Thanks so much for the shout out! ❤️ You guys did so good! Gluten free bread is super bouncy and dense. Come on over to my house and you wouldn't tell a difference that food is gluten free. 😉 You should do a part two in the future!
i'd love to see a part two of them trying the same product with different gluten-free substitutes. Like pancakes with almond flour, a flour mix with xanthan gum, a flour mix with bean flours, a flour mix with arrowroot and rice flours, etc. I think it would be interesting to see if they can tell a difference between the flavors. i can! :)
In way more expensive here in Canada too. The only acceptation is Walmart, they sell some great value gluten free products that are half the price as everything else.
Not only people with celiac disease that need to avoid gluten there are people that have Crohn's disease they can't have gluten and there are people like myself who have a severe life-threatening allergy to gluten
I own a gluten free bakery, and people who come in for the first time are so excited to see gluten free items that they havent had in years. Its amazing how things are becoming more accessible as the years go on. Thanks for bringing light onto some gluten free items
I work at one in VA (along with being peanut and tree nut free!) and it makes me so happy when people come in so excited to be able to eat so many different things they havent had in a long time and never thought they could have again. When i first went in before working I was just as amazed. Its incredible how much it's progressing tho!
As someone with celiac.... the cross contamination in this video is real. Thanks for taking the time to taste some gluten free food during Celiac awareness month!
Dang, I didn’t know it was that sensitive. So if the fork your eating with accidentally touches a gluten item.. it contaminates it and then you can’t eat it because of your condition ?
@@joangeluz Heck, I had some lemonade and my friend was eating an ice cream with fudge bits that had gluten. She drank from my straw and just her spit caused my stomach to instantly bloat and I got a headache and began lashing out from pain. I have to wait 4 hours after someone ate gluten to share their spit or any bodily liquid, and I need used dishes to be cleaned with at least hot water and scrubbed down before use.
I was eating gluten free pizza while watching this xD (I'm celiac) Also thank you for mentioning the disease - I hate when people think gluten free is just some trendy diet
Another celiac here hhhhh I found it weird when they said everything gluten free was more tasty hhhh because all the food I eat doesn't taste good when I remember the taste of gluten food hhh
Celiac isn’t the only disorder that makes you gluten intolerant. I have Hashimotos Disease (an autoimmune disorder where your body attacks your thyroid because the protein in the thyroid is very similar to gluten)
변에리 I always make gluten free pizza crust but don’t tell anyone that it’s gluten free and I people ask me for my crust recipe because it tastes like takeout. It’s my own recipe that took years to prefect and it doesn’t have this dissolving texture that they complain about in this video. Also there’s a Canadian company (Little Northern Bakehouse) that makes gluten free bread that has the same texture as regular bread. I can’t choke down any other gluten free bread (unless it’s toasted, that helps) I also make gluten free cream puffs that taste identical, they just don’t puff up as high, but I was thinking that next time I might try adding some baking powder. But other than that I use just a regular cream puff recipe and substitute the flour with 50% glutinous rice flour (which is made from sticky rice/sushi rice and doesn’t contain any gluten) and 50% of any other gluten free flour. White rice flour makes it taste like regular cream puffs, but any flour works and some flour mixes puff up better. It’s usually a bit too runny so I add a little more flour after cooking it on the stove top, till I reach the desired consistency, and this would be the step where I was thinking to add the baking powder, just so it the heat doesn’t activate the baking powder before sticking it in the oven. My pizza crust also uses glutenous rice flour (AKA sweet rice flour). You have to cook a small portion of it so it becomes like mochi and then thoroughly knead it into the rest of the dough. The dough feels exactly like play dough and needs to be pressed into the pan, and for best results, it needs to be pre-baked for about 10 mins. I use the same recipe for cinnamon rolls, but they don’t turn out as well as regular cinnamon rolls because they don’t puff up as much and they’re too crispy (the pizza crust is like a crispy, thin crust pizza... not what you’re looking for in a cinnamon roll, but better than nothing)
Hi! I have celiac myself I noticed the difference when I first ate gluten free now I enjoy gluten free and often have to double check if things are gluten free if it tastes too good
I got a GF bun at a local burger place and upon first bite, I panicked... It was too good! They assured me it was the right bun and said they heard that all the time. I really enjoyed that bun... Haha
So glad to see you guys try gluten free foods! Most people do not realize what us celiacs go through on a daily basis, reading every label, being an annoying customer at restaurants(when we actually try to go out). I have tried a lot of different breads and it is hard to find good bread that doesn't have that after taste :/
This is such a good idea for a video! You guys should do a similar video but with dairy free products like ice cream, Baileys liquor, cheese etc! I suffer from coeliac and I’m dairy intolerant 🤦🏻♀️ was awesome to see awareness raised by you guys!!
