Dodge Viper. When buying a supercar, potential owners tend to look for certain traits including top-tier performance, flashy looks and exclusivity. One car that has embodied those attributes since its introduction in the early nineties is the Dodge Viper.
Welcome to our comprehensive Kelley Blue Book review of the Dodge Viper.
In many ways the Dodge Viper represents an old-school formula for a super car. It features a powerful engine, race-car like suspension, seductive bodywork and little else. The Viper may lack the comfort and features many high-end buyers demand but those who tolerate its unrefined nature are rewarded with one of the most exciting driving experiences available. @jeebzPB yes dodge viper is a supercar because it is :
8.4 l v10 600 hp 560 flb
acceleration 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds
top speed 202 mph =325 km/h
I own a 94 and love the car. There isn't nothing like it. So RAW. It teaches you to respect it for to be forgiving. And I love giving people a ride.
im with you all the way buddy i been saying that since i was eleven and now im 20 never lose love for the viper
Standard features include air conditioning, tilt leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather/faux-suede upholstery, and 6-disc CD changer.
The only option is a navigation system.
The Corvette ZR1 is more upscale. For $85,000, you'd think the Viper would have more standard features.
wow i cant believe a comment i made 4 years ago is upvoted so much. I still want the viper , but now i want the SRT Viper. I`ll get one of these babies one day.
i hope you got it :’) i’m a 14 year old looking to get one of these bad boys in 2-2.5 years, this was one of my dream cars as a kid
@MarshallTK I was not talking about straight line performance, I am talking about all around.
@FlightX101 ...I had a GTS viper, insurance was only $750/year full coverage $500/deductible. Clean record though and over 25 (I'm 28).
@chrcowan
That's very gracious of you.
Take care of your Viper...
The school im in right now is one of the top 10 schools in the country for game art and it has good relations with some big companies. Im pretty happy here and i feel very comfortable doing this. I would love to own one of these cars , and ill definitely bring it to the track .
the viper is amazing. i cant explain it. no matter how much better people say a corvette is. trust me: you will be much happier with this dodge. wow! its great
@jeebzPB I know it's 5 months old but technically the Viper is an American supercar. The term "Modern Muscle" is simply a stand alone name based on looks, when clearly it's not powered by one of Dodge's signature Hemi V8 engines. The engine itself was also developed with engineers from McClaren, so in terms of performance and status, despite it's cheap ass interior, it is a supercar. The ACR and ACR-X are also identified as "Exotics."
Additional options including send the car to UR or ART racing for a completely blu printed tubo system and engine build pushing the cars HP levels to 1200+. And with AEM or MOTEC tuning the car drives ike stock until you put your foot into it... :)
UR too there 2008 Twin Turbo Viper to the TX mile event and reached over 200mph at the 1/2 mile mark.
i hate way he says "daaaaaaaaadge" viper lol
be very careful and do a ton of research before choosing your career, watch out for bogus schools offering game design courses. With that having been said, choose a career that makes you happy and keep your viper ownership dream alive you WILL own one one day if you work hard and make good decisions. good luck, i'll see you at the racetrack in a few years :-)
actually those amenities i listed are standard on the zr1 but whatever
the viper is less expensive (by about $20,000, give or take $2,000) but the corvette zr1 is more luxurious.. and you're right.. the zr1 is a little more reliable. so which is the better car? if you had $120,000 and you had to buy one of those two cars, which would you pick?
i'd take a viper and then spend $35,000 on luxury options - keyless start, massaging seats, rearview camera, night vision, navigation system, everything
@photonarbiter lol 17 and getting my license now. 1 step closer!!
@photonarbiter you sound just like me, i plan on getting one before im 19, i started saving from jobs and stuff, if you can save up at least 30 gran by the time you get into college or whatever then you can get one
600 Horsepower 2008 Dodge Viper Let’s Run
Viper main plus is the exterior looks. The engine, weight, shape of body, is only good for straight line. Put on several turns while the viper is moving fast will either slow it down drastically or oversteer off-road.
essentially what you're saying is that the corvette zr1 can actually be considered useful, while the viper is just flat out impressive
am i correct?
@monky1456 Lol the monthly insurance payment must be a nightmare
amazing.
yea you have a good point
The lack of technology is one of the things that MAKE it fun. The Viper is intentionally built to be low-tech, it's a pure car with no driver aids to cover your mistakes.
@1mckayj ....only in ride comfort lol. Although the Zr1 would take it...I had a viper but have a vette now lol
is that 4th gear shift thing a real pain in the ass?
im 16 now and since i was 4 i wanted the viper. i want to be a game designer and im gunna save all the money i dont need to spend and one day... ill get one :D i love it
actually the Zr1 is allot more useful, as u said before the Zr1 has all these options, the options r there for making the car more friendly on commutes, the viper has nothing to make it more comfortable besides a radio and decent seats. of course owning these cars ur gonna need another for realistic every day use but a Zr1 doesnt have an issue being used thru towns everyday but if u do that with a viper u could come across a few problems.
