I’m so excited that B5 journals are becoming more available. I always struggled with smaller pages. Now is my time to shine!

Er, actually I did exactly that-the same spreads but bigger, when I moved from A5 to B5, specifically because I liked my spreads, I just needed more room in them…

Haha 😂 well if they're working for you then all good! It was just some advice I got from a couple of B5 users!

And that’s totally fair. I know people who moved to B5 because they wanted room to include more things on one page/spread for a better overview, for example. I’m just out here repping the contingent that just needed more room because we can’t write small to save our lives and/or there’s a lot to list. So the spread is fine, it’s the handwriting and the level of busy that’s the issue! 😂🤣😂

Really enjoying watching you work through the transition from A5-B5! I'm currently a student teacher so I'm finding the A5 size to be enough for now, but I would definitely consider moving to B5 when I'm working as a full time teacher for my teacher journal. Side note, I also enjoy your teacher spreads/timetables etc. as they're giving me ideas/inspo for my future teacher journal 😊

Thanks for this layout. I was trying to figure out a more productive and cleaner way of doing my work journal weekly spread and I think this one is just what I was looking for.

I’m so glad you’re using a B5. I have a few in my collection but I’ve been too intimidated to use them as I am still very new to journaling. These videos are giving me ideas of how I can effectively use all the space! I also love the minimal look of the spread💜 I use daily logs and a master task list in my weekly as well as a weekly overview for events and my work schedule.

My weekly log has a habit tracker (10 habits in the same grid), a section for scheduled events, a mean planning space, a space for important notes, and half a page of brain dump. And since I use half a page for each daily, I use the last half page as a gratitude log.

Great video Jess! Thanks for sharing the process behind your weekly. Super random at 12:04 in the video, your left hand is almost in the shape of a heart. Kinda like love for your spread!

Awesome! I like that set up. I am so stoked to see all the ideas you come up with for the B5. I also really dig the highlighted lines too, it really helps me in my journalling area. My shit was looking pretty wonky at times! 😆 For my weeklies I have a mini calendar, rolling task list, meals, habits & goal steps tracker, a journaling area with mood tracker and the daily grid where I put weather, events and my kidlet's school schedule and site change schedule. He is a newly diagnosed T1D and there are content site changes to keep track of. I finally moved my food log and exercise tracker into a separate health journal, it was taking up too much space in my bujo. Anywho, have a great week!💜

As I said previously, I've gone digital, but my main planning happens in dailies now - never thought I'd be a daily planner girl LOL I do have a weekly and it has each days appts (without the times, it's more of a quick view) and a list of TV progs I'm watching.
My dailies is where it all happens now: I have a Rate My Daty, Pain Scale, Intentions, Self Care, Photo of the Day, Emoji of the day, Time blocking schedule, Three things I accomplished, a To-Do list and a small blank area for anything else LOL - sounds cluttered but it amazingly isn't

Thanks for another great video Jess, I love the weekly set up. That border is so simple yet beautiful. I've just started pencilling in the start of my new B5 reading journal and while the extra space is fantastic I'm intimidated by it at the same time lol

The last time you did a bamboo theme, ( April and you've done a one month of plan with me) you had daily logs too 😄
I absolutely love daily logs but I have switched to weekly logs for more structure since last month

I just decided to put weekly habit tracking as opposed to a full page monthly one, just because I'm more likely to actually do it if I see it on the same page that I journal on. (I journal my thought per day as well). I'm so glad to see another way of tracking weekly. Thanks so much!!! Loving the vlogs!!! Oh and the 'highlighted lines' trick...yea I needed that. I've been trying to do that but it just doesn't work for me

My weeklies have changed so much over time (have been bullet journaling since 2016). So, naturally, after a lot of trial and error, you know exactly what you need and how you need it to be set up - and I’ll share my typical weekly sections in just a bit. But, with that being said, I find that when the system your brain works best with becomes clear, then structure comes as consequence. And it then may vary week to week or month to month depending on specific needs that may come up. So, for me, productivity wise, things flow beautifully if I start my day naming 2 (and 2 only) priorities for the day. These are the things I’ll focus most of my time and/or energy towards - and this gives me a good idea of how many other tasks I can add to that day, if any. So, if I’m having a particularly intense week, with several pressing tasks that need to be prioritized, or I have monthly goals that I’m focusing on by splitting steps week by week, I’ll include a box for weekly priorities on top of daily priorities, to avoid wasting precious time on less important tasks. When that isn’t the case, I skip the weekly priorities altogether. So for each day of the week, I have 2 separate sections: one for those 2 priorities + appointments and the other for all other tasks. So that’s the productivity system that works for me consistently. Then I have sections to serve as database for the daily plan. Typically, there’s one for a general task list, one for “to buy/groceries”, one for notes and a last one for “currently”. The contents of the latter depend on what I’m focusing on that particular month. I did a perfume theme for April, so that section was where I wrote what fragrance I wore that day. Most of the time, I use it for daily highlights/memories/weekly favorites/gratitude, to give me some context about the week in question. But sometimes I’ll use it to track habits, sleep or mood. This system has been working out beautifully for me for months and I find that it helps me stay focused on what’s important. Anything else I may add to my weeklies tends to be temporary, but the basic structural system has remained intact for a long time. I find that weekly trackers can be very effective sometimes - especially for those of us who use weeklies as our main compass within the monthly setup. They may lack the bigger picture of monthly trackers, but make up for that in potential for accountability and motivation. When I needed to make changes to my sleeping schedule, this was very helpful. Same goes for nutrition, or if you’re starting to take supplements or exercising. I love weekly trackers. Additionally, there are weeks when I really feel like journaling about the day, or simply need extra space for whatever reason. So I create the same structure with a faux Dutch door (that I learned from you, thank you very much - from the tip ins video) and that gives me enough room to write a good 10-12 lines a day. So this is how I currently roll with my weeklies, I hope it gives someone new ideas.

I dont bujo on the regular. But I take inspiration from bullet journalling to structure my work notes. I prefer a B5 notebook because I use a 1/3 and 2/3 columns which in A5 wouldn't be practical. 1/3 is daily to dos (honestly very bujo like, but actually inspired by Get Sh*t Done which is similar but more to do than journal) and 2/3 for meeting notes.

I've been using the same weekly set up for a while now because it just really works for me - I have separate boxes for each day to record events, a mini calendar to see what week I'm in, a section for tasks, a section for notes, and a section for my tarot card pull that week

I use a B5 and I do the same spreads as in the a5 but with more whitespace. Everything felt very squashed in the a5, especially my monthly tracking pages with a list of 31 lines down the side, it felt like I had no space to process anything. I tried to squish everything up because I was worried about wasting paper. But when I moved to b5 I let myself just have a good 2-5 squares blank around the outside of my pages, and space between sections. Now when I open my spreads, they don't feel overwhelming, busy, squashed etc. I'm able to see things more easily and mentally take it all in better. Same reason I switched from doing dailies in half-page columns to full width dailies, leaving wide margins and gaps between days. My brain craved space.

As I do daily logs, my 'weekly dashboard' as I call it, is just one page with a master to-do of tasks that don't need to be assigned to a specific day, a list of events or things I need to remember that week, and a food plan section. It also tends to be the place I put decoration (doodles or washi tape) and my dailies tend to be plainer. Sometimes I'll include a habit/routine/cleaning tracker if I want to focus on something that week, but not always. If they are always there, then the novelty factor wears off, they become more of a chore and I stop doing the things/filling them in. My bujo is less of a productivity tool and more of a mental health/physical health/adhd help tool.
