TLDR, people are misunderstanding the subtext. Jesus wasn't trying to say "you're wrong, I'm not good.", he was actually trying to say "you understand that you're calling me God, right?"

Probably no one will see this, but I'd like to share a testimony anyways.
I used to be unitarian, and i too would use this passage to defend my views. However this all changed when I had a very powerful dream.
I was sick at the time with a respiratory infection, and I was praying for healing as I had to be well for my highly physically taxing job.
One night I woke-up halfway, like when you have sleep paralysis and there before was Jesus. He looked over me with his arms stretched out, and asked me "why have you not confessed that I am God?"
Now, I'm a mathematician too, and my problem is that I could not rationalize a being that is both God and Man simultaneously. Jesus knew this was in my heart when I asked him how he could be both.
Of course, being God, he knew exactly what to set in my mind: superposition. Just as in quantum mechanics something can be simultaneously spin up and down (two otherwise opposing states), I realized Jesus could be simultaneously God and Man.
Then He told me "confess now that I am truly God and be healed" and with my new revelation, I did so, proclaiming Lord Jesus you are truly God almighty in the flesh.
I felt the most comforting feeling and warmness consume me, and I felt my spirit crying for joy and God's glory. Then I fell back asleep.
When I woke up in the morning, my shortness of breath was gone, my lungs cleared, cough gone, I had indeed been healed.
Now my faith in Jesus is stronger than ever, ans I wholeheartedly accept his divinity. He is God, God really did allow his spririt to be born into flesh, as the man Jesus.

@id744 Hey, even the heretics believed Jesus was God in the rejected Gospel of Thomas Jesus, who says that he is one with two others showing the trinity and that he is omniscient that you will find Jesus everywhere in existence.
You don’t even need the Gospel of Mark to prove Jesus is God. The Gospel of John straight up tells you he is at the start.
True but critics will say that Mark came first and Jesus divinity was a later development.

@@LUCKY-lf2jv As John puts it, "The Word was with God and the Word WAS God." The person of the Son is of the same substance as the Father, meaning you can call the Father and the Son God. (though be sure not to call the Father the Son and vice versa.)
By Jesus saying: "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone." I always took it as him saying, "If you're calling me good, and God alone is good, are you calling me God?".
Read in isolation, through trinitarian glasses, it makes perfect sense.

But we need to remember that Unitarians are not saved, so they don’t have spiritual eyes to see.
The real question is ..... Who is Jesus' God in heaven currently who he is serving as high priest forever? This is also my God. Jesus and I serve the same single person as the "Only True God" because Jesus is my lord and master. You serve a different god than Jesus. I think you should know that. His body also serves the same God. The body isn't disjointed from the head. Repent of the trinity false idol.

He was likely trying to pull a socrates by asking him a question to get an abstract or deeper answer. Jesus questioned his very reason for calling him good. Not denying that he was. And exactly like Testify explained, he was attributing it to its divine origin.

Jesus was testing to see if she really wanted help. always challenging followers to go deeper whether needing help or seeking truth, etc.
That really shows what the passage was saying about the ruler, and us. He did not realize Jesus was God because, unlike Simon, this had not been revealed to him. And it was not revealed to him because his heart was not prepared, as Jesus pointed out to him. "There is none that is good" even if they obey the commandments if their hearts are not pointed to Jesus.
Christ calls himself the son of God in both of your scriptures and you still somehow have the notion that is he God himself?

