How Long Does a Vape Coil Last? How to Avoid Burnt Coils.
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 5 окт 2024
- The question, “how long does a vape coil last?” turns into, “ how do you make it last that long?” There are two types of coils that we will talk about here, pre-made coils and rebuildable coils.
The goal is to have a coil lasts as long as it ought to. Two weeks is a good average before they start to taste burnt, but do not be discouraged if your vape coil doesn’t last that long. The tips above are a great way to meet the goal of 2 full weeks of use, which hopefully saves you some of your hard-earned monies!

I appreciate this video because no one talks about this. It is so important not only for a good vaping experience, but for your health. You know cleaning your RTA especially during cold and flu season making sure everything is nice and fresh and you’re not gonna make yourself sick. My head is off to you kudos!!
I noticed that if you always keep your tank full, the pre built ones last a lot longer. I never let mine go below half full and they always last a few weeks or longer. I am a chain vaper that smoked two packs a day before I started vaping, so I vape A LOT. Also, for prebuilt, the ones that are a "mesh coil" last longer as well.
I do exactly the same. Its a simple "farmer" logic to be honest. If the cotton is wet it will take a lot longer to burn out...
I found that running hot water through the pre-made coil then switching to cold works great . I use regular hot water then switch to cold reverse osmosis water. Shake the excess water out. Then dry the coil out real good with a hair dryer. Putting coil under a fan on high works well but takes longer. WORD OF ADVICE TO NEWBEES. NEVER USE SOAP OR ANYTHING ELSE TO CLEAN YOUR COIL! HEATED VINEGAR WORKS WELL BUT FLUSH WELL WITH WATER. THE COTTON AND HEATING ELEMENT (COIL) MUST BE AS CLEAN AS YOU CAN GET IT. YOU WILL TASTE ANYTHING IF IT REMAINS IN THE COTTON OR ON COIL.
Totally agree with you. I wash out my MTL tank about once a week and also dry burn the coils to remove the crap that collects on it. I think I've had my coil in my tank for about 6-months now and it's still going strong, although I might just replace it next time I perform a clean...
SWEET! No B.S., quick, concise, and to the point! Bro., you deserve a huge thanks from me.
I'm a chain vapor, but to counter the chain vaping I rotate 2 to 3 different set-ups. That way ,after I hit one of my tanks 3 to 4 times, I switch up to a new set up! I've found that this is the only way to get any reasonable life out of my coils!!!
not a great idea, hope you haven’t been doing it for three years now
All day everyday
I’ve been doing that lately I have a bigger mod and a smaller mod but my big one the coils have only been lasting me like 3 days for some reason
I pretty much chain vape and I've been vaping for over 10 years. I've found 60% VG 40% PG down to 30% VG 70% PG works best on most coils, I personally prefer around 50/50 VG/PG, I'm after flavour, smoothness and certainly not clouds.
I don't see the point in fogging up a room and hated it when the smoke alarms would go off...yes! it was a novelty for a while I'll admit.
Thick VG wrecks coils quicker from my experience or can give dry hit's quicker, plus some e-liquids, even at High PG ratio's are terrible, I've had coils last one day that would normally last on average at least two weeks with Good juice...the type of e-liquid is the culprit.
With the right juice I can chain vape for three weeks or more before needing to change cotton but two weeks is better, dry burn once a month.
Wrong juice...replace cotton every day and dry burn the coil every two/three days.
I use all sorts of e-liquids in drippers and squonk...easy and quick re-wicking.
rebuildable
I have just recently started using two or three different mod's per day for a change...a break from certain juices can be nice of course, plus some of my mod's are heavy and bulky, I'm preferring smaller and lighter ones recently Casey.
If your device can't withstand chain vaping (make sure check and research the product) then ditch it if you're a smoker trying to quit. I went through 3 different vapes trying to find one that didn't fail the coil after LIGHT vaping, when I first started I wanted to nurse on it and all the devices that failed made me go right back to smoking a pack rather than deal with this scam of dealing with lightweight baby tier mods with horrible coils and poor QC.
