They revived The Critic in a series of webisodes, and they didn't do too well, so it's best this show just stay dead (or at least air in reruns on Crackle).
MADtv did a "Dennis the Menace"/"Menace II Society" mash-up also. It was about Mr. Wilson pushing crank and Dennis being his innocently destructive self...until the fake funeral at the end. Coincidentally, both had drive-by shooting scenes.
Just watched The Silence of the Lambs and had to find Honey I Ate the Kids immediately. Clarice's annoyed tone of voice gets me every time: "Did you eat the kids *again*?" XD
3:18 - 3:38/ Dear God, I lost it when they spoofed both SPARTACUS and SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT. Just seeing Kirk Douglas hopping on that cross...🤣🇵🇷🇺🇸🗽🦂📽😎
I really want to see the live action version of Dennis The Menace: To Society. CGI has improved so much since the 1990's that I genuinely think you could make an awesome Thriller/Crime movie and have it parody the original cartoon. I mean cmon we already have The Fresh Prince with no laugh track and Archie banging Mrs. Grundy while people in Riverdale are murdering their moms in real life, so I think a gritty Dennis the Menace should be the next thing to hit the scripts.
I think the exact opposite, is pretty dumb actually. If it had decent writers it would have been really funny, but all their jokes were extremely middle of the road. Even the episode where they parody Orson Welles have him use basic vocabulary, when he was a very eloquent person; went to show how limited the writers were.
Nah. Even though I like The Critic, the problem with it was it's lack of good supporting characters. Duke Philips was well done but everyone else was one-note.
Brown Acres was one of my favorite parodies. "Sand spreading out so hot and white... the temperature's 105 at night!" Reminds me of my time living in Las Vegas.
I definitely would love to see them do a live action movie for the critic. now if they had the right people to play the right characters and the right script, then only it could come out to be a perfect movie and a good one at that.
Eh, the reason The Critic is still good, is because it did not go on too long, until the old team of writers left and some newer, worse team came in and changed the show into something terrible. Or it just goes on too long, and they run out of good ideas so they just make things zany to pretend it's actual comedy. Ala The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park and many more show that were once great, but then fell into a pit as they were on decades longer than they should have been. As such, I think that any modern media company that took on The Critic for a reboot or movie or what have you, would screw it up and taint the memory and legacy of the show,, because they turned it into abject garbage. So I guess, we should be careful what we wish for. We just might get it, and it might not be anything like what we thought we wanted.
It was created by Al Jean and Mike Reiss. They wanted to make a show as far away from the Simpsons as possible. It was also the first non-family animated show to be aired in primetime.
Yes, it did. James L. Brooks, Al Jean, and Mike Reiss were showrunners and the writers who worked on The Critic later on ended up writing for The Simpsons (and the two other Matt Groening cartoons, Futurama and Disenchantment): Ken Keeler (the same one who wrote that Simpsons episode where Principal Skinner reveals that he's really a man named Armin Tamzarian), Patric M. Verrone (who became head of the Writers Guild of America, western division), and some other ones I can't name because I forgot. Though I do know that Judd Apatow (the guy who created Knocked Up and Superbad) started out here.
Part of me wants to see a reboot of the critic but I think we have had enough of reboots for one lifetime.
one lifetime? kind of lowballing it a bit don't you think?
What are you? a cat? How Many lifetimes do you have