@@Austin-kt7ky I did. Here are some for you to read 1 Timothy 2:5, 1 Corinthians 8:6, John 14:28, 1 Peter 1:3, John 6:38, John 7:16, John 14:28, Matthew 28:18 and most importantly Luke 3:21, 22. In Luke the heavens literally open up before Jesus and God speaks down to him and says "You are my son" it doesn't get any simpler than that! What do you think? God bless you

How could God he trinue if the persons of the Trinity are distinguished. If the persons are distinguished, then there is contingencies and dependence on those distinctions. If the Trinity has dependence, then it is not God since God is independence or uncontingent.
The thing is, if you go into the Bible looking for "gotchas" without trying to understand the underlying teachings, you will find plenty of evidence for things the Bible doesn't actually teach.
You only find contradictions if you look for them, like a type of confirmation bias. Most of them are usually discrepancies or straight up misunderstandings that can be reconciled.
@@Theophoruz I think that is the point Steve is trying to make. People are going into the Bible with the wrong mindset clouded and blinded by lies and misconceptions. You can tell right away who reads their Bible and who actually studies it.
It also works the other way. If you go into the bible looking for what you want to believe or do believe already, you'll miss the things that contradict them or you'll look for excuses as to whether or not it's the "correct reading" which Christian websites will readily affirm that it isn't and you're supposed to look at this verse in another book which says what they want to hear even though it's out of context.

1:56 this is why Jesus stooped down to write with his finger in John 8:6 because they cite the Law of Moses in their attempt to catch him but he is demonstrating his finger is the one that wrote the law. He is God.
To a Jew in the first century reading this would’ve made it obvious what John was saying about Jesus.
The Gospels together give us a complete understanding of Jesus from 4 different sources.
Huh. That's an interesting observation I hadn't thought of.
When I first read the story, I was caught up on speculation about WHAT he was writing, like...he was airing some of the Pharisees dirty laundry, so they began leaving in embarrassment.
Before reading this, I was caught up in how cleverly he turned their trap back on themselves, forcing them to claim (even inadvertently or to try denying it afterwards) to be without sin in order to cast the first stone, among a group of people who all think they were the only real holy ones.
But this...hmm, this gives me something new to consider that never occurred to me. Thank you!
@@thegrimharvest read Leviticus 20:10 and see the actual Law they’re referring to. They were in violation of the law because they brought a woman but no man despite the law saying both deserve stoning. Also the judge decides the punishment after hearing witnesses not a mob rule like they tried. Another way Jesus caught them in trap because they weren’t even following the law to begin with!

This might suggest a more radical reason why it happened that way - most of them engaged in adultery or similar sin, just one of them was cought.

Another way to look at it is Jesus was challenging the rich young man to see Jesus as God
The man called Jesus "good teacher" and Jesus saying "no one is good but God" is basically asking him "since you say I am good, do you see me as God?"
That perspective of seeing Jesus as a teacher prevented the young man from taking one step further after hearing the instruction

@@AhmedHassan-vo5fz there are a lot of ways to explain for/against why Jesus specifically called out the "good" part and not the "teacher" part. your argument is valid. but there are plenty other ways to look at it. one view is that Jesus doesn't outrightly reveal Himself as God often - He wants to give an opportunity for people to see Him as God through their own revelation (hence speaking in parables and challenging the rich young man indirectly). also, Jesus seemed to want to challenge the man's definition of "good". to the man, him obeying the laws should qualify him for eternal life. yet Jesus says even that is not good enough. the other underlying meaning is that only God can truly be "good" enough and that is why Jesus Himself had to come and fulfil the law on behalf of men
Perfect timing! I just finished reading Mark 10 because it's scheduled in my daily reading tonight. My study Bible and Commentaries were not of much help. So I decided to wash our dishes and clear my mind off for a bit and play a RUclips video about Mark 10:18. I tapped the first thing that came and continued on my work. Put it like this because it’s pretty simple:
If Jesus asks “why do you call me good? There is none good but God alone”
Then why didn’t the man answer that question?
Its kinda skipped over in our minds because its skipped over in his mind and therefore skipped over in the story. But I mean the only real answer would have been “well because you’re God” but if the man believed that, the follow up question would have been “well then why am I being so rude? This is the lord standing in front of me!” If the dots connected, the man would have had a mini existential crisis in that moment and would have been on his knees begging for forgiveness right then and there. Think of it like you accidentally as a child said “yea” instead of “yes sir” to your father. Once he gave you that look, you would immediately correct your mistake. That question was supposed to act as the proverbial look.
We know that this line of thinking didn’t cross the man’s mind because that reaction wasn’t given neither was the proper respect up front. So the question isn’t Jesus denying his oneness, it was really a question of faith in the moment. The lack of faithfulness is reflected in the man turning away once the command of “sell all you have to the poor” is given. So Jesus walks away with a “hmm… exactly. Thought so” moment

