I appreciate how you manage to adapt orchids to your schedule 😀 I have one, got it from Orchidgarden in March but the poor fellow was minute and I still not sure he will make it... I am trying and so is he, I want to beleive. Yours is beautiful, you did a wonderful job and your D.parishii looks very happy. Congratulations Bumblebee, thanks for this update.
RUclips has a new feature that shows me comments that I have missed. Sorry for replying so late. Thank you for your kind words. I found your little D. parishii on your channel an I hope it pulled through. Happy growing! :)
Thanks for sharing your solution for keeping your Den. steadily moist. I grow mine outdoors on cork. I live in Hawaii so you would think it would be simple to keep a steady moisture level, but I live on the slopes of Haleakala where winds can be quite drying when I don't want that affect. Your video got me to thinking it may be time to pot my nobiles the way my other Dendrobiums are. Sorry if this is years after you posted, but I just discovered the orchid You Tube coomunity.
Hi Diane, thank you very much for commenting and sorry for replying so late. It seems I haven't answered your comment and I am frustrated with youtube's notifications. I hope you found a solution for your Dendrobiums. Happy growing and have a very nice weekend! :)
Some orchids need more moisture than others. I add sphagnum moss to the orchid medium as this keeps moisture long. For the few that I have on mounts, I add moss to the mount
I always look forward to your videos. Your collection is lovely and your format/style of presenting it is very calming to watch. It is also really helpful to see how you're growing since you grow in traditional medium and by windowsill. Thank you for sharing :)
I have a den parishii which is mounted on a piece of coconut husk ! This year she bloomed for me . Her bloom was not significantly large ! Well this is now growing and I am feeding calcium and magnesium with sea weed extract !! Its summer and rainy days our plants growth this time ! So I am feeding enough nitrogen and I hope she will go for winter rest ! Next year I can expect a video for her !! Keep in touch !!

That's a beautiful flower. I just started collecting orchids and just have phalaenopsis. After a few more years I hope to have the experience to have one like yours
Thank you very much, Denise. I love Phals. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you'll be able to build up a collection that is very much to your liking. Happy growing!
Nice to see you back BB. I always enjoy your videos. Regarding your den I was looking most carefully at both shape and nature of canes, leaf color consistency and growth habit and it seems to me the noid keiki I brought back from my 92 year old aunt's garden one year ago may be this dendrobium. I hope so. Mine is potted in bark in a clay pot and loves water. I hope it is this variety! Congratulations on your success.
RUclips has a new feature that shows me comments that I have missed. Sorry for replying so late. Wow, I'll keep my fingers crossed that this particular and very special plant will turn out to be a D. parishii. It's such an enjoyable species. Happy growing! :)
Just got one today (Germany, getting into fall weather, wet and cloudy and 5c mornings 12c 2pm). It is potted in bark that looks a lot like dirt. It has one small bare cane and one with leaves. lost on leaf in transport. We will see what happen but it needs a bigger pot. Will likely go with a moss and bark pot.
I like the way you put your pereshii mounted in a pot. I have a mounted orchid I can't keep watered enough in the heat. Now that I see it, I'm going to find a clear pot asap. Thanks
I love the way your canes wrap around to the front? Back? Whichever it is very pleasing. I too have to grow indoors and I have the best luck potting my mounts, even still attached like yours 😉. Enjoy your summer too!
RUclips has a new feature that shows me comments that I have missed. Sorry for replying so late. Potting this Dendrobium turned out really well. Happy growing, Kelly! :)
Hi, I think you may have a good solution there for busy working people. I’m retired so at home more. My Parishii is on the same kind of wooden mount and I water mine once or twice a day depending on the season, temperature and humidity in my home. Happy growing 😊
Thank you, Chris. At the moment it's working out really well and we're both less stressed out. :) But it's great that you can water yours once or twice a day. That's more similar to its natural habits, I guess. Have a very nice weekend! :)
Love your videos. I am rather new to the more exotic orchids. Quite familiar with Phals, have a few which bloom regularly. A few yrs ago I purchased a mini Dondrobium which was covered in blooms. Dont remember the type, but blooms appear stuck to the stems. After it shed its blooms, I put in a south facing window. Was nicely surprised when it bloomed again. When blooming season was over, I repotted it, but for some reason it never bloomed again. It has 2 new stems but no blooms. Perhaps its still early. 🥳🇨🇭
Hi Luxmi, thank you very much for commenting and sorry for replying so late. I hope you found a solution for your Dendrobium. It might help to find out which type you have, maybe it's a D. nobile hybrid that needs a cool winter rest? Happy growing and have a very nice weekend! :)
I found your video today, Have the same situation as you had. My parishii lives with me for three weeks nown and is my only mounted orchid too, and it dries of so quickly. I spray it two times a day. New growth has started, until now no shriveling. But I don't know if I can get it over the summer. Maybe I'll do it as you explained and put it with the mount into a pot with bark. How is yours doing now, one year later?
Hi Sandra, it's doing very well. Check out this video at 6:57 ruclips.net/video/IuK9XHB1_sY/видео.html It's about a year after I had potted it up. At the moment it's leafless and is working on buds and new growths. For me potting it up was a game changer. Happy growing! :)
use a natural cork mount & hang it HORIZONTALLY, like a raft. The cork is porous, so it absorbs water, horizontally the water remains on the mount much longer than on vertical mounts. I think shrivelling of old bulbs in winter is normal, but should not be left to extremes. My D. parishii is a greedy drinker. Once a week the mount is floated overnight in a shallow dish of water, her mount soaks up a good amount of water.
That sounds really good to me. I wouldn't have cork expected to be porous and absorbing and hanging it horizontally is a great idea. Soaking a mount once a wouldn't be too much effort for me, either. Thank you for sharing this trick!
Beautiful plant. I just received a den. Anosmum. How did you fertilize this one? I have mine in a hanging basket with Orchiata bark. It is over 2 feet long and outside. I live in the Houston area.
Thank you, Brenda. I fertilise it very regularly at the moment with 350-450ppm TDS and it seems to be growing well. I hope the new growths will reach the size of the old ones. Wow, >2 feet is huge! :D
Hello I was given an orchid in a small glass pot as a gift. I googled it to find out what it is: it's called a Denronium perushii. I'm all new to this and your video helped in mire ways than one. I have a neighbor who has orchids too. He told only water it once a week and just spray the roots and the leaves. Its not in direct sunlight. Its outside. Lots of shade under my verandah. Sun comes later in the afternoon. Would like to get more information from you if u can reply back after reading my comment. Leaves are green not smooth. Thank you for your information.
Hi Maria, I am very sorry for replying so late. How is your D. parishii doing? I know what works in my growing conditions, but I don't know if they're similar to yours. I try to keep my routines easy and time saving. When it sheds its leaves in wintertime I water way less, but don't let the pseudobulbs wrinkle too much - at least I try not to. I'll keep my fingers crossed it'll bring you lots of joy. Happy growing! :)

Is it same like Dendrobium Moschatum?
I have recently purchased one.
They seem to be two different species. Yours should bloom yellow and smell musky, mine blooms pink and smells like raspberries.
Thanks. I will do like you because it’s too dry here
I only have two Dendrobiums in a pot, the rest is mounted for some strange reason they only do well on mounts 😁
Oh, I hope mine won’t change its mind. 😅

Hi does it need a winter rest?
Yes, as far as I know it requires quite a strict winter rest.
Can you send me one of them please?
:D
Shame you’re growing the orchid the wrong way. The stems need to always turn 180 degrees to reach sunlight
It's the way I got it.
