I think it was Shawn Briley that was asked why he took off on so many closeouts at Pipe and he replied "Yeah well.......You'll never know unless you GO !"
I was really stoked on that... I do them like that on small waves, and have only ever done 1 or 2 others on a wave that size. it's so fun. now I want to try it on a bigger wave.
That 360 reminds me of the fabulous 80's brother. Robert Hurt style, I'm from Myrtle Beach but made many epic trips to Hatteras back in the day. Can't wait to come back!
Slick cam all around. And I’m talking about the quality of your vlogs. I remember the “this is my blog” video way back when - with Phil Collins playing as your back track. I’d say you’ve upped your game good sir. Keep killing it. Keep reminding the Trent folk how much better the north beach is.
@@dougwalmer8620 yes in the mediterranean we have waves. especially with us in Sardinia and also of quality .. in summer on the west coast and all year round from all quadrants .. the waves are on average 4 days a week.. this is a little summer swell from nw wind ruclips.net/video/8C7MmJJuhrw/видео.html

awesome update. I'm out in oregon now, but your vids most of all make me miss the eastern seaboard. I have a feeling I'm going to be moving back to stay before this life is up.
Quality of content is certainly holding up... heck, better than ever! Really enjoyed this ep., great shots, editing + storytelling! We love to see it 🤘🏼
Ya it is. We don’t normally have fishing like that and when we do I’m pushing the boat so hard to fly fish. I did one of these days and hooked up but broke off. My fly hook was rusty... need to get some fresh ones. I don’t have many
I actually threw it one day but apparently my flies had rusted. Hooked one and broke it off. Problem here is there’s so much wind, so navigating the boat myself AND trying to cast a fly in time is super hard. I’m gonna try more this season
@@brettbarley it’s Definetly a labor of love. And yeah fly hooks in general have a tendency to wither just bc they are smaller. We’ll one day I’ll pole you around Definetly a team sport

I am not trying to blame surfline, but man they did not call it at all.... I should have taken the chance!!!!! Thanks for another Rad video!!!!! And by the way... Have you ever tried flyfishing for those red drum??? It is totally the way to go!
Yea Bert, I used to drive down there everytime the wind switched. Got it so good a few times I was hooked. After that it was one lost mission after another. So I moved to Haleiwa .
strange to see you guys not covered by rubber. BTW my daughter uses Oatly in her coffee drinks. Never tried myself being a black coffee macho man but might be worth a try?

Bro, There's a spot on Corova where all the stumps from the old forest are still sticking out of the beach that always seems to be way bigger than the rest of Carova . I'm here all year round and I'll see locals surfing there and every time I ask them why noone really surfs there they always put their finger up to their lips and gimme a shhhhhhh. I guess the old root system keeps the beach higher there and thus bigger waves? I know you guys rarely go North like that.
The wave at 4:21 straight deleted me ... Who enjoys all the wipeouts as much as the made waves?? :)
If your not wiping out ...... you'll never know what could have been !
Wipeout is a maneuver too🤣
Also enjoyed 3:22 haha.. It's still crazy how many late drops you stick. Impressive surfing like always! Keep it up

Nice vlog Brett! Never quite seen “lip-spin 360” at 5:18 in. Holy smokes! That was like smooth lightning if that makes any sense.

much better than the summer in the south coast of SARDINIA .. these waves are very beautiful 🤙🤙

Frisco disco looking super fun!
Thanks. It has been three weeks since we left Frisco Campgrounds, so this video reminds us of Hatteras is Heaven.
Looks like paradise to me.
Sick!!! Waves and fish! It’s been a pretty lackluster summer of waves a few hours south! Can’t wait for fall and winter!
Can't decide if I like the surfing or fishing more. Heck, love em both!!
Nothing better than tails and waves. Same thing here in Volusia FL.
love it Barley! the Frisco disco payed off it seams!!
love the new intro!!
I love Hatteras! Frisco. Buxton Avon! Thanks for the fun!!

Bust out the fly rod!!!!
I did actually! It was slick calm and I hooked one but broke it off... old rusty fly. need some more.
brett can you help me get better at surfing lol
note: theres only 3 minutes of surfing in this 15 minute video 2:30 is the start c;
why are east coast beach break waves generally so much more hollow than west coast beach break waves?
Steeper wind swells and shallower shelfed sandbars. Makes the waves jack up.
Of course swell comes the week after I leave
dang :( unfortunate timing. there were some waves last week though too, just not quite like this.
@@brettbarley they were fun but not nearly as nice as these