I also want to point out that Jesus also calls himself later on as "I am the GOOD Shepherd" (John 10:11-18). If no one is Good except God by his own words, then why did Jesus claimed to be Good? It is very fascinating of how Jesus reveals himself in subtle ways.

Do I believe that Jesus is God? Yes.
Now how can we prove that Jesus is God? The best starting point I had is discovering the pre-existence of Christ, meaning that the bible claimed that Jesus has always existed and alive even before he was borned as a Human. Now the question that arises from this is: WHO IS JESUS BEFORE HE WAS BORNED AS A HUMAN? Some of the basic verses that supports his pre-existence are:
1. John 17:5 ("with the glory I HAD with you BEFORE THE WORLD BEGAN")
2. John 8:57-59 ("BEFORE ABRAHAM WAS, I AM" --> in the Original Greek writings, Jesus described Abraham with the word "genesthai" which means "to come into being", in context, a created one. Meanwhile, Jesus claimed himself as "Ego eimi", a declaration echoing the Exodus 3:14, the name of God "I AM". It is understood that this name is an absolute proclamation of God that he is ever-present, unchangeable, self-sufficient and eternal. Jesus echoes this proclamation and in context, claimed to be present before Abraham and possibly an uncreated being in comparison to Abraham.. That's why the Pharisees wanted to stone Jesus for blasphemy according to the law of Leviticus 24:16)
3. Revelation 22:12-16 ("I AM THE ALPHA and Omega, THE FIRST and the Last, THE BEGINNING and the End")
4.) John 17:24 ("you loved me BEFORE THE CREATION OF THE WORLD")
5.) Colossians 1:16-17 ("HE IS BEFORE ALL THINGS")
6.) John 1:1-3 ("IN THE BEGINNING WAS THE WORD.... HE WAS IN THE BEGINNING WITH GOD")
7.) Isaiah 48:16 ("I have not spoken in secret FROM THE BEGINNING; FROM THE TIME THAT IT WAS, I WAS THERE")
There are a lot more verses like this, but this is interesting enough to ask ourselves.. WHO IS JESUS BEFORE HE WAS BORNED? Well, now the bible made a huge claim that Jesus is God (Bear with me until the end I provided basic points in summary):
Isaiah:
1.) Isaiah 7:14 --> Matthew 1:23 (The son is called "GOD WITH US")
2.) Isaiah 9:6 (The son is called "Mighty GOD". "El Gibbor" in Hebrew, the same term used to describe God)
3.) Isaiah 44:6 --> Revelation 1:17-18, Revelation 22:12-16, and Revelation 2:8 (Jesus claimed a title that should only belong to GOD: The First and the Last. Btw this means that he is claiming to be Eternal, an attribute of God)
Apostle Paul:
4.) Colossians 2:9-10 (Jesus has all the fullness of Deity or GOD in Latin)
5.) Romans 9:5 (Apostle Paul directly said "Christ, who is GOD over all")
6.) Philippians 2:5-8 (Apostle Paul said Jesus was in the form or very nature GOD)
7.) Romans 8:9-10 (Apostle Paul interchangeably used Spirit of GOD with Spirit of Christ, as if they are the same)
8.) Philippians 2:10-11 → Isaiah 45:22-23 (In Isaiah, every knee shall bow and tongue shall confess to GOD, yet Paul applied this verse to Jesus)
9.) Romans 10:9-13 → Joel 2:32 (In Joel, everyone who calls on the name of YAHWEH (in the original writings of Hebrew) or GOD, will be saved and yet Paul once again applied this to Jesus)
10.) 1 Thessalonians 3:13 → Zechariah 14:5 (In case you don't know, all caps LORD in English translation is Yahweh in the original Hebrew writings of the bible, the name of God. Here in Zechariah, the Saints will come with GOD and yet once again Paul applied this to Jesus)
11.) 2 Thessalonians 1:7-8 → Isaiah 66:15 (In Isaiah, YAHWEH will come with his chariots in fire, and yet Paul again applied this to Jesus)
Apostle John, and Jesus himself:
12.) John 1:18 (Jesus was called "The only GOD", “monogenēs theos” in the original Greek writings)
13.) John 20:24-29 (Apostle Thomas called Jesus as "my GOD", and Jesus did not deny it but rather accepted it, even calling people who believe as "blessed").
