People are surprised by how brutal Shanks is being but forget that since the very beginning of the series when he saved Luffy from the mountain bandits as a kid, that if you hurt his friends he will make you pay and with his future sight he saw how many of his friends were either injured or killed by Kids attack.
In that way shanks is just like roger and kinda luffy too. Roger was easy going normally but had a reputation to become a demon if you touch his friends. Shanks is the same way and he told us that since we first saw him. Shanks and his crew are usually easy going, thry don't pick fights for nothing, but when they do fight, they are ready to kill or be killed. Luffy is getting up there and we saw ut against saint charlos and in the first kaido fight, but he lacks maturity and power to fully turn into a demon

@@rochetstrider8725 roger was stated to be a demon when somebody hurts his friends and we've never seen him face an actual ennemy, only play fighting against whitebeard and oden. Luffy usually doesn't kill but if he was strong enough, he'd likely have killed kaido in their first dight with how angry he was, and he didn't care to send kaido flying off a floating island into a volcano. Neither of them are truly opposed to killing, especially when their friends are on the line

Exactly, if it was Law who had shown up at Elbaf things would have went a lot differently for his crew. He probably still would have lost his Poneglyphs, but he wouldn't have his entire crew wiped out and sunk into the ocean.
@@divineengine547 law wouldn't even attack shanks' crew as he has no beef with him. They would probably become friends as shanks would recognise him being luffy's ally for a while.
@@extremelynoobgaming4742 It also completely depends on how badly Law wants the one piece. His goal was always doffy, now its switched to keeping his promise with luffy to beat kaido but mainly to learn more about history and "D". Giving the poneglyph rubbings to shanks would result in a heated conversation and potentially a scuffle, but since Law is far more level headed and has less of an ambition than Kidd to become King, even if it became a fight Shanks would spare Law.

Shanks is so charismatic as a leader and this episode told is being pirate is not to play.. You point a gun to someone, it means u ready to get shot of..
He made it very clear in chapter 1 when those bandits pointed a gun at him.
Love that right before Shanks uses Kamusari / “Divine Departure” which was the same named attack that Roger used against Oden that we see an image of a Griffin which is the name of Shank’s sword Gryphon
He Drew Gryphon and started to dumlp conquors coating into it so the sword's spirit activated much like Enma becoming necromatic in Aura😏

Silver Lining is Kid didn’t have to hear his crew giving Shanks their Road Ponyglyphs. Hard to imagine the Straw Hats doing the same if it happened to them.

Kids biggest mistake was going for the allies instead of Shanks.
Shanks would have done a 1v1 or a crew vs crew and be mercifull and less severe but the second he saw that Kid would just kill all the weaklings under Shanks protection was the moment Kids fate was sealed.
Since day 1 Shanks showed that he does not care what you do to him but going after his friends is where he draws the line.
This also shows you how powerfull Shanks and his crew is, they have the weakest fleet of all Yonkos including Buggies but still hold their own and protect their territories.

Kidd is not soloing shanks entire crew. Same way Roger told reyeligh and Gaban not to fight oden. Not because he would beat them but it’s his fight and he is showing respect to Kidd despite of the severe gap between them

It doesn't matter if Shanks only has one arm. He just showed again how powerful he can really be as an emperor. Using his old captain's technique is a nice reference and very fitting for Shanks.

To help clarify a bit for the reason why right before Shanks hit Kid with Divine Departure (which I still think is cool that Shanks learned Roger's slash attack) he appeared in an Aura of a Red Griffin, the name of Shank's Saber-sword is called Gryphon {there are different name-spelling iteration-variations of the mythical eagle-lion beast, but they all mean the same}
See the problem here is Kid put all of his points into long ranged combat, he wasn't expecting a sword fight from 1000 yards out lol

@@Katakuri39162 Oda literally said that Shanks has the answer to Observation Haki and that he's an Observation Haki killer... and the reason being is he is substantially better at it than everyone else. He can see 10s+ into the future while most can only see 1-2s.

@@Katakuri39162 Yeah that's supposed to be his biggest flex. Big Mom was like 80% DF 20% fighting ability/haki. Kaido is like 30% DF 70% fighting/haki. Blackbeard is 100% DF 0% fighting/haki and Shanks has no DF and is 100% Haki that's how I break down the old Emperor crew.
Kid is in many ways a parallel to Luffy, but unlike Luffy, Kid just always assumed his friends to be granted and he expected them to be ready to sacrifice themselves for his dream. This is the point of showing that moment with Kid and Killer, which is why it hurts: Kid actually realizes his careless actions were at the detriment of his friends and crew members. At least that’s a way one could interpret this scene.

