I literally just solved this cube yesterday lol, it make me go so insane that i made charts and drawings of all the pieces and what colors they turned into and where the lines went to make a possible solution
That's pretty much what I had to do. Make a list of the possible cube combinations and as you use a cube, make sure you don't leave yourself with an impossible combination later on. I didn't think to try to line up the lenticular lines because I wasn't sure that was how it started.
5 style is something you can use in extremely specific bld cases, they have a really short solution for 4 pieces at the same time. Good time-saver but hard to show up
dude the 5 style is absolutely insane!! There are almost 100 thousand different cases, and you didn't just find a case you recognize, you found the most famous and simplest 5-style case where you permute all 5 pieces with only 4 moves! While filming! and not even while doing 3bld! The chances you see that case again in the next years are close to 0. Absolutely crazy
what I noticed is you solved the "side way look" for the colors on each side. But there seem to be a "looking straight at it" solve too. Which tells me the second solution might not have matching lines either, as straight looking should always show the same color, no matter the line orientation.
But they lined up properly out of the box. Plus, if they don't match the line orientation, some will change color when you tilt the cube while others won't.
@@OtakuUnitedStudio If I understand correctly, he's saying there are _two_ solutions: one solution where all lines match in line orientation and each face shows just one color when looking at it tilted; and another solution where the lines don't necessarily match in line orientation but each face shows one color when looking straight at it. The first solution would be the state in which the cube was in when it was still new in the box.
I learned a couple tricks through a bunch of solves that made it easier. First, with white/yellow on the bottom, all the "lines" on every single real green/orange/blue/red piece (when in the correct orientation) are vertical, so if you put a piece in what seems like the correct spot you can check if the lines are vertical or horizontal to get some additional info on if it's correct. Second, in the solved state, every color changing piece on a given side should change color at the same time when the cube is rotated, as you mentioned once or twice. There is barely any leniency to this, if one piece changes even slightly after the others around it I wouldn't trust it. Once you have a block of 2-3 correct pieces, incorrect ones will stand out really easily by changing colors at a different time than the correct ones. I'm not sure if this next one applies to all impossible cubes (though it probably does) but it's the most helpful tip I can give. When I look at a side head on (not at an angle, flat, perpendicular to your eyes if that makes sense), then every piece will show its solved color, EXCEPT for pieces that are on the green side which always have to be askew to show green. To clarify, this means green pieces have a scrambled "flat" state and a solved "askew" state, whereas every other side has the reverse. There's still a little grey area with pieces that look like they could be both red and orange etc. but for the most part, this means that if a sticker doesn't turn green at an angle then it is safe to assume that its "flat" color is the correct one. If it does turn green when you rotate it askew, then you can't trust that sticker because it could either have the correct flat color or it could be green. If this happens you should check the lines orientation or delay in color change to get more information on whether it actually is green or not. Hope these are helpful to someone!
Good tips! One tip I'll add: start with the white/red/green corner since it does not change colors. When you solve it you'll know the direction of the lines for 3 sides!
@@JPerm Oh yeah, any of the non-changing pieces give you the direction of the lines, which is particularly helpful for the white and yellow sides, since all the others are by default vertical (when white or yellow is on the top/bottom). Additionally they can be really useful for recognizing if the color change timing between two pieces are off, since they're easier to put in the correct place. Also I forgot to mention something about the margin of error for the timing; every color on a solved side won't change at the exact same time as you rotate the cube. It'll change in a wave going across the face, but it's a perfectly smooth wave so if it doesn't look like a smooth transition when you rotate it, chances are something isn't in the right place.

Ok so I bought this cube and I underestimated it so I scrambled it up but how I got it back was looking at the solved state and seeing what the correct piece is, so like I would find what piece could either be white or green and green and yellow and then I would find where it goes. I don't really know if that makes sense but I hope it helps!
So you need to take into account the angle you will view the pieces in the solved position, since they will move during the solve. But working this out from the scramble is hard
I managed to make the scramble shown here 19:52 on a regular cube using the beginners method in your tutorial. I got a bit stuck on the yellow cross, but I somehow got it by doing the beginner algs randomly.