14.) John 5:18 (The Religious Jews called Jesus as "making himself equal with GOD". Jesus provided examples in the following verses on how He is indeed equal with God)
15.) John 10:30-33 ("I and the Father are One" said by Jesus, which was followed by the Jews saying that Jesus is making himself as GOD. The following verses Jesus once again reasoned with them that it is true)
16.) John 8:56-58 --> Exodus 3:14-15 (Jesus claimed to be the "I AM" or "YAHWEH" in Hebrew, the name of GOD)
17.) John 13:19 --> Isaiah 48:12-22, Isaiah 43:10-13, Isaiah 46:4, Isaiah 41:4 (Jesus claimed to be the "I AM He", the GOD who has spoken in the prophecies of Isaiah, based on some interpretations of Bible Scholars and Experts)
18.) John 10:14-17 --> Zechariah 9:16, Isaiah 40:10-11, Ezekiel 34:11-16 (Jesus claimed to be 'THE' and 'ONE' Shepherd, a title that should only belong to GOD based on the Old Testament)
19.) John 12:40-41 --> Isaiah 6 (Isaiah said this because he saw Jesus according to John, but in the referred chapter, Isaiah saw the "Lord of Hosts" or in other words, GOD)
20.) John 1:1-3 and John 1:14 (The Word was with God, and the Word was GOD. John even go as far as saying that everything was created through the Word, meaning The Creator. The Word is Jesus.)
Other testimonies (Apostle Paul, Mark the Evangelist, Prophet Jeremiah, Prophet Malachi, Luke, Prophet Zechariah, and the Father, God):
21.) Malachi 3:1 and Isaiah 40:3-5 --> Malachi 4:5, Matthew 11:13-14, Mark 1, John 1:29-34, Acts 19:1-7, Matthew 3:1-12
(Malachi 3:1 and Isaiah 40:3-5 said that there would be two people who is coming, the messenger and God ("before ME"). Malachi further clarified that this messenger would be Elijah, but in the New Testament, Jesus said that John the Baptist was the Elijah to come. John would prepare the way of God based on the old testament, however in the New testament, this was fulfilled but instead, John prepared the way of Jesus. Now either the bible is wrong or the prophecies has indeed been fulfilled that John prepared the way of God, which is Jesus based on the fulfillment in New Testament)
22.) 2 Peter 1:1 (Jesus is called the GOD and Saviour. Remember Granville Sharp Rule)
23.) Jeremiah 23:5-6 and Jeremiah 33:15-16 (The King coming from the Line of David (The Messiah/Jesus) has been directly called YAHWEH Tsidkenu, the name of God. I recommend checking the original writings of the bible in Hebrew)
24.) Zechariah 12:1 and Zechariah 12:10 (Yahweh/GOD was speaking in this chapter, and later, GOD said that he would be pierced "they will look at ME whom they pierced" and they will mourn as if mourning for an only son/child. This was fulfilled in the New Testament as Jesus was pierced by Nails and a Spear, and mourned by the people as the SON of GOD)
25.) Mark 2:5-7 (GOD is the only one who is allowed to forgive sins, yet Jesus did it. In the next verses, Jesus claimed to be the "SON OF MAN", a title of deity who will be worshiped and even do something God can only do in the Old testament, that is coming on the clouds of Heaven. This is based on the prophecy of Daniel 7:13-14. This is a very surprising verse from the Old Testament as the bible made it clear that we must only Worship God, and yet here a Human would be worshipped)
26.) Hebrews 1:2-3 (Jesus is the radiance and the EXACT imprint of GOD, and even goes as far as saying that it is through Jesus everything was created and uphold/sustained in the universe)
27.) Acts 20:28 (GOD purchased his Church through his Blood. The Father is a spirit with no Blood, so who is this God with Blood? Well the claim of the Apostle Paul is that Jesus has as he is both fully Human and fully GOD)
28.) Luke 7:14-16 (The people called Jesus as "GOD has visited His people")