I was kinda sad with Shanks with how he didn't let them go after they surrendered, but then when Dory and Broggy said you don't threaten someone's home without being expected to be attacked too. I remembered the scene with the bandits and lucky roo. How guns aren't meant for threats and should be for killing. That's who Shanks is as a pirate.
And Kid pulled a really big gun.
To your opinion. Shanks was chilling. He did not intend to fight. But Kid was too arrogant to think that he could destroy the Red Hair Pirates. And when he powered up his weapon. Shanks saw that he would destroy everyone around him except him. And that was something that Shanks couldn't accept. So he woke up.
Props to Kid he’s got some serious balls! Giving it all in when you know it’s a fight you can’t win he tried his luck!

Lets not forget big mom was still ready to fight. If she was still able to speak who knows what would've happened.
In Big Mom's defence, the situations were very different. There is a lot of 'recovery time' in One Piece fights, and preparedness matters as well. Against Big Mom, Kid was prepared for a slugfest, and fighting alongside one of the best supports in the setting, so he could tank pretty effectively and have cover when needing a breather.
Shanks hit him with a surprise attack (Spoilers: negating his Observation Haki with one of his own advanced haki abilities) when he was putting everything into offence, and then Dorry and Broggy double-tapped within a minute. Had Kid declared a proper challenge to Shanks, in a way Shanks would respect, I could see him putting up a similar performance to what he managed in the more-solo sections if his fight against Big Mom. He would still have lost, possibly quite badly, but he would not have been humiliated. Like T-Bone versus Zoro, this was not a standard fight of calls and raises, this was two people going all-in on the first hand, except one can see further into the future, can block his opponent's ability to do the same, and had better cards to begin with.

In Shanks’s defense, he just defended himself and his people, and the fact of the last attack against the ship was because Kid wants to kill a friend of the Giants Dorry and Brogy (Shanks)

That was necessary what Shanks did. The kid wanted not only to have a fight with Shanks. He wanted to destroy everyone in the fleet.
This just goes to show that both law and kid bountys were overestimated while luffys is DREaDFULLY UNDERESTIMATED. kid and law needed to work together to bring down big mom. Also kid and law both didnt train they just went straight ahead into the new world unlike luffy who got his training arc. This moment was pretty wild in the manga.

Kidd was concentrating all his power to one offensive attack and that moment is his most vulnerable 0 defense at all. Then suddenly out of the blue one of the most powerful character appeared in front of him unleashing one of the most powerful attack to Kidd while he was charging his huge gun. It was actually a big feat for him to still be conscious after receiving that attack. I think Kidd can put up a fight 1 vs 1 against Shanks if he was ready. But of course Shanks will still win.

A. I didn’t even KNOW that was observation Haki he was using, I just thought he got revenge.
B. Shanks has one rule: You can do and say whatever you want to be but once you point a gun (or something lethal) at me or my crew you better be ready to die. Don’t kill unless you’re willing to be killed and all that.

Idk if i only saw that but this episode was also a good representation of what Zoro said a long time ago when Usopp left the crew in Water 7, he said something about, If the Captain goes down then the whole crew goes down, if the Captain of a crew cannot be strong, then the crew won’t be either, it shows that the Captain has great influence on their crew where Kid was excited, it was making his crew excited as well, when Kid was down, being the captain, the crew knew they were already defeated no matter if they try to fight or not

- “Ball Fingers” Gerotini the captain of the Puddle Pirates, he tends to end his lines with or use frog related words which his crew notes is him flubbing his words, & is voiced by Yūsuke Numata
- “Memorial Blade” Fugar is the captain / bandmaster of the Social Club, his epithet in Japanese is “Ireba” which can be a pun on dentures, “fuga” is the Japanese sound effect for someone who is struggling to talk, & he is voiced by Kappei Yamaguchi
- “Trembling” Pururu the captain / “princess” of the Bourgeois Pirates, her name & epithet in Japanese is "Buruburu no Pururu" which sounds almost like a tonguetwister while as for just "Buruburu" it refers to someone who is cowardly & shaky while sounding cute & not very threatening, & she is voiced by Akane Yamaguchi
- the woman who hugged Shanks in this episode is “Igniting” Linaria the captain of the Night Butterfly Pirates, her name maybe from the genus of flower or bird, she was introduced in an SBS with someone asking who is she which Oda says that she is very loyal to Shanks because when she was young he saved her thus becoming a pirate who tends to set fires hence her epithet along with her catchphrase "I will follow Shanks ♡", & she is voiced by Yuri Kimura
- the thin old woman is Crone Oli who is a captain of an unnamed pirate crew, her laugh is “Hoahhahhahha”, her appearance & name maybe a reference to Olive Oil from “Popeye”, & is voiced by Mami Horikoshi
Yeah, I feel bad for the other rookie pirates, because there can only be one king of pirates. I got attached to almost all of them. 😢
Shanks is that kind of person tho. Remember early episodes, point a gun at him or someone he loves, and he's about standing on your business
So this is why none of the former Yonko want to mess with Shanks even with his weaker army, Shanks alone is on whole other lv
The RHPs are everything, the strongest group of all time, maybe only to be surpassed by the SHPs. Same way Shanks is the strongest oat, maybe only to be surpassed by Luffy