Gluten free AND dairy free is such a difficult combo if you want to eat out 😭 i had to completely avoid both for a while and i was so miserable whenever I didnt eat at home. I wish there were more options out there!!!
I can so relate! I'm allergic to gluten and dairy. I wish someone would either come up with a cure or invent a pill to replace food so I don't have to deal with worrying about what I can eat.
I also have Celiac but I don't really view it as suffering I mean I've been gluten-free most of my life and I'm only 17 I feel like if you would have suffering you aren't going to enjoy anyting although what happens when you eat it is definitely suffering
As a coeliac myself, this was a great video to watch! Gluten free food has come a long way and it is a lot easier as awareness has increased, thank you for trying them out too :) x
I found it much easier just to eat whole foods like meats, cheeses, fruits, plain nuts, honey, and then gluten free grains like rice. It's less expensive if you don't strive to eat processed stuff, just eat like you're from Japan. Lmao. Rice, eggs, fish, pork, fruits, fish sauce, milk, vinegar. But most things are actually gluten free. Only tricky stuff are some sausages, deli meats, and hot dogs can have fillers.
I've been surprised at how many gluten-free things I actually prefer! I like the texture better most of the time. Especially toast; it has a nicer crunch.
I'm not celiac but wheat triggers asthma in me. It's been a long battle finding foods that taste good and don't cost an arm and a leg to buy. But love your video!
I know wheat and gluten bothers me, organic doesn’t bother me. I believe it’s the way our flour and wheat is processed. The pesticides don’t get completely washed off and unfortunately it gets into our food
The delight in Cam's voice at 6:01is hilarious and adorable 😂 I also love how these guys are such good pals that they share germs without stressing about it
Gluten is the structure that holds certain things like bread together in a type of framework so when you knead dough a lot you work up the gluten in it. The only people who have to avoid gluten is people with celiac disease because they can't digest it for everybody else going gluten free is not necessary because gluten is not harmful for them.
Technically that's incorrect. People who are gluten sensitive also are better off avoiding it. Also people who have wheat allergies are encouraged to stop eating gluten since so many items containing wheat also contain gluten.
And if you overcook them, good luck 😭 it has been a learning curve for me lol i like the Aldi GF pasta - it has the most similar texture to what i was used to in reg pasta. I missed noodles so bad
Celiac Folks: A good recipe that tastes delicious is Chicken and Waffles. You go to Kroger (Ralph’s in some areas) and get the traditional gluten free bread crumbs. then you take it and put egg on the chicken, coat it and then egg it again and coat it again. Get some syrup and you have amazing chicken and waffles!!!!!!
Im celiac and so are my 2 kids. My whole house is GF. Even my husband who doesnt have to be. I love watching people eat gluten free things and often times being surprised.
You definitely can taste the difference, but if you have either a choice between taste + suffering or less tasty and feeling good...the choice still sucks. There are other autoimmune issues than just celiac that force avoiding gluten.
Haven't watched yet, but I screamed inside when I saw the title. This is my life now and I can't wait to see what y'all think of the foods I eat. :) Edit: Glad y'all like some gluten free food. Y'all's reactions were amazing.
I was diagnosed with celiac disease when I was 17 (9 years ago now) and I do miss some things. I get my bread and pasta from my Doctor on prescription and it is naaaastyyy, its so carboardy, I could make my Christmas cards from it 🤣! Loved this video tho!
I also find that some gluten free foods taste better and they're better for you! My sister can't eat wheat or gluten and always feels like she's missing out I've told her to watch this!
For a celiac person it' s actually hard to not have that feeling of missing out because you see everyone around you having access to everything easily and it tastes good, but you can't, especially if the person lived some years eating gluten like any normal person, just thinking about that delicious taste of bread while eating gluten free bread breaks your heart 😢 at least that's how it is for me.