djmars1983 maybe another season if this show becomes successful on Netflix.
The idea of a horde of intelligent raptors building a crude suspension bridge is hilarious enough on its own.
I'm convinced the best sequel to Jurassic Park would be a twist that they're intelligent because of all the modifications made to them, so... 😂
"Dennis The Menace II Society" always cracks me up!
Dennis sounds like Martin Prince from the Simpsons.....
He's a menace I tell you, a menace!
their was uk version of Dennis the menace
"That kid's a pain in the ass !" LOL
MADtv stole that joke for a sketch, by the way.
What's hilarious about The Silence of The Lambs parody is it's actually accurate regarding what happens in Thomas Harris's Hannibal.
"I could have not foreseen that."
Perfect.
Cameron Macdonald 😂🤣😂🤣
Your classic French film cliché!
The JP II parody with the refined raptors was one of those bits that stayed locked in my head for years; it was just so delightfully stupid.
"Dennis The Menace II Society": You really had to be there in the mid 90s to realize how easy that joke is.
"That kid's a pain in the ass!"
MADtv did a "Dennis the Menace"/"Menace II Society" mash-up also. It was about Mr. Wilson pushing crank and Dennis being his innocently destructive self...until the fake funeral at the end. Coincidentally, both had drive-by shooting scenes.
Notice how there's no Sam Neil in Jurassic Park 2, just like in real life!
Bonus goes to Siskel and Ebert for actually voicing themselves.
2:28 “sorry, that’s not kosher.”
*kosha
I wish it played the full clip of Red Balloon 2 with Steven Seagull’s part. “I don’t know what’s full of more hot air: that red balloon, or you.”
And they didn't show the musical number from "Rabbi, P.I." either.
Jurassic Park 2. Wow, that just kills me.
Except were they crash into windows.
Better than the actual JP 2
When they did the parody, they thought the idea of a sequel to Jurassic Park was so ridiculous as to be funny.
"Hey Cheif. How'd you get this pillow case so freakin' white?"
I use Phillips brand detergent! You'd have to be cuckoo not to use it!
Just watched The Silence of the Lambs and had to find Honey I Ate the Kids immediately. Clarice's annoyed tone of voice gets me every time: "Did you eat the kids *again*?" XD
Again?
Excuse me sir. The show is over.
I'm stuck in the chair!
But I got nowhere to go.
1:41 the funny thing is they actually used this trick in the fallen kingdom sequel
Dennis the menace 2 society got me😂😂😂😂😂😂
3:18 - 3:38/ Dear God, I lost it when they spoofed both SPARTACUS and SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT. Just seeing Kirk Douglas hopping on that cross...🤣🇵🇷🇺🇸🗽🦂📽😎
We all wanted that as kids!
the spartacus one cracked me up
Maurice you've got to stop making every character sound like Father/Michaelangelo! Maurice: What about Orson Welles?
Then let’s rock and roll!!
The 'red' balloon becomes the 'dead' balloon....i friggin' love it.

Have you ever watched Dennis and Gnasher?
@@Sonicandlaytonfan No, no one in America has watched Dennis and Gnasher!
@@ryandevan2793 well one of the shows was on Discovery Family back when it was called the Hub. Look it up if you don’t believe me.
I miss this show! It was so funny. I hate to sound like a snob, but I think it was too smart for a lot of people.

underrated vs simpspns and familu guy
I agree wholeheartedly!
Nah. Even though I like The Critic, the problem with it was it's lack of good supporting characters. Duke Philips was well done but everyone else was one-note.
That tragically demonstrates how badly contemporary comedy has declined.
Siskel and Ebert- perfect way to end it.
This show should come back for Jay Sherman can rip on modern movies
The Slide Whistle
I miss this show
Is that bad guy in the revenge of the red balloon supposed to be Alan Rickman?
I was thinking Hugo Weaving, but I re-watched it, and your instinct might have been better.
100% Alan Rickman
Brown Acres was one of my favorite parodies. "Sand spreading out so hot and white... the temperature's 105 at night!"
Reminds me of my time living in Las Vegas.
That Smokey and the Bandit bit LOL
NOBODY GETS AWAY FROM CENTURION BUFORD C. AUGUSTUS!
honey i ate the kids makes me laugh every time
Aw, didn't have my fave. The Rain Man parody: Snow Man lmao
Would love to see this show rip into superhero movies of today.
1:55 I assume this is the origin of Philosiraptor?
Man how did this show only last 2 seasons. Looks well written and animated. SMH.
Because it was intelligent comedy?
I definitely would love to see them do a live action movie for the critic. now if they had the right people to play the right characters and the right script, then only it could come out to be a perfect movie and a good one at that.
Unfortunately the critic can't exist without Jon Lovitz, it just wouldn't be right but I'd settle for series revival. Such an underappreciated show.

