I think the final point is Dylan is actually happy… through the series he helps his friends out and what not but now he experiences joy that is not measurable

Well, Dylan was there. Brandon and Brenda weren't in the scene. It would have been nice if they were there, even if it was briefly. But in reality, friendships and relationships end all of the time. It is a part of life. I like it when shows make it a bit realistic. We don't always have the outcomes that we desire or hope for.