Threw my Aegis hero into the trash because it couldn't handle me vaping it once every 5 minutes and killed every coil despite using proper PG/VG combos, did things like keep the tank full, staying within voltage range of the coils, tried all the ranges of coils just to get ONE to last more than a day. FINALLY landed on an innokin that wasn't complete garbage and could handle me hitting it every second. Took forever to find something that wasn't L tier.
Basically it all comes down to the product and there's a lot of garbage on the market not fit for even the average person vaping.
I'd recommending changing them pretty regularly. You don't want that burnt stuff going into your lunges. I change mine every 2 weeks and give the tank a good rinse with warm water.
great for rich mofos. so not for everybody.
no name ikr
@@jayb293 imagine thinking $5 every 2 weeks makes you rich.....
@@Gl-my8fw imagine being this dumb...
@@jayb293 you are the only one acting stupidly..... a pack of 5 coils for almost any tank is around $20-$30. I build because it is much better but only a moron thinks a coil every to weeks is a lot of money.
I use RDA's exclusively and change my wick and coils about every three or four days...lol. I just like that super-fresh vape and it's pennies compared to stock coils for fixed tanks.
Papa Smurf how’s it going
Do a build and wick video!!
I change my coil once I start to taste a "burnt" taste. It might not be healthy but so is smoking of any kind, vape included. I'm sure it's no more harmful than smoking a black n mild or newport. Someone told me every 2 weeks but at that point I'd be spending the same amount of money in vaping as I would cigs.
Thankyou. Good info. As a side note I'm rocking a Drag with a Zeus RTA. Imagine my surprise to find the same setup used in this vid.
Frederick Parkes I'm rocking the drag with a kylin v2 rta lol
@@TruthTeller20242 I had the Kylin previously, but it would leak randomly so I ditched it.
Using a lower wattage than recommended on the coil can help, chain-smoking a mod also burn it quicker. Not priming or letting it soak can cause it, but some vapes cannot be primed like the Smok Novo (the pod and coil are integrated) so it should just need a soak if that is the case.
A lower wattage can also burn the juice instead of vaporizing it so you end up with a charred coil even faster.
On my prebuilt tanks the only liquid other than a juice that ever touches them it’s Grain alcohol my personal favorite is my homemade 190 proof kumquat white lightning but Everclear works just fine so come overnight and get more wash that’ll bring them right back
I dry burn and rewick RTAs/RDAs once a day (usually when I get home from work). I recoil them once a month maybe month and a half. I’d use them longer but sometimes I get bored and it gives me something to do.
NPC # 4791527A Daily????? I can keep wicks in my RTA for a week and they will still be white with very low build up on coils. You must be bored
@@strangexgiant5950 he probably rewicks them because its fun , its the same as building a pc and cleaning it ect , i do the same , i dont rewick daily but i do it weekly or untill the taste is bad , but some times i like to make new coils experiment test out diffrent stuff u know, its a hobby and a life saver.
Maybe I'm just bored then, I rewick it almost everyday, and changes coil like every 3-4 days. Longest is a week. I chain vape and long dragging until I can feel that I'm getting pretty high. The wick is still clean, but the coil is gunky af.
I heard this music in "getting over it". Cool man
rip trippers covers how to revive your coil by soaking your premade coil in grain alcohol. This will revive your coil, however it won't be 100%, but at least it's a good way to save some bucks.
RIP trippers is a crook
I´ve been using my first vape coil for 2 months and 1 week I have no idea if I should replace it cause I still like the taste and the cotton looks white on the outside
Dont replace it until it tastes burnt. Seems you are using clear unsweetened non heavy vg juice. I've had coils last a month of heavy vaping.
check the inside of the coil, its propably burnt to fuck.
Mine lost its flavour in a week. Now I change coils just because there is no taste to it at all. Usually been 1k puffs. Now down to 500 ish....
@@saaa9964 wdym 500 Puffs then u need to change it or 500 puffs a day?