its better as a cartoon
You know you are officially old when you get all of the references in this.
all I remember him saying was "buy my book... buy my book... buy my book... "
1:54 Makes me laugh when "The Big One" is smiling saying " But perhaps I've said too much!" cuz y'know he's gonna off' them!
And that's how Karl Pilkington came to be
Impossible, the head of a raptor looks nothing like a perfect orange.
So many forgotten. Forrest Gump 2: Gump Harder, True Lies 2...
I love you, Spartacus!
The Spartacus parody is amazing
This show was ahead of it's time! I miss it!
Crazy that the Critic predicted talking raptors in the Jurassic park franchise
Brown Acres😂😂😂I LOVE this show
I *really* want to see Bob & Carol & Beavis & Butt-head and Hee-Haw: The Next Generation.
Maurice Lamarche's voices in these trailers are hilarious
Well, IS the snack bar still open?
Starless Trooper Not since Jay entered the building.
Boy that Dennis is sure is a menace.
Dennis I'm a menace
Saw the avgn use that clip
Lol make 'em bacon
1:19: Pretty much what happens if UK Dennis visits Mr. Wilson.
Did this show and The Simpsons had some of the same writers?? I find their humor styles very similar
Mauricio Berlanga from what I remember I think it was one of the main headwriters of the simpsons left the simpsons to create this show
It was created by Al Jean and Mike Reiss. They wanted to make a show as far away from the Simpsons as possible. It was also the first non-family animated show to be aired in primetime.

DG nope. Capitol Critters predates The Critic and trust me, that was no kids show.
The slide whistle one had me dying!
The fact that she said “Did you eat the kids again?”
“Son… you got a date with Mr.Smucker” is underrated line 😂
1:20 childhood in the hood be like...
Did you spend your childhood shooting random people?
“Oh no. Promotheus.”
“ProMEtheus!”
The "that's the meat thermometer" woman got voiced by Nancy Cartwright.
That's Kath Soucie.
I was kind of hoping "Home Alone 12" was going to be in here.
Yee haw the next generation with Jim Carry has Charlton Heston singing about cold dead hands
Dennis the Menace from Dennis the Menace got voiced by Russi Taylor in the 1st season 2 episode of The Critic.
Smokey and the Spartacus!
“Then let’s rock and roll!”
Dennis the Menace II Society is still my favorite
Spartacus was also Spartacus in Pinky and the Brain. The same guy The voice Spartacus in this was also Spartacus in an episode of Pinky and the Brain.
Sounds like Maurice LaMarche who was also the voice of Brain.
Mr. Pilkington is a very smart raptor.
"I shall take oddjobs under the name Pilkington." He later got surgery to make his head completely round and took the first name Karl.
I love you, Sparticus.
I'd watch all of these movies!
Childhood classic 😂😅😀😃😄
I'd like a camel that can catch frisbees...
1:54 so this is origin of philosoraptor, very nice...
This sounds so much like COCONUT SONG
1:54 Jurassic world fallen kingdom
Why isn't Al Jean reviving The Critic, rather than destroying what's left of The Simpsons?
1:23 I always thought that the "break yourself fool!" line from Boyz in the Hood should have been said there.
Whoever wrote Jurassic World Dominion stole the plot from The Critics parody of JP2
2:40 Dose Rabbi Pi not existed?
Oh, it was called Kindergarten Cop
Mr. Pilkington voiced by the great Gerritt Graham
1:15 Explains the downfall of Detroit pretty well
The show was so underrated .
2:46 I would pay to see this
I wish they bring this show back. Even if they do trump jokes it's better then most of the crap on tv today
AVGN brought me at 1:18
Nope. Ike Turner in "What's Truth Got to Do With It" was the best.
2:48 sounds like Kif Kroker
Where's 'Speed Reading'!?
Centurion Bufford C Augustus 😅
Where’s the home alone one
1:23 where the hell did he get the duel uzi?!!!!!!!
2:19 Is ANYTHING safe from DeviantArt?
Isn't a mohel who circumcises the child?
Brown Acres
It Sinks!!!!!!!!!
HAVA NAGILA BABY
