  • This was one of the first songs i ever "learned" when i first started playing that made me think that bass was really, really rad. Also in this video im using the very first bass i ever got and "learned" this song on! I say "learned" cause i just knew the main riff and thought i was so cool but little did i know thats the easiest part lol.
    Yes i know theres a couple mess-ups in there haha nobody's perfect. The biggest one i didn't even realize until i watched it up on my laptop. You can literally see my face as i zone out and completely lose my rhythm (if you know a song so well you could play it second nature, don't try it while filming cause clearly that didn't work for me HA!)
    If you liked this cover and want to see more like it please let me know by either dropping a like or commenting what songs you'd like to see me do this with in the comments!

      z heitzer
      Any time I struggle with timing on a song the biggest thing that helps me (believe it or not) is to STOP counting. Sounds kinda whacky but really it helps a lot to stop counting, listen to the song and just kind of feel it out. The more I do that then it just becomes second nature and I don’t have to think about the timing.
      I would compare it to like when you hear a song on the radio over and over again and you’re not trying to learn the words but eventually you just know them cause you’ve heard it so many times, I just applied that same sorta methodology to learning licks with weird timing

      @AushaMusic  4 года назад +6

      SteelDialga I did like two or three lessons, didn’t really gel with my teacher, and never went back.
      RUclips and my peers became my teachers, being the worst one in the room helped me learn quickly - I was hungry to learn and in a scene surrounded by musicians better than me that were influencing and inspiring me every day. I got really lucky

    • @TheSteelDialga
      @TheSteelDialga 4 года назад +1

      @@AushaMusic oh wow, that's awesome! It seems like a lot of really good bassists don't take lessons and learn from the Internet instead. Rn my source of learning comes from my guitarist friend who's also a killer bassist, so it makes me wonder if I really need lessons or not. I guess I'll see as time goes on

    • @AushaMusic
      @AushaMusic  4 года назад +1

      Anything is a good thing if you’re getting some amount of take-away from it! If you feel like you’re learning from lessons, definitely stick with it! But RUclips is a great place to expand your learning past lessons. Find different songs or techniques or modes you want to explore, learn them outside of your lessons, once you meet back with your teacher, show them what you’ve been doing and they’ll be a fresh set of ears and a great resource to show you how to apply the things you’ve taught yourself in a way you might’ve not thought of before!

Spend a few hours on that and slowly get the speed up and eventually it’ll be second nature.