I didnt realize i want one until i saw this video. I always thought it was just a gimmick, but it was actually a deduction puzzle layered ontop of a rubik's cube
Imagine if instead of 6 colors on 6 sides, you have 3 colors doubled across 6 sides, that fluoresce as 3 different colors when under UV light. So you not only have to solve for the 6 sides, but you have to deal with the the alternate colors as well (even if you solve it normally, under UV light it would be unsolved).
Yeaaaaa… I’ll stick to learning the 2-Look OLL and PLL😂 btw, I love your tutorials man! You make I easy to understand, point out all the possible scenarios, and show us a solution to it💯
When I saw this in a store just over a year ago, I told my wife what I wanted for Christmas. It was so satisfying when I solved it. They say there's multiple solves but I only ever found one
I was able to solve this cube once before I lst it, and then the second one I got the whole red sides stickers were messed up, basically makng the whole red cross have a different colored line going through the middle of the center pieces. I'm honestly thankful my cube has such a defect because it makes it way more easy on the mind to simply scramble it knowing it has an accidental backup method kinda lol
This is how I see my cube. I did the C and F of the CFOP but my brain just can't make anymore moves while keeping tabs on how to place the original solved peices back. I can get back to this point many times because i have already scrambled and got back to the CF many times but after that my brain melts. Right now my cube has the 1st layer matched with the centers with white being solved 100% to the layer. But again any further and my brain melts into a headache. I got to this point all on my own intuitively before hitting RUclips and learning im doing what is called the CFOP. Im trying to learn the algos but I just can't retain the information...
Omg your thought process is nearly identical as mine when i was gifted this cube. That’s hilarious. I concluded that is matter of opinion if the cube is solved or not lol

Pre-watch: I have this cube, one of my kids scrambled it... I started working on a solution based on color grouping possibilities, line orientation, and such... and I gave up after 2 weeks.
Hey J Perm I had a cool video idea a couple days ago, what if you solved a cube blindfolded using Old Pochmann method but instead of using T perm to swap the edges and Y perm to swap the corners you used J Perm to swap the corners and edges? (not at the same time, just using the same alg for 2 different purposes)
I solved it once and I probably won’t do it again. The orange and blue edge that twists to the blue and orange, making it impossible to solve took me way to long to figure it out Edit: I did it again and got a PB down from 4 days to about 35 minutes

If you solve the Rubik's Impossible with all the ridges parallel, you can use this scramble to go to the other solution, in this solution the ridges are not parallel, it's really cool. If you want to go back to the solution with the parallel ridges, you can just reverse the scramble. Green front white top! 18:23 ((: That 5-style algorithm is the from Roux method... This algorithm is used in a step where you need to orient six edges that remained after solving 1x2x3 blocks on the right and left side. Of course Roux has more ways of solving last six edges but in general first thing is edge orientation. M U' (or U) M (at the end J perm added a U move just to align corners!) This is basic algorithm That is used to orient tree edges on top (left, right and front one) and two bottom edges (other cases are solved with help of this algorithm. That's why it is easily recognisable for (previous) Roux solvers. I hope it was easy to understand. And that J Perm confirms that one day...
Oh, so there are a few squares that no change the color. That's encouraging. I suposed the lines will help but still scares me a bit. But I think I will give a try.
It's absolutely insane that you did this. I tried for 4 days straight when I bought it months ago and gave up. I couldn't figure it out to save my life, and this from a person that purchased and solved a 5x5x5 for the first time all in the span of an hour with no help. Also, I hate the ghost cube, but I've solved it once. Never again
From the first seconds of the video it's apparent that the cube was solved in a way where you have to look straight at the pieces (90°) and your solve was the different solution where you have to tilt it for each side. That deduction would have helped solving: do you get color X from a front view or from an angle? Whichever solve you decide to go for it has to be the same for all pieces (at least per colour if my initial assumption is wrong)
Can this cube be considered equivalent to a (rearranged) 5-by-5-by-5 Rubik's cube in which we always twist two adjacent outer layers at the same time and where we either solve the outer rings to match the color of each center piece or the inner rings to match the color of each center piece?
RUclips knows what to put in my reccomended. A regular rubik's cube gives me a headache, this just induced a migraine. Anyhow loved the video, will probably watch more!
This puzzle is a fun one! Unfortunately the lenticular lenses that change the color make my least favorite noise in the existence when scratched, and I strongly dislike the texture. So I war gloves lol. The cool thing about the Rubik's Impossible is that there are 2 combinations! I found the second by accident!
I need this! There are so many types of cubes I want and want to make, thankfully other people have some of my same ideas and have already made their own versions, I love it! The material is lenticular, btw.

