3 things that need to be said:
1: Kyle Soller makes a teensy role amazing.
    2. The choreography is mind-blowing.
    3. That camera work is exquisite!

I’d be pissed if I learned all that choreography and it didn’t get used

Even though it didn’t get used in the movie I wonder if this helped the main characters to get into their character more. It was beautifully done but I felt the movie version built up the suspense way more. So they chose correctly but I still love seeing this one for the pure beauty of it.

The scene that they kept in the movie is more true to how the ball played out in the book than this one, but I still enjoyed watching it! Beautiful to see!

This version is my personal favorite. However I see why they didn't use it in the film.
    1. she didn't wind up dancing with Vronski in this version which is a problem for the plot a rather large problem in fact. Perhaps one reason they didn't pair Anna with Vronski is since the man and woman are picked by the woman currently dancing at random it might have seamed to coincidental for them to be picked to dance together, though personally I think it still could have worked.
2.Another reason could be that in this movie version she has Kitty dancing with Vronski as she leaves the ball, she could not have done that if she was already dancing with him, since she would have had to pick 2 new dance partners, though I guess some script changes could have been made to make it work, since she left the ball I guess she still could have picked Kitty as her replacement and not picked a new man to dance with her I mean what would they have done, kicked her out for not following the rules of the dance, she was already leaving.
3.Another thing is that Kitty being upset with Anna holds more weight in the version used in the movie, since Anna was dancing with the man she liked, where as in this version I guess Kitty is mad because Anna wasn't getting around to picker her and Vronski to dance together, I mean it works so that probably didn't have anything to do with why they didn't use it but still I think Kittys reason for being upset in the movie version is a more valid reason to be mad.
With all that being said the version in the movie fits the plot better since she is dancing with Vronski in that version at least, and she is still able to pick kitty to dance with him as she leaves the ball.
now in the movie version you have some 'special affects' used to distinguish the dance from all the other dances such as people freezing, or every one in the room disappearing for a moment, then the shots of kitty dancing with different partners to show the audience that you should either be changing partners during the dance or to show that Anna and Vronski had danced more than one dance together, but besides that the dance its self is the same as all the other dances that were danced at the ball that night, but with this version you can deffanatley tell there is something special about!

The version that they went with for the Final Cut was more true to how the ball played out in the book, but I still enjoyed watching this.
