I’ll save you all time. Get a base model heavy duty truck with a gas V8 engine for reliability. Skip all the options because you don’t need them!
To be fair, I don't think having the options is as much of a liability as most people say. Most people will have very few issues and most will be minor. And then even if every single camera and adaptive cruise control sensor were to fail on your fancy truck, the internals are still the same as the base models.
This is the way lol. Just too bad on the size and mpg (or lack thereof).
How boring.....no thanks.
@@Dusdaddy Trucks are meant to be boring and do a job reliably. Get an audi or something if you want fast luxury.
How about everyone buys what THEY want ?
I'd have an easier time believing Jill is 6ft 5 and Tim is a scratch golfer than JD's reliability rankings.
Yep, pure fake news...like the moon landing.
It’s just data, there is no “believe”.
6.6 gas would be my Engine of choice Tim.
I’ve been happy with my 22 2500hd wt with the 6.6 gas
The 2022 Tundra won't be on the list when surveyed in 2025...
The HDs are best thing they have ever made in the last 20 years easily
Good job, Tim! Thanks for the information.
Specifically on half tons and up, GM has been making the most durable Trucks since the 90s. The only ones competing or tying them is the 2nd Gen Tundra
I have '18 F-150 3.0L diesel only do scheduled maintenance. It's the most reliable truck. Everything works!
Does it still have a DPF?
@@hochhaul No. It has DEF.
Would you recommend buying a used one?
@@nonexistence7986yes if you can find a good one
It basically narrowed down to gm and toyota ! Gm still sells way more trucks and toyota reliability tanked !
GM has had some bad model years with DFM lifters but I'd rather have to replace some lifters out of warranty than replace an engine for $30k+. I'd say the 3.0 Duramax with 3.73's is a great choice for a half-ton and if I were to buy a 3/4-ton it would be the 6.6L gas engine.
I'm curious to see what ultimately happens with the Tundra's powertrain. I don't buy the excuse that the bearing failures were just debris from machining at the factory. It doesn't take 25k miles for debris to break free and destroy bearings.
The reason Chevrolet HD lost for 2024 is they are eat up with problems. Mine it going to the shop for the 3rd time with transmission problems. Very hard shifts. I’ve started a case with GM.
Doesn't matter how reliable GM trucks may (or may not) be; they still haven't figured out how to keep the bodies and frames from rusting out prematurely.
It’s hard to measure. Minor issues are often overly weighted…
The annoyances of infotainment or bad oem tires, vs complete engine failure…
So much this. When you really dig into it, almost none of the "reliability issues" are things that put your vehicle out of commission and/or cost you a ton of money.
Yeah, I first want to know which engine and transmission combo will be most reliable with proper maintenance, period.
@@rickclark4714yeah, and when you look at that, almost everything that's not a turbo and/or hybrid is pretty damn solid lol
The current 2.7 ford seems no worse than the v8….? But
I’d like this channel to do a video on that with some data.
My 2023 7.3 gas F350 is my choice.
3 years...I just traded in mine I had for 17 years. How much of a study is that?
Ford seats in my F-150 are so much better than the 4 Chevy trucks I've owned...
Ford wants you comfortable before the tow truck arrives.
Ford has far better seats and support compared to chev and gm.
Word of advice. When you are trying to convey a message and share information, slow your speech and speak your words clearly
You should use an ad blocker if you’re going through your site, the ads are distracting.
What a shocker. No one builds a perfect truck.
I know Toyota has a huge problem on their hands and how they deal with it and the customer will determine whether I buy another Toyota truck.
They have done right by me in the past but that good will could evaporate quickly.
I don't hold what JD power says in high regard at all.
Nope, they say whomever pays more
Jd is a GM fanboy company, I'll go by CR and Edmunds..
Edmunds seems to be the most balanced out of the three.
And CR ive noticed @@SliderFury1
@RAM-KINGOFTRUCKS• I can always count on you for unbiased opinions! Well done!👍👏🏻
@@leedanielson7452 maybe Tim should do CR and Edmunds and see what's the difference 🤔
@@RAM-KINGOFTRUCKS Right on!!!
Plain V8 trucks…,
Heavy duty gas v8 trucks seem to be the most reliable out of the American vehicles. Toyota does good with there hybrids.
Using rankings to measure reliability is totally worthless. The difference betweeen each truck may be so small as to be meaningless. Ok to do these posts for clicks but they don’t help people compare reliability.
I drive a 2020 F350. That lane departure warning is totally worthless. Turned all that driver safety crap off. Ended up being more dangerous and distracting because it created so much beeping and buzzing it felt like I was in a damn casino. Actually made the driving MORE dangerous not less.
Would you be afraid to buy a new sequoia?
JD Power. Biased towards GM. Enough said. Wasted video
Or maybe you’re just biased against them. They do sell more full-size trucks than anyone else, so there’s naturally going to be more complaint videos on RUclips. I just know from personal experience their problems appear to be far more common on RUclips than what I have experienced in real life. My number one complaint would be frame rust, but that depends on what part of the country you live in. As far as lifter problems,It’s not something I’ve ever experienced. I know it’s an issue, but it’s a bigger issue in some peoples minds than it is in real life, especially if you service and maintain the vehicle properly.
Maybe I have read in other places about JD Power GM bias but mostly my bias is based on people I know with engine and transmission failures astlow miles. I would love to believe this info from JD Power to be true. I’ll reserve judgement based on people I know. I have an employee who just bought a nice looking Silverado. Hope that she has a reliable truck.
That's very naive thinking. Being a company like JD Power and being biased towards brand would be the last thing they would ever want. Their whole business and reputation are at stake. No pay off from GM would be worth altering data. Another one of those crazy conspiracy theories because their data doesn't agree with someone.
You’re just biased for your brand 🤷♂️
@@Billybob50119 Yep, obviously a Ford owner.
JD power reliability is a joke