What the teacher taught in class: 3x3
What the teacher put on the exam: RUBIK'S IMPOSSIBLE
This is the only cube that will make you feel like a beginner again.
And I planned on getting one, too.
Wow J Perm, I didn't even know that you be able to solve that nightmate cube. Also, your so close to 1 mil subs! Congrats and keep up the great work dude!👍👍👍

I didnt realize i want one until i saw this video.
I always thought it was just a gimmick, but it was actually a deduction puzzle layered ontop of a rubik's cube
Rubik’s: How can we make our cube better
“Weird Stickers”
“Impossible to solve”
“Less noise”

Next JPerm video: Solving the Puppet Cube with Rubik's Impossible colors.
Imagine if instead of 6 colors on 6 sides, you have 3 colors doubled across 6 sides, that fluoresce as 3 different colors when under UV light. So you not only have to solve for the 6 sides, but you have to deal with the the alternate colors as well (even if you solve it normally, under UV light it would be unsolved).
oh my god that is genius
@@dreamfyre11 I got the idea from the game The Witness! It has puzzles that have to be solved based on the color that they fluoresce under UV light.
His sense of humor makes me feel better everytime i swear

Yay
Why
Yeaaaaa… I’ll stick to learning the 2-Look OLL and PLL😂 btw, I love your tutorials man! You make I easy to understand, point out all the possible scenarios, and show us a solution to it💯
They should make a Rubik's Impossible 4x4. I'd like to see him try that.
Oh yes!! Please! Having just solved the 3x3, I would like to try the 4x4 too!
and he should try solving like a 2x2
I'd be happy with just a 2x2 with no centres, but I guess 4x4 is cursed in the same way.
Nah a 21x21 💀
This Cube is a Real Tough Challenge
Congratulations on solving it man
u have a lot patience and r talented
i am exited to solve it myself someday
Pieces right
Gotta say that color change thingy is a pretty neat effect.
This looks like such a great gift for one of my friends who taught me how to solve a regular cube
Omg your thought process is nearly identical as mine when i was gifted this cube. That’s hilarious. I concluded that is matter of opinion if the cube is solved or not lol
That was my thought. I could just do 20 moves as fast as I can. and no once could tell me it's unsolved lol
Bring the pain! I forget how long ago I found this in Walmart, but it was an obvious impulse buy. I have yet to solve either position, though it's amazingly fun to give to my other cubing friends!
Oh, my gosh: this cube was deceptively ridiculous to solve! I'm glad I wasn't the only one that had a hard time with this, lol.
Also, did you purposely pick the music as a tribute to the dark world in Zelda "A Link to the Past"? It's pretty awesome that you play that song on your videos!
i was looking through the comments for someone to point out the dark world theme. it makes me really happy to see someone acknowledge it
I noticed that too! I love A link to the past, although I think Oot and Twilight princess are better for me just because they are what I grew up with.
The impossibility is the friends we made along the way.
… Shortcat? What the heck 😂 I love this
Pre-watch: I have this cube, one of my kids scrambled it... I started working on a solution based on color grouping possibilities, line orientation, and such... and I gave up after 2 weeks.

do your hands ever hurt from cubing?
and what do you do if they do hurt?
I take a break and walk around. It's important to keep your cube lubed and fast to avoid hand pain!
You know the world is about to end when jperm takes 3.30 minutes to do the 1st layer

Apsi
taking advantage of the direction of the lines… i never thought of that youre a genius
Dude I am a cuber but you still scaring me with all that
J Perm is a speedcuber 😎 guys, he turned a rubiks brand with a D flick 🤯🤯
ruclips.net/video/i6lJZeDFn9E/видео.html
You know it's impossible when even he is struggling....
"But you didn't solve it!"
Me: "Nah, you're just looking at it from the wrong angle."
Bravo. It’s that persistence that makes for a good YT video!. Was laughing the entire time
I solved it once and I probably won’t do it again. The orange and blue edge that twists to the blue and orange, making it impossible to solve took me way to long to figure it out
Edit: I did it again and got a PB down from 4 days to about 35 minutes
ruclips.net/video/i6lJZeDFn9E/видео.html
Where did you get your hands on one of those? That looks pretty fun to solve. And I would love to terrorize my friends with it
Walmart
Every time you post a video I go through all 5 stages of joy.

