Practice everyday, focus on the mechanics, not making the putt. The arm is there to guide the disc. The power comes from the weight transfer in the legs. Once you've got that down it's just about dialing in height and keeping your muscle memory through constant practice.
So, you wanna be the best in the world . . . well . . . you gotta get through Sockibomb . . . and that ain't gonna be easy!!! A thing of beauty, this round.
It does take a few lucky breaks to have a day like this too. For instance- rickys roller off the tee on hole 9, right thru bush, lol .His putting is sick though
Nice round, some great long putts to keep the momentum going. Pity about the last 10m one. I was sure he'd make it after the other three super long putts he drained =)
+760BRWNteam An 1100 rated round is not "cake" for players of any caliber. Shooting -14 on any course is an impressive feat that very few players can say they've done, especially at a tournament. And how exactly do you think par 4s would inherently make a course harder? There are easy par 3s and hard par 3s, and easy par 4s and hard par 4s. Have Ricky play a course with a bunch of wide open 550 foot par 4s and he would shoot a better score than this easily. This course may be all par 3s, but most shots are very technical and the course requires a vast array of skills to perfect like Ricky did this round, with some very tight lines and strategically aimed skip shots and rollers to navigate all the obstacles. Just because all the baskets are reachable with one drive instead of two doesn't make the shots any easier to throw. I'm sorry, but I simply have to disagree with the idea that par 4s somehow automatically make a course harder.
+Pure Hyzer Productions Yep, definitely plenty of difficult par 3s on this. No "gimmes" for someone who's not a pro, and only a couple of gimmes for pros.
Agreed! Shady is such a technical course, and it's hard to capture that on camera especially when Ricky is making it look easy! This video is one of my favs since Shady is my home course and I like to see the lines the pros throw, and they are hard lines to throw consistently. Shady is a great course that challenges all aspects of throwing. Ricky shows why he is ranked #1 right now!
I'm glad you enjoy my videos Wesley, but I'm sorry to disappoint you... I probably won't be uploading anything for quite some time. I already do video editing for my full time job and I got really burnt out on also spending all of my free time video editing to make PHP possible. If it can be my job some day I'll be all over it, but for now as long as my choice is to either spend my free time playing disc golf *or* filming and editing disc golf, I've chosen to focus on playing. Trying to juggle my day job and PHP was far too stressful and draining for me, spending 60+ hours a week in front of the computer, etc.
Oh wow that sounds pretty hectic! Thanks for the reply man, I definitely understand. I hope to see some new videos eventually, if you ever need help filming or anything up near paradise or Chico let me know and I'd be happy to come help you out.
I appreciate that Wesley, but honestly the filming itself is pretty fun... it was more all the editing that I got tired of doing, particularly because video editing is already my full time job. As I've told many others who've asked the same thing... perhaps if my day job was active and outdoors I might feel ok about editing disc golf videos as a hobby, but when my job is already 100% in front of my computer the last thing I want to do with my free time is spend more time just sitting and editing. I'm really hoping that some day the sport grows enough that it can become my job though. If I could work full time on disc golf videos and still have a life that would be awesome. :-P
Can someone explain to me how this is a round rating of 1100? New to disc golf and don't get it. I thought you get 10 points over or under 1000 for every stroke you are under or over par. wouldnt this be a 1140?
Shooting 5 strokes better than everyone will do that for ya when there are players rated as high as some of them are. The course doesn't seem to hard to get at least 3 on every hole so shooting in the negatives seems simple but a -14 is just tearing it up.
+Garrett Russell I hear ya. If everyone played as bad as me and with the same impossibility bad luck, there would be no sport we call " disc golf ". Would have fizzled out long ago.
Ricky is the only player allowed to be upset about missing a 60 footer.
I love the inclusion of UDisc score card to follow the round. Looks very nice...and the video is great!
What a round!
WOW. And what a cool looking course.
His drives just always amaze me...such good placement!
That is an amazing piece of disc golf history right there!
Amazing round and a nice montage love your videos!
+kallrrr Thank you!
Nice to hear Nikko speaking positively for a change. You can see he is excited to witness a great round.
Must have missed event on EPSN 8 - The Ocho the other day.
He had more than a triple turkey in a row... that's a gobble gobble gobble!
My favorite disc golfer of all time. I try to practice this mans putting form everyday.
Can someone teach me how to putt like this? I would like to stop sucking
+ATurtlePuncher Isn't he the best putter!>?

Please give Paul some competition this year...

lol 2:06 keep turrrrrnnnniiinnnnn
Very nice.
All of my rounds over 1000 started and ended with a missed putt. The struggle is real!!
Your 2016 World champ right here
and 2017
Somebody get this man a world title, already.
14 birdies on that course is killn it-impressive
Magic!
Not being negative, but I would've like to see some par 4s. This is cake for players of that caliber.

My name is Ricky Wysocki and im here to make your course look like a pitch and putt!
I miss seeing new videos every couple of weeks...will you be uploading more soon?

Sweet baby jesus...
Like It!
anyone know the course record? a can't imagine it is a lot lower than -14
dalcowboiz Derek Billings has shot a -16 on the course I believe.
Wow! Can't say anything else!

www.pdga.com/faq/ratings
CodiTheJedi They are based on what other pros shoot on that course. At your average course 1000 rated round is usually well below par.
thank you.
BAM! What would the round be rated, if he didn't miss 1,4,and 18?
Well, it looks like one stroke was about 10 points during this round, so the round rating would have been 1130 or so if he had hit those putts... :-O

He should have birdied 1, 4 and 18, too!
I think "could" is the more appropriate word here. Yes, his only bad drive was on #15. Amazing!
Walk soft and carry a big putt. Nice Rick.
Pretty good round..
Looks like he hardly moves his arm and the putts go 50+ feet. I don't get it.
+bouchercm8 Legwork! It's all in the legs! :)
its allll in the hips, its allllll in the hips
wow
In the rain yet
Its not the 1st time he did!
SHADY OOOAAAKKKSSSS!!!
I should just quit disc golf.
+Garrett Russell I hear ya. If everyone played as bad as me and with the same impossibility bad luck, there would be no sport we call " disc golf ". Would have fizzled out long ago.
Hole 8 putt, ricky calm down
This was undeniably a great round of golf... But 1100?? Ehhhh.
Well, it actually was an 1100. www.pdga.com/tour/event/24326#MPO
+Steven Scarborough I understand that. That's why I said it.
that was some amazing putting, he almost got all of them.
I mean, what did you want him to do? Birdie every single hole?
Seriously. Only 10 birdies in a row. What a scrub.