@@WPRO78 it depends. 500 in general. Longest coil I had from aeglos 01 is 1300 pufs. Zeus coils last longer, but not all the time. Currently I have 2009 puffs and taste is still there(absolute record). It really depends on how much you using. If you keep using same juice all the time you will definitely know when to change a coil (unless it burns). I had coils lasting less than 500pufs and coils lasting up to 1500 pufs in same device, same juice, same wattage. It seems they got variable quality.
information is very useful But
1:20 after soaking in the vinegar, How to clean and reinstall ?
after soaking it you should run it under the tap or let it soak in hot water. Then you should blow into the top of the coil until all the water is released
I've not changed my coils in my dead rabbit on a dotmod squonk over 2 years!!! I clean them often! I vape heavy too! I burn over 500 mils in 2 weeks
Can you please elaborate on how often you clean your coils?
Ok so funny thing is I'm going on a year with my 32 gage kanthal Clapton build made by Medusa best coils I've used so far but I'm gonna get new ones very soon😂. And im using a royal hunter mini rda in case anyone was wondering
I REALLY want to understand that & get into the rebuildable coil game. I love my Tobecco Supertank (not mini-the 25mm w/full 5mg full capacity). Sometimes a coil can last me 2-3 weeks...other times they burn up faster. I’m a low wattage vaper- I use .5 coils & vape between 36-42 watts on average. I’m not a cloud chaser or a chain vaper. My thing is flavor & the right nic amount. So, is there a place that anyone can suggest where I can learn about using the rebuildable coil (wick & cotton setup). It looks intimidating, but so did changing my first disposable coil 3yrs ago when I began sub ohm vaping. Any advice or links would be greatly appreciated.
is vaping really healthier than smoking? Google says yes but what to people think?
Stainless steel coils I'm rebuilds can go for more than 8 months if you take proper care of if .
Well, back in the last days of TFV-12 Cloud Beast King, I've made almost a year without changing coils (premaded T-12 if I good remember) but that trick need very good vape Juice and a lot of it to not burn or dry too much the Cotton.
Can you tell me what is the build up of the liquid you use?
I am not a chain vaper and not so high in watts and some times i dont vape for a month or a week so thank you my vape last long for almost 5 to 7 months. Thank you for reminding me because ive got nervous when theyvsay coil cant last a months
Okay so after a Tank im gonna ckean my pre built coil. I wanna get me an RDA
Avoid chain vaping. I guess that’s good advice to people who vape for tricks or clouds. But ppl like me, who started vaping to stop smoking that I think is another story XD I’m on it like a pacifier
how many ml of liquid do u use per day ?
fraj marzouk I the vape like 3 times a day. Idk how much exactly
Exactly
One lasted me an hour once
Happened to me as well
Try not letting the tank go under 2/3 full also helps
Is this for premade coils?
in rta i had 1 coil for about 5 months
I reuse all of my coils. Even when I get a brand new one I rewick it.. and its perfect.
Reuse your coils people!!!
how do you do it? sorry i am new cloud chaser xD
Si, if I have a rebuildable coil, I’m just changing the cotton once every 2 weeks and that’s it right? I mean, I won’t have to waste a lot of money in buying more metal wires to build new coils
Depends on how much you vape. If you not a heavy vaper and you vape maybe once a day or every second day while gaming or watching series. Pre made coils can last more than a month..
You shouldn’t be vaping so much anyways and should having the goal of cutting down on mg of nicotine until you quit nicotine completely.
Great video. The only question I have is can juice rust a coil? I have a few different atomizers. Some I use more than others. So the ones that get used less often have juice left in the tanks. I've noticed slight discoloration in the juice over a bit of time. Can this be due to my coils degrading? I typically just re-wick and everything is fine, but it still has me wondering. Thanks.
No that will be the nicotine in your juice evaporating. Same reason why you should not store your juice in direct sunlight
@@joshuaskeels6901 there is no nicotine in my juice. I do not vape nic.
@IRISH JAY IRISH JAY that's not the issue. I make my own coils generally. I use top quality wire. I do sometimes use premade coils but they are also of high quality from reputable companies.
@@erikdravn Its been 2 years and no answer but the discolouration of your juice COULD be from oxidation. Yes, vape juice can oxidize and change into a darker colour when exposed to air. It doesn’t affect you or the flavour so you should be okay.
I'm wondering if it could be galvanic corrosion. Dissimilar metals in electrical contact will corrode in the presence on an electrolyte.
