Dusty so Fabulous on this. Nobody can lament like Dusty could. The heartache is palpable. AMAZING. Bet the songwriters wished they would have given it to her first to do after hearing this. WOW.
First time hearing Dusty on this. Knew it would be excellent. Kudos to Dionne Warwick for laying down such an iconic demo track (which Lou followed, and then evidently Dusty). Love all her stuff.
Songs of my toddler times that played in the background while I wondered about everything I seen & heard for the first time got lucky being born in the sixties when we were young , hankerings 😊
I think it's Lou's.😊🤭. Love hers (come on, it's Dusty, who could make you cry singing the phone book) and Love Dione's (come on, that range on this song silenced everyone, not to mention that she laid down the original demo of the song), but Lou's gives me the tingle that happens on the spine when the music hits the spot
@@inbutnotoftheworld2237 Sandie was only 17 in 1964 whereas Dusty, Dionne and Lou were well in to their 20's. Sandie sings it with a vulnerability that the other 3 had gotten over at their ages.
Oh my!! Dusty’s was the version of this song I first heard and after all these years she’s still the one that touches my heart. Can’t find it on any of her complications. Thank you for posting this classic!
This totally shows her vocal range. The song does an impossibly high key change prior to the third verse and she is kicking a_ _ singing it. She sings it with such melancholy. BEST VERSION I think due to the sorrow and reflection in her voice.
Correction. DIONNE WARWICK is the one who changes the key way higher in the third verse. Dusty keeps the key the same, sensible thing to do. Props to Dionne for taking it out of the stratosphere. Dusty's heartache is wonderful in this version.
WOW, I always knew there was a “Dusty” version of this song I knew it would be great. I especially like her jazzy ending. Know we just need to find someone to enhance the vocal tracking so it doesn’t sound so distorted.
There are at least 3 singers who sang this in 64" Although I believe Lou Johnson sang it first.....Such a great Burt Bacharach song......3 people had to share it in the same year!! :)
All the female English rock singers from this era spent every spare moment studying Dionne records. Dusty was also hip to Aretha, even before Aretha was famous.
Did not know that Dusty had a version. Very nice. Really love Lou's. His is so iconic that Amazon was all over it.😜 Personally, I thought the original girl version was the Sipremes, then Dione Warwick's (technically, it was the first since she sang the demo for Lou's original, which predated even this Dusty S version).
I'm pretty certain Sandie Shaw's version was the first female version released, because this Dusty version remained unfinished and unreleased at the time.
@@kyawkyawwin1 That's a rather uncalled-for comment to make. Dusty was and will always be great in her renditions of a myriad songs, but this one's Sandie's, for sure. And you can take your opinion of my opinion and blow it out your bloody arse. I really don't care, since I know what to expect.
I wished this was clearer...my right hears a muffled sounds along with the song whilst both hear the static of whatever is playing this, most likely a cassette...still ok version of the song though...
Hello, Darren, thank you for posting! Is this from Ready Steady Go! episode which Dusty mentioned in an interview when she had to sing it because Sandie Shaw was not around when she had already introduced her? With regard to the different versions of the song, I grew up listening to the Carpenters' version and just now listened to Ms Shaw and Ms Warwick's. ALL are excellent interpreations of Mr Bacharach and David's song!
Hi achirose. It's more than a possibility. Perhaps someone knows absolutely for sure, but the evidence is there for sure. This appears to be the only time Dusty sang a Sandie Shaw hit on Ready Steady Go, although I'm not 100% per cent sure about that either. If she did sing it live and ''off the cuff' she sure did a brilliant job, cos she's word perfect to my ears. I grew up with Sandie's version , and love it very much indeed, but Dusty's version has overtaken it for me, despite the cackles here.
Yep Sandie Shaw’s version is the definitive version ... wistful & full of emotion ... & my all time favourite record. Sandie Shaw is a hugely underrated singer with a great vocal range whose recordings got better and better as the 60’s progressed
Bacarach wrote always beautiful songs, dusty sang it well but not also version sung by brunette sandy shaw is not bad at all..i ignored miss Springfield sang it too
This song is a very beautiful song it doesn't matter who sings it. It's just BEAUTIFUL EVERY TIME!
Happy Birthday Dusty. You are missed and admired so much. Listening to your music almost daily.
Great rendition and singer amazing song too.
This song. The way she sings. This song is my favorite. Her voice is very much the reason I liked her. Plus she was beautiful.
Beautiful performance of musicians and backup singers too.....drums and guitar are lovely too
Dusty so Fabulous on this. Nobody can lament like Dusty could. The heartache is palpable. AMAZING. Bet the songwriters wished they would have given it to her first to do after hearing this. WOW.
Oh you are so right about Dusty!! You can/could really feel her heart in all her songs💖
I read somewhere that this was Burt Bacharach’s favorite song. Dusty sure hits it with her soul/jazzy voice.
First time hearing Dusty on this. Knew it would be excellent. Kudos to Dionne Warwick for laying down such an iconic demo track (which Lou followed, and then evidently Dusty). Love all her stuff.