29.) Titus 2:13-14 (Jesus is called "Great GOD and Saviour)
30.) Hebrews 1:6-12 (The Heavenly Father directly called Jesus as GOD, yet the Father also called himself God (as stated "Your Throne, O GOD" ..................... "Therefore GOD, your GOD"). The Father even made a wild claim that Jesus is the one who laid the foundations of the Earth and Heaven, the Creator.
And these are not even all of the verses that provide us evidences of who Jesus truly is. I was able to observe the deity of Christ based in the following categories:
1. Jesus is PROCLAIMED as God
2. Jesus is described with ATTRIBUTES of God
3. Jesus claimed TITLES that should only belong to God
4. Jesus receive HONOR and WORSHIP that is reserved and belonging only to God
5. Jesus do DEEDS that only God can do
6. Jesus has fulfilled PROPHECIES about God, and those unfulfilled prophecies about God are applied to Jesus
Now with all these in mind, the reasonable hypothesis we can come up with is either Jesus, the Apostles, the Prophets, and the Heavenly Father is a Liar, or they are telling the truth that Jesus is God and the Father is God, and yet God is One. And the only way to justify this claim is by accepting what Jesus claimed in John 10:30-33 "I and the Father are One". Thus, the "TRINITY" or even "BINITARIAN" would start to make sense. .
Btw, other interesting verses I found that also peak my interest was:
Isaiah 48:16 and Zechariah 2:10-11 where God is speaking and yet He said that He is sent by God. GOD SENT BY GOD. How do we justify that?
Or perhaps John 1:1.. "The Word was with God, and The Word was God". GOD WITH GOD. How do we justify that?
@@youngknowledgeseekerJohn 14:10 doesn’t mean that Jesus never speaks about himself. Rather, it’s saying that Jesus doesn’t speak on his own initiative - independently from the Father.
In John 8:18, Jesus explicitly says that he bears witness of himself, along with the witness of the Father.
The Father and Son work together in perfect harmony, not separately with their own agendas (John 5:19).
“greater” doesn’t always mean greater in quality. Earlier in John 14:12, Jesus says that the disciples will perform “greater” works - not in the sense that their works will be greater in quality - but in the sense that they will perform more works and reach more people.
In John 14:13-14, Jesus implies his own divine attribute of omnipresence by being able to answer the requests of the disciples.
After Jesus goes to the Father, Jesus will answer the requests of the disciples (multiple people) wherever they are, in multiple locations (John 14:12-14).
Typically, people would say that this is something that God alone can do. I can’t think of a parallel example of anybody else being able to answer multiple people in multiple locations.
That Jesus has the same presence as the Father is reinforced in John 14:23.
When reading John 1:3-4, John 1:9, and John 15:1, we see that Jesus has the same qualities as the Father:
- the Word is everlasting and uncreated (John 1:3).
- Jesus is the First and the Last (Revelation 1:17-18).
- the Word is the true light, the source of light that gives light and life to the faithful (John 1:4 and John 1:9).
- Jesus is the true vine that is the source of goodness, apart from whom we can do nothing (John 15:1, John 15:5).
And yet, we would say these things are only attributable to God:
- God alone is everlasting and uncreated (Psalm 90:2).
- God alone is the First and the Last (Isaiah 44:6).
- God is the source of life that gives us light (Psalm 36:9, compare with John 1:4).
- God is the faithful’s everlasting light, the source of their light (Isaiah 60:19).
- God alone is the source of goodness (Mark 10:18).
Therefore, the Word is God in the sense of essence and nature. This solidarity goes beyond unity in purpose and agenda; it’s a unity of the uncreated everlasting.

