    Hi Danny. I bought my first dendrobium nobile past April and despite repotting it twice its roots are growing aggressively. It’s almost a meter high and I’m always hitting lights carrying it around. It’s become one of my favorites and thanks for info on winter rest. Trying hard not to expand my collection but geez, you sure makes it hard !!! Love all you daily posting and yes, RUclips seems to turn notifications off randomly, occasionally, -totally quarky.

    I am in the tropics of Australia and we use wire baskets so the previous year canes can be wrapped around between the basket and the matting [I use coconut fibre], to produce keikis and you can end up with a massive display.

    I still hate watering. I'm glad that it is winter here in Queensland. It went down to 5 degrees last week. Meaning that I water every week and a half. Yesssssss 😇

    Do you give a winter rest to dendrobium anosmum?

    These will do better mounted since they are so pendant 🏵😊

      Actually it doesn't make a difference, they can grow pendant over the side of the pot too without impacting health. Moreover, they are in no danger of dying due to dehydration in a pot for me. Visually it's a different story, de gustibus non est disputandum ;) I came to dislike the cork and wood slabs with a bit of a passion, it's like we're hanging hulks of meat (sorry lol that's what I see). A branch or an improvised tree on the other hand.. oooh I wish I could make that one day when I'll have resources and free time 😍

      MissOrchidGirl...LOL taste cannot be discussed, I like the mounts if they are smallish and fit in my terrariums...just hanging in a room I agree not so cool! And yes the pot option also works but I don’t like 😋since they look like they were in the path of a very strong wind and the wind won 😉

    I have a dendrobium nobile and it has active growing keikis but it is going into dormancy. Should I water it still?

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  6 лет назад

      Well depends if you want to save the keikis. If you have a strong plant with new canes that matured, then I would stop fertilizing and let the orchid gradually rest. If you want to save the keikis at the price of potential flowers, just water and fertilize (more rarely). Whatever you decide to do keep an eye on the canes though ;)
