    Thanks so much for the shout out! ❤️ You guys did so good! Gluten free bread is super bouncy and dense. Come on over to my house and you wouldn't tell a difference that food is gluten free. 😉 You should do a part two in the future!

      i'd love to see a part two of them trying the same product with different gluten-free substitutes. Like pancakes with almond flour, a flour mix with xanthan gum, a flour mix with bean flours, a flour mix with arrowroot and rice flours, etc. I think it would be interesting to see if they can tell a difference between the flavors. i can! :)

    • @ellyclaire1996
      @ellyclaire1996 5 лет назад +3

      변에리 I always make gluten free pizza crust but don’t tell anyone that it’s gluten free and I people ask me for my crust recipe because it tastes like takeout. It’s my own recipe that took years to prefect and it doesn’t have this dissolving texture that they complain about in this video.
      Also there’s a Canadian company (Little Northern Bakehouse) that makes gluten free bread that has the same texture as regular bread. I can’t choke down any other gluten free bread (unless it’s toasted, that helps)
      I also make gluten free cream puffs that taste identical, they just don’t puff up as high, but I was thinking that next time I might try adding some baking powder. But other than that I use just a regular cream puff recipe and substitute the flour with 50% glutinous rice flour (which is made from sticky rice/sushi rice and doesn’t contain any gluten) and 50% of any other gluten free flour. White rice flour makes it taste like regular cream puffs, but any flour works and some flour mixes puff up better. It’s usually a bit too runny so I add a little more flour after cooking it on the stove top, till I reach the desired consistency, and this would be the step where I was thinking to add the baking powder, just so it the heat doesn’t activate the baking powder before sticking it in the oven.
      My pizza crust also uses glutenous rice flour (AKA sweet rice flour). You have to cook a small portion of it so it becomes like mochi and then thoroughly knead it into the rest of the dough. The dough feels exactly like play dough and needs to be pressed into the pan, and for best results, it needs to be pre-baked for about 10 mins.
      I use the same recipe for cinnamon rolls, but they don’t turn out as well as regular cinnamon rolls because they don’t puff up as much and they’re too crispy (the pizza crust is like a crispy, thin crust pizza... not what you’re looking for in a cinnamon roll, but better than nothing)

It's less expensive if you don't strive to eat processed stuff, just eat like you're from Japan. Lmao. Rice, eggs, fish, pork, fruits, fish sauce, milk, vinegar. But most things are actually gluten free. Only tricky stuff are some sausages, deli meats, and hot dogs can have fillers.

    Gluten is the structure that holds certain things like bread together in a type of framework so when you knead dough a lot you work up the gluten in it. The only people who have to avoid gluten is people with celiac disease because they can't digest it for everybody else going gluten free is not necessary because gluten is not harmful for them.

    • @justjennb11
      @justjennb11 5 лет назад +1

      Technically that's incorrect. People who are gluten sensitive also are better off avoiding it. Also people who have wheat allergies are encouraged to stop eating gluten since so many items containing wheat also contain gluten.

    Celiac Folks: A good recipe that tastes delicious is Chicken and Waffles.
    You go to Kroger (Ralph’s in some areas) and get the traditional gluten free bread crumbs. then you take it and put egg on the chicken, coat it and then egg it again and coat it again. You put that in the oven at 400° and for 20 minutes ish or until it’s cooked. Then you go to Trader Joe’s and get the waffle/pancake mix and make waffles. Get some syrup and you have amazing chicken and waffles!!!!!!

      For a celiac person it' s actually hard to not have that feeling of missing out because you see everyone around you having access to everything easily and it tastes good, but you can't, especially if the person lived some years eating gluten like any normal person, just thinking about that delicious taste of bread while eating gluten free bread breaks your heart 😢 at least that's how it is for me.

      My sister too tries to comfort me like you said but it doesn't work hhhhh for normal people eating gluten free tastes good because they choose to try it, but for us it's not a choice but something you are forced to eat so it never tastes good.

    You can totally taste a difference between gluten free and gluten. BTW if you don't have celiac MOD has some pretty good gluten free pizza. birtchwood has a great paleo pancake mix I get it at Costco. It's yummy

    The biggest issue I've encountered is people not taking it seriously, and thinking that it's a dietary CHOICE instead of realizing that exposure to gluten makes me violently sick.

      Some restaurants take it really seriously, others... Ugh. Ive found local burger joints to be the most accomodating, weirdly. Maybe bc it is easier for them to avoid cross contamination

    Cam I agree it needs a better noddle to cheese ratio so I usually only cook a little over half the noodles provided to even it out. LOL

    Gluten free can be good but it all depends on the flour used. Often times to make it taste "normal" they add more sugar and some chemicals. Other times gluten is simply a preservative (in spices, sauces, etc)

    I think the shapes of Mac and cheese are worse, because they don't cook as evenly. You always get one or two that are way too crunchy.