Omdddd I knew this song for years , how did I not know Dusty sang this !?!?! Always heard Sandi Shaw version
Love this!❤️ Dusty's version is definitely my fave. She can truly sing anything and make it sound better than you ever thought possible.
Love this!!! ❤️ the coolest version of the song!!! Amazing Dusty!
Wonderful live version of the song! Dusty magic!
Love the little jazzy recit she adds at the end! thank you for posting, darren!
Jeez, I have listened to ALL the versions of this song, & Sandy Shaw,s is the best
😢This is without doubt Sandie's song much as I love Dusty
Lou Johnson's and Burt thought so too.
I think it's Lou's.😊🤭. Sandie sings it with a vulnerability that the other 3 had gotten over at their ages.
My picks for this song and in this order ... Lou Johnson, Sandie Shaw, Dionne Warwick, Dusty Springfield ... thank you for the post!
Naked Eyes did a cool version in the 80's.
She was simply the best!❤
Oh my!! Dusty’s was the version of this song I first heard and after all these years she’s still the one that touches my heart. Can’t find it on any of her complications. Thank you for posting this classic!
Bel album photos de Dusty merci daren
We love you still Dusty!
Yes we do!
This totally shows her vocal range. The song does an impossibly high key change prior to the third verse and she is kicking a_ _ singing it. She sings it with such melancholy. BEST VERSION I think due to the sorrow and reflection in her voice.
Yes love the teenage feeling you can feel the hurting and longing.
Thank you for the share Darren, your the best!
This version's final.'s gorgeous

Lori Romano Agree. Dusty knew where the "gut" of the song was.
All this time I never knew that it was redone by Naked Eyes. Love this version better.
Well Dusty was a natural for so many Bacharach/David songs. She just had that sound ...
WOW, I always knew there was a “Dusty” version of this song I knew it would be great. I especially like her jazzy ending. Know we just need to find someone to enhance the vocal tracking so it doesn’t sound so distorted.
Huge Dusty fan here, I just found this after watching her documentary. I love this particular song as well so this is amazing!!
@@helveeta Me too.

Even with the static it's still a great version Darren. Well done..
The best version of this song.

One of best pop songs in the sixtys .....i like dusty springfield 's voice but one of brunette sandy shaw is gorgeous
Dusty should have released this song as a single. Knocks the spots of the Sandie Shaw version.
I'm a huge Dusty fan, but Sandie Shaw gives it something special x
You are clearly low class with no taste.
It's urgency.
low class really?@@kyawkyawwin1

Heavenly.
Dusty sings it the best!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
I think that Sandy Shaw did the best job with this one, better even than Dusty or Dionne.
Bollucks.
I totally agree. Sandie's version has more feelings and no one can sing thus song the way she did.
Sandie shaw's song.But Dusty does a great soulful version.Fab..
Lou Johnson did it first.
@@majorneptunejr yes I know I have his version on London records.Great voice.
This is good but does not even come a close second to Sandies passionate heartfelt original 1964 version!
You moronic, low class eejit.
Dusty Springfield was awesome.
Dionne Warwick was the best.
How did so many people sing this song in the same year? Who was the most successful?
Nos jeunes années
merci pour le commentaire sélectionné
sandie shaw owns this song
Rubbish.
Will always prefer Dionne Warwick on Bacharach/David material, but Dusty could sing anything.
I wished this was clearer...my right hears a muffled sounds along with the song whilst both hear the static of whatever is playing this, most likely a cassette...still ok version of the song though...
She did a nice remix...

Dusty did indeed do a great job with this if she were singing it last minute. I wonder where in the world Sandie was?!?
this one BELONGS to dusty.
I am a big fan of Dusty-but this song-without doubt-belongs to Sandie Shaw!
Bollucks.
Idiot - Sandie Shaw couldn't sing.
Yep Sandie Shaw’s version is the definitive version ... wistful & full of emotion ... & my all time favourite record. Sandie Shaw is a hugely underrated singer with a great vocal range whose recordings got better and better as the 60’s progressed
I'll take the original Lou Johnson .
You mean Dionne since Sandie worked very hard to copy Dionne's original.
How many goddamn covers are there of this song!!!!!!!!!!!?????????
The Sandie Shaw hit version sung with more feeling
Wonderful song. Lou Johnson's rendition is the best in my opinion. Then Dionne for a more low key rendition.
Did sandy shore sing this to?
Yes Sandie Shaw did sing this too 😊
Yes she did. Was number 1 in UK and Canada. Not too shabby for a 17 year old Dagenham bird
Too
Jesus. How many people recorded this damn song?
Bacarach wrote always beautiful songs, dusty sang it well but not also version sung by brunette sandy shaw is not bad at all..i ignored miss Springfield sang it too
Dusty should have had so many more No 1's - she kept choosing the wrong songs to release.
Drive Easy This is an excellent point!
If only she had recorded this one before Sandie Shaw and also Anyone Who Had a Heart before Cilla ...
If Dusty had released this as a single she would have wiped Miss Shaw 's version out
Great singer and song...but...sound is the worst...
... the best version is that of the naked eyes band ...
No no no no. They took what was a lovely haunting ballad and turned it in to an awful synth pop song.
So much better than the awful Sandie Shaw.
bullshit
Sandie's version is way and above the best.
Total rubbish
I'll take the original by Lou Johnson. Burt Bacharach even preferred it .
