A great product and I've been using one for 5 years and have recently upgraded to a Merida electric assisted mountain bike and am using the Upride rack on a homemade 2 ebike holder using a 2'' hitch setup.
just installed this, it seems very well built. My only question is nothing seems to locking the arms in place when there is no bike on the roof, am I right? I'm just worried about movement when driving when no bike is there.
Great video thanks for posting this. The Thule manual is quite weak, and as a beginner one can spend some time figuring things out. Does the stowed away position when empty stay sturdy while driving? I feel like the arms that hold the wheels can fly up upon a big bump and thus don't trust it leaving it empty without a bike. Thank You
Good video I love this rack. But recently it’s not locking into place. I still use it and it works but it won’t make that clicking sound it does when it locks. Any idea why? I actually got it from you guys at Rack Attack. I got ahold of someone but all I was told was bring the rack to a store to get checked out. The problem is I don’t have one near me. Help!
Hello. We have no specific mudguard suggestions, however, the front wheel supports are well clear of the front and rear of the front fork area leaving a fair amount of clearance for mudguard. Thanks!
1st! 🤓 You mentioned it can mount via the T-slot or to a square bar using the “under bar plate,” but what options, if any, are there for the other usual suspects (round, aero and factory bars)? Thule website doesn’t seem too clear. Thx!
Hello. The carrier can be quickly modified to face forward on the driver side. See page five of the instruction manual. Thanks! www.rackattack.com/public/product-instructions/Thule_UpRide_599000_v02.pdf
Hello. The 598 has less movement because it connects directly to the frame, whereas the 599 holds the bike by the front wheel/tire, this style inherently will have more movement but both are equally safe for travel. Thanks!
I was very nervous putting my brand new beach cruiser on this rack. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxG6JIgwJhur8_Rg8UeQ3EmePzi_wSncL8 But after reading many reviews I decided to get this one and take a chance. When arrived it was very simple to adjust and put together. I also added spike tape over the metal hooks before securing and tightening the straps, and no scratches. I also purchased the top bar made by the same company so that my cruiser sits straight on the rack without having to turn upside down. Extra bungee cords are used to secure the front wheel from flapping and even piece of mind knowing your bike is secure. Definitely recommend...

Glad to hear it was helpful! The arm on the rack are design for this not to occur, so you should encounter that issue with this rack
Gets the job done
We're glad you like it!
Is it safe to drive long distances on the freeway? What if you come across high winds?
These are tested at 320kmph. You'll be fine
How did you get it into the T trac ? Anything special ?

JD, hard to say without checking it out in person. Maybe there is another Thule dealer in your area who could take a look?
Hi guys, do you maybe know how long of a mudguard (on the front wheel) the bike can have to still fit the rack?

Kevin Hill the Under bar plate is used for both the aero, square and factory bars.
Does Thule sale a right and left side? Like if you want both racks facing the same way on top of the car with the accessibility you need.

Which one is the best in terms of sturdiness (less wobbly): 591/598 ProRide or 599 Upride?

Any issues with front arms hitting disc brake calipers on full suspension bikes?
Anybody else freaked out about how much it sways? I feel like mine sways more than the thule sidearm
djsupermario415 I think you can make the rear hoop more snug. I just bought one and will see how it goes

Hello. Great, thanks for commenting!
Yakima roof bike attachment is better. Way easier. I have both Thule and Yakima on my Thule roof bike system.
Thanks for your input, here are all of our Yakima options: www.rackattack.com/rooftop-bike-racks/
