If by chance you lost your balance at that moment you would have about a 4’ fall which could cause very serious injury or worse. That’s one thing that concerns me in trying to climb a tree… and I agree that focusing on how quickly you get up the tree can lead to careless mistakes. PS what diameter of is your lineman and tether rope? 9mm?
Actually I would not of fallen far as I also had my purple tether connected up higher. Always good to be double safe. I use 11mm for the lineman belt the tether is 8.4 dynamic rope

Excellent video. Love your focus on safety at all times. As one of those guys that grew up never using safety lines, harness, lineman's rope, etc back in the day, I never climb without one now. Quick question, I remember you once mentioning your preferred length for your lineman's belt rope. What was the length again?
Mine is almost 7 feet carabiner to carabiner. If you make it too short you won't have enough stack to move up and down well. Better to start with it about 7 or 8 feet and if you find yourself never using the extra you can always cut it later and retie the one end.
Is the running bowline tied the same way as the regular bowline knot?

Glad you are enjoying the vids! I will be hunting Michigan for the first 3 weeks of October this year as well as a couple other mid west states in November. Will continue to hunt mid west states each year as well. So no worries about alot of info coming from popular whitetail states.

One thing that's a disadvantage to hunting in those trees with branches around Is you won't have much of a clear opening to shoot. Your arrows would hit the braches.
Most of the time they have good shot options out of them. I love trees like this for the great cover. It's trees like this I spend 90% of my time in

so its like the hokey pokey but with knots and at elevation...
As you can see the knots are just as fast as a quick link or other method. This system is my favorite. Super safe, super function and super quick. I can climb a tree with no branches with this set up and from ground to on stand ready to hunt in 4 mins.
@@SamkoTradBow i agree, plus knots in the dark arnt that bad. im always a fan of less hardware and simple systems. whatever makes you effective and safe. thats what its all about.
@@anotheryoutuber_ yep and the knots are "not" in the dark. We are wearing headlamps. Atleast I do and always have my headlamp on when climbing. So I can see just as good as daytime