Finnally non cubers can't say: ill just peel the stickers off
It is mesmerizing to watch someone who knows how these magical boxes work move bits around while ALSO keeping bits they don't want moved not moved by moving them then moving them back while moving the bits they wanted moved to where they will then never be moved again expect for when they are moved then moved back.
Rubik's impossible should be added to the official WCA events.
Here’s a challenge: solve the Rubik’s cube but for every turn, do 3 turns to the opposite way instead. And time yourself :)
This comment received over 1,000 likes on a previous video, so the people want to see it!
Explain further plz my mind does want to work today
@@el_sancho_2094 instead of a U or R turn, do U3' or R3'
@@el_sancho_2094 so you know how when you turn a layer 4 times it is the same as before?
so moving it 1 time (for example: R) is the same as 3 times the same layer in the other direction (R = R' R' R')
Well i cant cuz I can’t do algs 😂
would u2 become u6
I was gifted this after watching this video, and I had a massive panic attack after scrambling, so I gave up, but I solved it a day later!
18:21 R E R' E' is a 5 cycle but jperm rotated it
That really is brain breaking.
Also... that's both impressive and shows how puzzle construction can affect solving.
SCRAMBLE TO GO TO THE OTHER SOLUTION BELOW (read more)
Since every sticker has 2 colors, there are 2 solutions for this puzzle.
If you solve the Rubik's Impossible with all the ridges parallel, you can use this scramble to go to the other solution, in this solution the ridges are not parallel, it's really cool. If you want to go back to the solution with the parallel ridges, you can just reverse the scramble.
Green front white top!
Scramble to go from parallel ridges solution to the other:
F' D' R' U L2 B2 F L B R' U' R' U' F2 U2 B2 R2 D L2 D2
Scramble to go from the other solution to the parallel rigdes solution:
D2 L2 D' R2 B2 U2 F2 U R U R B' L' F' B2 L2 U' R D F (you can do this scramble on a normal 3x3 to help you solve the Rubik's Impossible, because this how a solved rubik's impossible looks like when you tilt it in the wrong way!)
*flies away

God the impossible megaminx would be scary af.
18:23 ((: That 5-style algorithm is the from Roux method...
This algorithm is used in a step where you need to orient six edges that remained after solving 1x2x3 blocks on the right and left side.
Of course Roux has more ways of solving last six edges but in general first thing is edge orientation.
M U' (or U) M (at the end J perm added a U move just to align corners!)
This is basic algorithm That is used to orient tree edges on top (left, right and front one) and two bottom edges (other cases are solved with help of this algorithm. That's why it is easily recognisable for (previous) Roux solvers.
I hope it was easy to understand. And that J Perm confirms that one day...
Now i believe rubiks cube teaches problem solving skills
It's called impossible and it's no joke
If you think about it… it’s impossible to solve, because it can always change color!
Never again
1st
J: Alright, let's scramble it
Me: Wait, IT WAS SOLVED!?
From the first seconds of the video it's apparent that the cube was solved in a way where you have to look straight at the pieces (90°) and your solve was the different solution where you have to tilt it for each side. That deduction would have helped solving: do you get color X from a front view or from an angle? Whichever solve you decide to go for it has to be the same for all pieces (at least per colour if my initial assumption is wrong)
"It hurts to look at, so solve it without even looking at it"
Genius
I got lenticular stickers to add to a cube of mine a few years back, and it's such a trip to solve these. :)
Imagine a 22x22 made like this with parity and all that stuff 😱
Can this cube be considered equivalent to a (rearranged) 5-by-5-by-5 Rubik's cube in which we always twist two adjacent outer layers at the same time and where we either solve the outer rings to match the color of each center piece or the inner rings to match the color of each center piece?
5 style is a proposed algset that includes an algorithm for every two letter pairs. In blindfolded, five style solves 4 pieces at a time
This man is so good at cubing he‘s able to tell colors when they’re not the same color
RUclips knows what to put in my reccomended. A regular rubik's cube gives me a headache, this just induced a migraine. Anyhow loved the video, will probably watch more!
I'm getting addicted to your videos, kinda love you now lol
This puzzle is a fun one! Unfortunately the lenticular lenses that change the color make my least favorite noise in the existence when scratched, and I strongly dislike the texture. So I war gloves lol. The cool thing about the Rubik's Impossible is that there are 2 combinations! I found the second by accident!
Okay... this isn't just madness... THIS! IS! CUBING!
The Blindfolded solve is impresive.
Imagine being colourblind, and being handed a cube like this.
“I used to think that the original Rubix cube was impossible but now it is just impossibly loud” Cubing quote of the decade 😂
I need this! There are so many types of cubes I want and want to make, thankfully other people have some of my same ideas and have already made their own versions, I love it!
The material is lenticular, btw.