My sister too tries to comfort me like you said but it doesn't work hhhhh for normal people eating gluten free tastes good because they choose to try it, but for us it's not a choice but something you are forced to eat so it never tastes good.
You can totally taste a difference between gluten free and gluten. BTW if you don't have celiac MOD has some pretty good gluten free pizza. birtchwood has a great paleo pancake mix I get it at Costco. It's yummy
Austin and Cam I want to start by saying MY Husband and I Love watching your videos, I was curious if you could do one on sugar free coffee creamer VS regular and see if you can tell the difference
The biggest issue I've encountered is people not taking it seriously, and thinking that it's a dietary CHOICE instead of realizing that exposure to gluten makes me violently sick. Restaurants are damn near impossible
Some restaurants take it really seriously, others... Ugh. Ive found local burger joints to be the most accomodating, weirdly. Maybe bc it is easier for them to avoid cross contamination

I have literally watched every single video of urs and i have laughed so hard my sides nearly split. my all time favourite video of your is the tiny hands challenge. i'm workin on getting my parents to buy me your merch !! i love you guys so much, you make me laugh every single video x
Gluten free can be good but it all depends on the flour used. Often times to make it taste "normal" they add more sugar and some chemicals. Other times gluten is simply a preservative (in spices, sauces, etc)
Yeah when Gluten free stuff was first a thing it was disgusting lol but they have greatly improved!!!! You can tell the difference between gluten and gluten free :) I'm allergic to dairy. I'd love if you tried dairy free stuff!
It is considerably more expensive here, too! I personally buy GF alternatives of glutsn foods as a treat and otherwise eat naturally gluten free foods bc it is just too expensive.
Thanks so much for the shout out! ❤️ You guys did so good! Gluten free bread is super bouncy and dense. Come on over to my house and you wouldn't tell a difference that food is gluten free. 😉 You should do a part two in the future!

Hailey & a Spoon yes i agree this video made me so happy as person who struggles with this dietary restriction
A collab!!! That’s what we need!! A part 2 collab!!
Please do more you are doing a public service for those who are gluten intolerant or diabetic.
Pizza folder here!
As someone who is gluten free due to allergies. If it doesn't taste a little sketchy it isn't gluten free. Lol
Ashley Singleton this is facts lol
Completely agree. You can also see the difference once you've been gluten free for a while.
Ashley Singleton true . im allergic to dairy and gluten because of my eoe but sometimes gluten-free food isn’t enjoyable sometimes .
Spot on 😂👏🏻
Agreed
and the other difference is price!!! we pay way more for gluten free, well we do in the uk any way.
Same in Australia.
Yes it’s more expensive and you typically get less or the products themselves are smaller in size! (I live in the us)
In way more expensive here in Canada too. The only acceptation is Walmart, they sell some great value gluten free products that are half the price as everything else.
Yeah so expensive in germany too :(
Super expensive in Australia

Gluten free can be good but it all depends on the flour used. Often times to make it taste "normal" they add more sugar and some chemicals. Other times gluten is simply a preservative (in spices, sauces, etc)
Yeah when Gluten free stuff was first a thing it was disgusting lol but they have greatly improved!!!! You can tell the difference between gluten and gluten free :) I'm allergic to dairy. I'd love if you tried dairy free stuff!
Shape Mac and cheese is always better!
Austin look so much different without the glasses 😂
I don't know about the States, but gluten free food in Canada is super expensive.
It is considerably more expensive here, too! I personally buy GF alternatives of glutsn foods as a treat and otherwise eat naturally gluten free foods bc it is just too expensive.
I agree with Cam the shapes are the best lol
Agreed!!!!
It’s nice to see people open to trying gluten free food
People should try to stop eating flour(from wheat, oats, barley, and rye) for a month and see what happens. I did it and lost 22lb.
I think the shapes of Mac and cheese are worse, because they don't cook as evenly. You always get one or two that are way too crunchy.
I love the way he said waffles reminded me of donkey. Lol the excitement behind it.
The end feeling of the bread that falls apart!!! OMG my life everyday lol totally a texture thing lol
I completely agree with the shapes!!! And I have always been the only person I have known to think that!!