Amazing man thanks
Clear and Simple

Thanks for the tips! It will surely save me some $$..Great vlog!👍✌
Well, my coil is burnt and my vape can't produce smoke. And i can't but new coil because flavor ban in my country.
my 2 coils are 3 months old now every 3 days I wash and interchange them.still ok but since the occ coils are old they tend to condensation faster that looks like leak.from 40-80 watts now I used all my coils at 37 or 28 watts.
It’s very simple sweet juices like desserts you may wick sometimes every few days. Simple fruit clean flavors you can sometimes vape months without rewicking. Could have did a 2 minute video.
What causes the vape oil to turn a dark color? I'm assuming the coil needs to be changed?
*I have a Voopoo mod with a Free max Tank and vape at 60W my coils are Mesh Dual and last a week ½*
Chain vaping. I chain smoke so when I try vaping I end up constantly vaping. I end up spending as much money on new coils as I did cigarettes it seems. Then I flip out and go back to smoking. The main reason I want to quit smoking is because it cost me so much money. But the vaping doesn't seem any cheaper ugh
I build my coils and make my own juices. It is very cheap that way.
Get a rebuildable. Wire is cheap and so is cotton. You will spend so much less money.
Why does my coil taste better after lets say 20ml usage then after a properly primed and a brand new, i find the new one has a very smooth flavor very distinct of what the juice is advertised as to be.
But the after 20ml i find it has a darker sweeter flavor that i prefer.
Is that cause of some build up /slight burning going on inside the coil? Using Nasty juice Green Apple.
Also noticed on 80VG/20PG some have very very sweet thick flavor very tastey but i get around 20-30ml and taste is starting to get bland and harsh yet no significant burning of the cotton some blackening on the coil itself.
i have an old tothbrush head for my electric toothbrush i clean the rda coil with then after the carbon is gone then i dry fire it.
If your using a prebuilt coil in a tank and you are noticing a loss of flavor or vapor then empty your tank and fill it a quarter full of PLAIN VG. then vape that unitl you can no longer taste anything but the sweetness of the VG, then empty out your tank, refill it with the E Liquid you removed from your tank earlier and go back to your vaping. I do this all the time and I get 5-6 weeks out of my Aspire 0.7 ohm BVC coils vaping at 24 watts.
Where do you buy you coils at? I don't get anywhere near that.
@@misue9074
I buy them online.

Will dropping it affect the coil?
I have my pre made coils for 2months to 3months if i don't accidentally burn it beacause i don't realize the tank is empty😅 and even than some times it still gives me good flavor

For a quick clean On a premade coil take a take apart remove the glass put the top of the tank the coil in the bottom together take them out your compressor blow them things out you can take it apart and do it too but you gotta watch them O-rings their compressor tents blow and things all over hell as long as you’re cottons not Brìtt that’ll bring it back

I can use my Zeus X mesh coil for a month. I rewick every friday and i can use 1 coil for 4 wicking
My Drag X 80W coil lasted about 4 months
Which vape are you using, like the one you showed up in this video?
How do I know if my coil is clogged or burnt
All the pre- build coils for the many different vape pens I have always last me for months. When the throat hits are getting too hot I just rinse the coils with water so the darkish coton is white and the vape is smooth again. Copy-paste on TouTube:

Thanks Ben Roethlisberger
What is that in a cup? It is water?
I been buying these same coils for a good while now and I've been getting bad coils more and more frequent lately. The last box of 5 I bought only had 2 good coils in it and the last 3 started up without any flavor at all, I went through 3 coils in like 2-3 days. Don't really get why quality control is so difficult, so I ordered a build your own setup and I'm going to try ordering my own coils and cotton. There's nothing more disappointing then properly prepping a coil only to fire it up and there is absolutely no flavor at all and then have that happen to you 2 more times after that...how does that even work? Could it possibly be the juice? I'm thinking it's got to be defective coils. If I were to have to buy a new coil everyday I would end up paying more on my vape then I would on a pack of cigs a day lol.
My dude no flavour from RTA or rda means the wicking isn't sufficient not the coil try the Scottish roll method works perfect on my fused Clapton coils been using the same ones for 2 months now with regular cotton change most people chalk it up to the coils whilst they do play a part a lot of your flavour experience comes from how well you wicked the coils hope this helps :)
