      You have to remember there are two types of pickup trucks. Work trucks and Luxury trucks. Luxury Trucks are for those who have the cash and will be used as family vehicles and will be used for work. But a true work truck or affordable truck is a regular cab, 8 ft bed with 4x4. That's it. So if you want a truck that's what a normal person with not as much cash should be buying. Not these land Yacht....sadly I see it every day. Someone who should not be buying a 100k truck, buy it because they think they need a back seat and shiny trim with a big computer screen in the middle of the dash and enough room for 8 people. They don't. But people get what's popular. They don't want the work configuration trucks we mostly saw on the road before the 2000's. If they want something with room they should get an affordable SUV...

      $100k is a lot for a vehicle, yes. But bear in mind, the same truck in 1995 would’ve cost you $50k. Inflation is more of a concern than is your jealousy some people can afford to buy a vehicle like this. I’m jealous too. I had to settle for a $75k jalopy in 2023.

    When we got our 2019 GMC 4X4 SLT Sierra 1/2 ton back then, it was close to $70,000 which is crazy how much trucks are now, compared to 20/40 years ago. So gmc’s prices are always higher than Chevy because of what they offer. Even way back in 90’s when I was in high school, it was the same way back then. So fast forward to now, everything is more expensive and sometimes hard to attain. This new 2024 HD AEV AT4X truck is awesome. Wishful thinking of the price was lower, but with all the technology put in, what it can do, it’s a all around truck. You got cars that are 60/70/80/90/100 thousand dollars that can’t go off roading, you are better off spending your hard earned money on this truck for what it has inside, outside, and what it can do overall. So I feel GM did a excellent job in making this truck. You practically don’t have to do anything to it, just leave it stock how you bought it.

      Good looking truck. Prices are stupid though. I’ve always liked the GMC trucks. Only issue is with the newest gen’s they took away a lot of the storage for the front. Trailer brake is in a weird place that takes away storage and for the love of god why did they decide it would be a good idea to remove the storage area on the dash??? It's a top-of-the-line luxury off-roader. People whine about the high price of the top trims with tons of technology features that didn't exist 10+ years ago, but totally overlook the base or work trims (and even those have Android Auto/CarPlay capability). If you want a truck with low prices, stop looking at top luxury trims and buy a bare-bones work truck.

  • @charlesb4267
    @charlesb4267 5 месяцев назад

    Tim, I was wondering what your impressions are so far in using the GM upscale if you will dash design that has the vents above the info center only on the upper trim levels such as the AT4, Denali etc ( on the SLE and SLT its the style you had in your chevy 3.0 diesel High Country ) since you have had quite a lot of seat time in the 1/2 ton chevy that had the version of vents to either side of the info center and also the vents to either extreme end of the dash are different as well. Its probably hard to tell it all until one is in the middle of winter and fighting frost on the side windows or also hot temps during the summer to know how the vents perform. I have heard complaints from those that own the higher end GM dash in the HD trucks because the column automatic shift knob becomes in the way of line of sight to the info center in drive position but that is all I have heard so far.

    This is by far the best looking truck on the market. It is just way to expensive. People who can actually afford this truck, most likely will never go off road. 105k for the AEV is insane. After you pay interest, your looking at probably 140k. Not to mention insurance and excise tax will be stupidly high. The depreciation on HD trucks is terrible as well. You put 10k miles on this thing,.. there goes 30 grand off the value.
    Ill wait till I can find one cheaper at auction that was repossessed due to high payments .

    65-75k is probably where this price of this truck should exist. A lot of the creature comforts could go in this truck while leaving the functional parts there would be where it would really shine as an off-road work truck.

    I have the 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 AT4X AEV Edition (Duramax) and I know its heavier than Non AEV edition. Its an amazing truck no doubt. You said it drives like a sedan; I'm not sure mine does, there is some bounce and at times it can get unbearable on less than perfect freeways at almost any speed and 200 of the 300 mile drive home from the dealer was not pleasant. I spent heck of a lot more, paid over 126k including tax and dealer premium. GMC tell me, after extensive tests, its normal. One or two other reviews mention this bouncing effect perhaps its more pronounced on the AEV Edition. Being desperate, having spent so much on this new truck, I replaced all tires with Mickey Thomson Baja Boss (that set me back another $2661) and reduced tire pressures front and back. I have to take this on a longer drive. I think its the Multimatic DSSV, either I have a defective set on mine or its something else. GMC is no help at this time. Please give me an honest opinion about no load ride quality on an average freeway, not ones smooth as glass.

      Probably extra weight of the diesel. Think I'm leaning toward V8 for better offroad and ride mix. I've got a power wagon and they don't have diesels for that weight reason

    95K for a truck is just so crazy. Are people not batting an eye because theyve become complacent with the rise in costs of these vehicles or do they really believe the features are worth almost six-figures? Seems out of reach to most regular blue collar folks looking for a truck.

    I see lifted trucks pulling 5th wheels often.
    I think younger folks find the tall truck easy to get in. Many many many years ago I had a 1983 F-150 I removed the twin I-beam 4x4 differential and replaced with a 1979 F-150 solid axle with coils springs. I first lifted it 5.5”, the. 8.5” then finally ended up with 18” lift and 44” monster mudder tires..I could get in easy but carried a step ladder for dates. It was a lot of fun. I graduated from college joined the Navy then sold.. became an airline pilot … guess Flying-Hi was something in my blood lol (for you older guys Flying-Hi will mean more to you all if we’re into lifted trucks jeeps and the occasional lifted ElCamino.

      Because you don't see the value in your situation. It's like a private jet, people get them because they make life easier and their time is worth more than the cost of the plane. If your job required you to get places really fast you'd pay more for a fast car so you could make more money. People who drive long distances and also need offroad capability value spending money on the performance and comfort of a high end truck. Nothing wrong with it

    I like the way the truck works with the lift definitely will get the EV package do you spend that much almost with aftermarket stuff anyway 105 is a lot of money though that’s not even including tax and license. Do you probably looking at 125 to 135 out the door payments will probably be 1000 to 1500 a month, One question the lift, kit how much overstock difference in height?……. well, if you’re gonna go go big or go home

      New off-road mode does 95% of the job of a front e-locker and the additional gear of the front e-locker really isn’t needed. It is like with axle ratios, new technology and multi-gear transmissions have made the bigger rear axle ratio not needed.
      In short, technology replaces hardware.

    Nice truck. Needs shorter tires-33-32”. I am 5’8”+. Gotta get that + in there. Price is outrageous. Now that truck lots are packed, GMC will have to start cutting prices. With the economy tanking even more, prices will continue to fall. When dealers start dumping trucks at auction, the prices should hit 105K down to mid $80’s at auction. I will wait till that happens.