When I claim someone is a good Christian I'm not claiming they are good enough to go to heaven on their own merit but simply they are good at following the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 25:23 is part of Jesus parable on good stewardship. Jesus is connecting how you treat your fellowman especially other beleivers to how you treat him.

The standard of goodness Jesus laid out to enter heaven is measure to God's goodness and not man's goodness. Then Jesus did exactly what he told the rich man to do. That means Jesus is Good as God is Good. Thus Jesus is God.

Christ isn't denying divinity. He's addressing the man's question as an unintentional slight to who he is.

Hey Testify. I’ve heard many people argue that Jesus title “Son of Man” is him claiming to be “just some guy”. However lately i’ve been reading the apocrypha of the old testament, and its clear in these books that the “Son of Man” is the title of the christ/Messiah. At the community of qumran (Where the dead sea scrolls were found), the most common scroll after the pentateuch was the Book of Enoch - It was a very popular scroll at the time of Jesus. While it was rightly excluded from the canon, it’s useful to read because it sets the context for religious belief at the time of jesus (infact Jesus references it, but does not refer to it as scripture). Anyways all that is to say, Jews of the first century would have immediately recognized the term “Son of Man” as a claim to be the messiah. It puts some of the things Mark says in his gospel into perspective. Anyways, thanks for the videos and God Bless.

When you study the Bible in it's entirety more than once you finally realize that Jesus was there from the very beginning. In Joshua 5:13 we see Joshua approaching the city of Jericho when he is confronted by "a man with a sword". Joshua is commanded to remove his sandals as he is standing on Holy ground. Not only does this "Commander of the army of the Lord" allow Joshua to fall down and worship Him but He gives Joshua the same commandment as Moses (Exo 3:5) was given at the burning bush. Angels do not require worship. Only the fallen angels try to trick people into worshipping them instead of God. This was Jesus Christ showing Himself as He went before the Israeli army destroying the nephilim cities of Canaan.

Het Testify, had a question about something you mentioned. I think ice heard you mention you worship on Sunday, if not, sorry about the question, if you do and believe that the Sabbath is still important, why Sunday? I'm a Seventh Day-Adventist, and I've always thought that the best argument against worshiping on Saturday is the verses in romans talking about some will and some won't hold Sabbath, and other parts talking about the new covenant and doing away with the old. I've never understood the position ofnsome that Sunday is the Sabbath. Sorry again if I'm assuming something about you or misrepresting an argument. It had to do with the concept of the Resurrection happened on a Sunday, and that it was considered a festival day alongside the 7th day sabbath, which later Christians would stop keeping, because of the sabbath being associated with the Jews and all the Jewish wars that happened 1st and 2th centuries, but some Christian still hold both days as days of worship, such as the Eastern Orthodox.
Edit: Although the 7th sabbath should be remembered for both creation and Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross, based on both versions of the commandment in Exodus and Deuteronomy.
First thing to note is God sanctified the Sabbath at creation, not the law of Moses (Genesis 2:3).
Second, read how many times God talks about His Sabbath, and how many times He gets upset when it gets broken.
Third, even if it's not a "salvation issue", if we understand how much God cares about it, then it's really weird to consciously decide not to do it. How can we ask God for blessings when we don't do the things He cares about?

That's a perfect Trinitarian notion. But when you take ALL of Christ's other statements about being lesser than God, and going back to God after his resurrection, and the epistle 1 Timothy (2.5), you see that Jesus is not part of the godhead. But he is a servant OF God, a mediator BETWEEN God and man, and someone who came down from Heaven to redeem his brothers and sisters *_after_* having been the First to have gone up to Heaven (John 3.13) and thus earning God's admiration and respect.

