Im missing one tip, which I haven't figured out yet, but fortunately a valheim pro is here :D How do you cancel the dodge animation? I see you often, while fighting a troll with a spear, that you dodge his attack and go directly to a spear attack mid dodge roll. How do you do this? Hope you can help :D
One more trick to get fine wood is to keep a look out for wrecks along the shores. They drop fine wood and can be broken down with any weapon or ax, including the stone or flint ax. And require less dancing around than using trolls. You can also fell birch by chopping other trees that fall towards them, once felled, push the birch logs against each other or other trees (does not work against stone, only other wood) and they will eventually break. Maybe not useful for speed runs, but for normal runs its a viable strategy to get the fine bow early. Also, pine trees can also be cut down with any axe, you do not need the metal one for that so core wood is easy. You can also often find camp fires with small wind breakers, they contain core wood that you can get even without entering Dark Forest.
All correct. Its interesting you mentionned the shipwrecks. In my most recent trophy hunt I actually found two shipwrecks immediately next to each other and was able to get all the finewood I needed without having to mess with any trolls. it was lovely!
Actually a good tips video! first one with consistently good tips. Every other one I’ve watched is like, eat food to gain health! Thanks guys. Groundbreaking stuff there.
really good one! I'm thinking of compiling a super niche tips that are not common in typical tip videos. I don't think I've ever seen that tip in a video before
Lots of great tips Spazzy thanks! I've been trying to progress in Hardcore mode (with x3 loot) but it's been slow going. Many of these tips will be very useful for it. Cheers!
Now, I might catch flack for this. But, I think it's more effective to build a smelter and forge out of the mats that your other wise dumping. Only because I think the time it takes to slap them down when you're already swimming in the mats is negligible. The materials for them are everywhere anyway. and you'll be able to make up the time with a real boat and you'll be able to get iron weapons. I'd even argue that the iron weapons would make up much of the half a minute it took to set up a forge with how much faster you can kill enemies with them.
Even without speed running or trophy hunting, I skip Bonemass. It sucks missing out on the power, but I find it worth it to avoid the bat raids killing your tames.
You can always just put walls and a ward around your tames to protect them from bats and then take them down with a Stagbreaker. Curious if you both feel that way about Bonemass during a fight with Fader given he is immune to all your camp fires and bon fires. I'd love to see a speed runner fight through the Ashland and take down Fader using nothing but a Fenris coat, no metal weapons/armor, and no Bonemass.
@@fortheloveofking If you just throw up basic wood walls around your tames, the bats may attack and take them down. Ward notify you this is happening with a blue pulse. Unless they've changed it in recent updates, wards protect your structures from damage from enemy creatures making the basic wood walls more durable from bat attacks. I noticed this info isn't on the wiki but is widely reported elsewhere.
@@fortheloveofking I should also amend my original challenge. It is possible to acquire and process iron, black metal, and flametal without mining at all. So, the challenge would be making it to Fader by acquiring iron in Crypt chests and using that to move up the metal tree from there.
I am for sure a builder by nature, but I love grabbing tips from different play styles. Thread turned me on to knives and unnamed portals, and also using surtling fire on abominations. I didn't even discover Thread or Spazzy until after I'd taken down Yagluth the first time. There is wisdom in taking in knowledge from other styles. :)
Most recently, i used flint spear only until i had the fine and core wood to make the finewood bow. Killing with the spear throw was at best a 20% success rate.
Love how placing campfires is not cheesy, but staying on a high spot to hit the boss is. One is taking advantage of the boss AI with fire, the other uses a weapon. Who decides that a fire is not a cheese, but a wall is? Every single boss strategy is a cheese, so let's stop lying to ourselves and embrace it, we all use strategies one way or another. Let's just stop making a difference between one cheese and another.
@@SpazzyjonesGaming it was only a problem due to my internet being trash if you make a actual server I bet it would be able to run fine just remember you will probably need to turn on PvP whenever you log back on I tried to raid one of my friends and he wasn’t able to attack me due to PvP resetting whenever you log back on
i did that with friends. We built an arena and bet with gear on fights. We elect a moderator from our group and the mod sets the rules for each fight. The fights can be anything from naked boxing to full top tier gear 2v2 fights where the winners can claim the inventory from the grave of their opponents. It can get pretty funny too.

Hahah it sure is
I dont speedrun but I like to avoid litterally 90% of the black forest enemies by equipping a torch
Fiat enough. What I like about these tips is that they can be super useful for someone even if they're not speedrunning

I dont really like speedruns, I have to admit. Much prefer taking my time. But then again the best part of Valheim for me is the building
Not at all saying stop or anything, do what you like, no hate at all from me.