what im saying is that the zr1 is the everyday sports car, something u could actually use for going to work picking up some milk and small trips to the store, the viper is not that useful. i admit the viper is not for everyday use i dont think u could use it too much, but that's its charm. its something u use on special occasions. like that one leather jacket u only bring it out for a party or to give that extra feel good thing, the zr1 looses in this aspect while the viper looses on the other
you do that !! fulfill your dream !!
well actual funny thing about the engine
ZR1 is recorded to have 549hp at the wheels
while 08 SRT10 has been recorded at 546hp at the wheels.
exterior is all in taste of who likes what, and every professional car review company have said both viper and vett have cheap flimsy interior. im just going by facts and the viper as i say above is not about options its about raw power something a vett just doesnt have. something old school about it, thats its appeal. but both cars r good for its purpose
@photonarbiter you can actually get a used one pretty cheap now
flamboyant looks wtf it's not a prius
im a viper person my self, something about 600hp and a v10 makes my leg shake and makes me think im gonna be rapped around a tree, but thats just me lol
how reliable is it
hey the corvette zr1 has better engineering but don't assume that the zr1 has significantly better fuel economy.. i bet it's pretty close
the viper has better handling but the zr1 has more standard features... done
well you might be forgetting the fact that the zr1 isn't much more useful than the viper
if you have to cars at home, a corvette zr1 and an audi q7, you'd probably take the audi q7 shopping just because it's very roomy and quite luxurious
ya, from 1992-1995 it had 400hp, 1996-2002 it has 450. 2003-2007 it had 500 or 510 horsepower. 2008 and plus it has 600!
@YourPowerStation u mean the latest? .... or the FINAL....
Randon question, but is a Dodge Viper's hood longer than the 05+ Mustang's, and by how much? I'm thinking it is...I know its wider though.
Thanks
me too. it's gonna be $300,000, but it'll sure as hell be worth it
@soccerpeve02 Huh....I stand corrected lol xD Its good to know that people out there take responsibility with their driving :)
@photonarbiter same here. Viper is fucking awesome
@FlightX101 Mine was a late 90's GTS, I suppose it was cheap because it's 12+ years old. I was sure surprised (very happily) when they told me lol. I switched to a C6 vette for a better ride and creature comforts :) (way better AC lol)
The srt/10 is not meant to go against the ZR-1... It is meant to go against the Z06. The ACR is meant to go against the ZR-1. As far as "pathetic" You clearly has not seen the ACR... It now holds the record for the fastest lap for stock cars on the nuburing!
It beats the ZR-1... by very little however. But none the less it still beats it.
Did they just say the Viper is a super car?
@1mckayj Tell that to the 7:12 on nurburgring.
20 years of age or under do not need this car its to powerful and fast just wait a little longer and get one im 14 and i was lucky to sit in one
:D :D @ 0:20 "Hello and welcome to our comprehensive KBB review of the Duh-odge Vypr. :D :D Sounds so silly, trying to sound convincing :D :D
ya but you have to get 2008+. the previous viper has engine heating problems, less performance, slightly worse interior, and worse gas milage
very true
the only reasons for buying a viper are cause it's fast and cause it's powerful
the corvette zr1 is a good car not only because it's very fast and poewrful, but also because it's comfortable and it has standard features (more than the viper): air conditioning w/dual-zone climate controls, interior air filter, leather upholstery, 8-way power front seats, tilt/telescopic leather-wrapped steering wheel w/radio controls, 6-disc CD changer, and memory system.
he said HIV headlights O_O
explain your obscure reasoning lol
well u dont understand the essence of a viper. now in all actuality the viper cant be compared to a Vett, the vett is about being sensibly comfortable and classy while being fast. the viper is the modern Shelby Cobra. so the viper is all about balls out power. nothing more. the viper doesn't apologize about it either and thats its appeal. no G sensor no computer aids or fancy electronics . the point of a viper is just about being bad ass, there is no car more bad ass than a viper
this world is all about being tame calm never letting u true self out, half to be nice to the boss, half to be nice to the family, and our cars show that too. all these econo boxes most of our cars today have too much restraint with governors and what not. But the viper doesn't have any of this, no driver aids, or sacrificing style for comfort. the viper is a big middle finger to all the car companies and green people out there, it doesn't care if u don't like it, the basic viper never changes
is he own a showroom or something
well to give the viper that stuff would be selling out its like put the engine in the middle of the vet its not a true vet then same thing with the viper its appeal is its lack of funny as it sounds its about being hard core and raw while the vet is about fast and usable the viper is the modern shelby king of testosterone the viper lets u know ur still that bad ass kid yes vet is usable and what not but it could never make u feel bad ass and thats what the viper is about badassness to the max
ur missing the big picture. the Viper is raw. its raw steak with raw bacon and eggs next to it. its over the top style with over the top engine and no safety besides a belt and a ballon. the zr1 is not as raw. the zr1 is not really over the top it has a nice engine but its not ridiculous and the viper is just too crazy for its own good, like a shelby cobra
A 16 Year old kid dirves of one these to school, crashed it the first week and had a 12,000 repair and not to mention the insuerence for a 16 year old with a red Dodge Viper... F That.
haha im 17 and i have a 2008 SRT10 Viper ... i just love to rev the engine in front of all the ladies
Audi Rules
corvette>viper
This guys voice annoys me.
