My husband walked in while I was watching this video and goes "F*ck - are you doing a 100 now? Isn't the 50 enough? I can only carry so many bananas!" And walked out of the room mumbling about "next thing you know, woman is going to want to do that Barkley thing. Need a whole banana tree..." So thanks for helping me freak him out, and a massive congrats on your first 100!!!!

Great job, Nick. Just ran Grindstone 100 and Eastern States 100, myself, and I’m also a hybrid athlete. I really appreciate what you are doing by bringing the running and bodybuilding community together. Guys like you give my 190 lbs ass something to identify with. Keep on doing big things, and thank you for your service! We need more heroes in the sport.

Love how you share your experience and shared that this was a team/family collaboration. Ppl do not always see the hard work and all the people in the circle that help towards a common goal. You didn't say "I Finished".....but "we finished". I watch your channel and although I don't think I can do as much as you do, you are definitely inspiring. On to the next and can't wait to see what you are moving onto.

Maybe. But consider training for an ultra/ 100 miler - You generally overload on low aerobic work. Lots and lots of easy pace work and probably only going anaerobic on hill repeats and what not. You don't normally do speed work for ultras, You're really just trying to stay alive 😂

I’m a bigger guy, 6’2 240lbs, and never in a million years thought about running a marathon. I’m also getting older (35) and was a college athlete (football). I naturally run like an old football player. My brother is an infantry officer and showed me these videos, which ultimately encouraged me to train and sign up for my first marathon in October. I’ve put up decent numbers in the weight room and had decent speed at 40 yards, but I am terrible at distance runs. I enjoy the challenge of not being good at something and working to improve. Thanks for the content!

You and david goggins are totally opposite in terms of preparation.I remember he took his first ultramarathon so lightly. Even though he completed it in around 19 hours, after the race his kidney failed and even in his 2 nd ultramarathon which was jungle trail like this one, he had no idea about the nutrition. It would be awesome to see you two together on a podcast or something sharing your experiences.

David Goggin’s mental strength and resilience overcomes all of Nick’s preparation. I respect Nick, but these fancy gadgets to acclimate to altitude and the such aren’t what races like these are about. Goggins doesn’t whoop Nicks ass on times when it comes to running because Goggins is just a better runner than Nick, Goggins feeds off the pain, like he says himself “every foot strike hitting the ground is how I feed myself”. Watching Nick is nice and his business is admirable but when it comes to dominating the mind and being ruthless, Nick isn’t even at a tenths of what Goggins is.

This talk is interesting because it is informed by real experience. I am really enjoying the specific descriptions. Nick is a great adventurer. Premiering the documentary at a local theater is a fantastic idea. That part about not being able to get a deep breath after the race is scary. What do you attribute that to? Is it the chest muscles being so immobile and sore? Is it the oxygen deprivation? Your idea of getting there very early next time to acclimate sounds like a great idea. Sorry to hear about your toes :)

Kristopher, can you address his fake 100 mile ruck video from two years ago. He claimed to do a 100 mile ruck in 30 hours with 50 lbs on his back. The video is missing over 70 miles of footage and he does it on the side of the road while avoiding traffic. Here it is for the record: ruclips.net/video/403VR8NQgVQ/видео.html
A number of ultrarunners, I myself have completed the C&O canal 100, are questioning the validity of that ruck, as he is moving at a much slower pace from the start then what would enable a 30 hour finish -- not to mention the missing footage and countless breaks. Before you buy his supplement, watch that video.