Here's one interpretation: Heaven is timeless, at least in the sense of physical time (deterministic, continuity-based, dichotomous). Everyone in Heaven is thus timeless. The 6 days of creation were timeless; and time only began with God "resting." The opposite of resting is taking up the yoke of responsibility, which I think Christ was referring to when he said that the Truth will set you free. Example: A trauma victim does not receive freedom from their suffering until they take FULL responsibility for that suffering. And Christ took FULL responsibility for all the sins of the world, giving us our path to freedom.
In this context, there is no "past" in Heaven, so you would never say, "Before Abraham was, I was." There is only "I AM." This applies to all the angels, to God and to Christ.
And there are OTHER interpretations of the "I AM" statement. Don't be so attached to your beliefs. *_Stay humble._* God may yet have NEW things to teach you, for *_no one is omniscient._*

Jesus was asking a rhetorical question. The man did not know that Jesus was God Himself in the flesh.
The entire point of the gospel is to point out that Jesus is going to die as the saviour who carries our sins. One must be truly perfect in goodness to do such a substitution task. If the gospel points out that he successfully did his mission then obviously he must be good to fulfill the criteria above. I get what you say brother. But we are portraying different parts of the big picture. The salvation starts only by his sacrifice and apart from his sacrifice we cannot be seen righteous at the sight of God. Because if it was merely by practicing teaching it sounds by itself again like the old testament way of being justified by our own practices of being good. But as we are saved by his sacrifice we get grafted into this vine Jesus. Now the holy spirit empowers us to follow his teachings and grow in holiness. Not by our own might and power but by the empowering of the holy spirit which was made possible for mankind by the wonderful work of JESUS on the cross.
@josephjebarajs3550 His teachings are what bring us peace. The Lord's will was for him to preach a message that would get him killed. Our sins are washed away by Jesus' teachings, and he "gave his body" by teaching a message that went so against the beliefs of the time that it led to his execution.
Salvation starts with following his teachings, not from his death. If his death was the thing that saved us, then God would have had him killed as a baby. His death was not some magical ritual sacrifice that appeased God. That is paganistic. His death is not what saved us.

Your first passage suggests that Truth is visible to the spirit. My favorite verse in that chapter is #6: "...who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life." Where he talks about the "letter kills," he's referring to the INK of what is written; not the intent behind it. In other words, the literal words do not convey the powerful truth of spirit. And that *_Wisdom_* applies to the ENTIRE Bible, yet so few heed this wisdom.

And as Genesis 6.3 warns, God will not always abide with man for he *_ALSO_* is flesh. Look at that word, "also." What else is man, but spirit with the potential to come back to God. And Christ echoes this idea in John 3.6 where he says that that which is born of flesh is flesh, and that which is born of spirit is spirit.
Only with *_humility_* (a softened heart; a *_lack_* of certainty in self's knowledge) can you learn something new. Things like,
* The target of Noah's Flood -- a species mentioned in science which went *_extinct_* at the Flood's REAL date.
* The nature of creation and how to perform miracles.
* How to overcome trauma.
* The location of the Kabbalists' "Tree of Life" matrix embedded in two of the Bible's chapters.

1) When was the Trinity, as defined in modern times, finalized as a doctrine?

1 Timothy 2:5 makes it so simple. Then there are dozens of other scriptures that clearly and simply state Jesus is the son of God not God. I once heard an explanation of this passage by Sam shamoun and it made a lot of sense. If you read closely, in Mark 10:19, Jesus mentions 6 of the 10 Mosaic commandments. All of which are laws focused on people. But, he doesn’t mention 4 of the ones that are focused on God. Why? Well 2 verses later in Mark 10:21 Jesus tells the man he is missing one more thing, and that is, to sell everything and Follow HIM. Jesus is in essence telling the man, “yea, you are following 6 of the 10, but are missing 4 of which are focused on God. Which includes not having idols, following only God, keeping the sabbath and not taking the Lords name in vain. If you to follow me, you will be fulfilling all 10”. By saying “follow me” Jesus is essentially placing himself in the position of God and saying that he will be following God.

If you knew nothing else about Jesus but this exchange you couldn’t reasonably make that conclusion. Any human being , and many say the expression “ Hod is good” every day.
The better conclusion is that Jesus is highlighting that God’s own essential goodness can be imitated by anyone. Jesus himself advocating and practicing imitating the essential goodness of his Father.
Any other conclusion is spurious or deceptive.

Jesus had a flesh, like it is written in Romans 1. Paul says: "In me, that is my flesh, dwells nothing good". Jesus was tempted like us, but he never sinned. That is why he wants us to follow him, because he became a man like us.

@@JesusPerez-wd3tq Jesus became a man like us, and had a flesh like us, and He was tempted like we are tempted (Hebrews chapter 2). He had the Holy Spirit which helped him to say no to the temptations and be faithful. He learned obedience (Hebrews 5, 7-9). Now we can follow him, when we also get the Holy Spirit and are obedient to his commandments and words. We get tempted, but it is possible for us to endure in temptations, like James writes in chapter 1, 12.
God is not tempted with the evil (James 1, 13). Jesus was tempted, but he said no to the temptations and was faithful in all temptations, so he at the end of his life had never once sinned
The hoops you have to jump through to justify your beliefs is astounding. The simple answer is that Jesus, isn't God, he's God's son and they are separate. 1 Timothy 2:5 makes this very clear.

Jesus never needed to deny being God because he never claimed to be God and no one in the NT ever thought he was God
@@cc3775 the Pharisees put that claim on him for grounds to crucify him. He never even called himself the king of the Jews. That too is a title people put on him. He didn’t need to correct anyone because he knew their hearts. He didn’t waste time trying to convince anyone of anything. The father worked through Jesus because he is the son, sitting at the right hand of God.

He later says he and the disciples are one, just as he and the father are one. Are they also God. He also says the father is greater than him. And regarding no sins that is not true. He insulted people in the Bible, broke the sabbath and he didn’t stone the adulteress, as he said the one without sin should cast the first stone, but he didn’t stone meaning he had sin.
@@AhmedHassan-vo5fzHe didn't stone the adultress because Mosaic Law requires the adulterer to be stoned with her, and Jesus was making the point that the husband wasn't present either and it's up to him as to whether or not he would press charges. You can't just single out one suspect who's commited a crime that nobody is the victim of.
Furthermore, it's not a sin to insult. Additionally, if Jesus is repeatedly stated to be sinless, you must conclude the reason he can go against the Father's commandments is because he is God, and God cannot sin.

As I've said before on this passage, Jesus seems to be making a kind of Socratic question on this issue. It also might act as a rhetorical question as well. I find it interesting because he does this when it was a long established Biblical practice to describe believers in the Old Testament as "Tzedek, righteous" and Hellenic Greeks did the same thing with Agathon, "Good/ Good one".
One thing that's also interesting in this verse is that Jesus only names the commandments relating to other people (do not steal, do not kill, do not commit adultery etc.). He leaves out the first 3 to do with God, and so when he asks the man to sell everything and follow Him in a way it's the fulfillment of the first 3 commandments that He's talking about

No, he was trying to make the man he was talking to admit that he was god in the flesh. Many had doubted that he was the living God, making him say it after a miracle is a lot more meaningful to him than Jesus simply telling him. It’s not about humbleness or denying himself to be God, rather a proclamation of faith in the fact that he is God in the flesh

A question for Catholics: how do you justify the concept of Mary being sinless with Jesus saying that only God is good?

@@koderamerikaner5147 If Mary never sinned in her whole entire life, not even once, then she would be good. But Jesus says only God is good. So then Mary would be God.
We know that Mary didn't sin in the way people thought she had when she became pregnant without Joseph's involvement, since it was the work of God. However, it's anti-biblical to claim she never sinned at all.
