You made a really good point. A lot of people in America just assume that the rest of the world has the exact same Internet, the same free access to so many different videos. I think it is time for America to stop pigging everything and make it possible for other people in many other countries to have the variety that we have here in the USA

It's amazing how they make it look like little models and props from a Wes Anderson special effects department. I wasn't positive it was all real footage until now.

Every time I watch a Colbert clip I savor that music right to the end of the video every time. Such a great piece.
What I love about this intro is that it makes the city feel *alive*. Every late night intro goes for a playful feel and many of them try to convey a sense of place (particularly the ones filmed in NYC), but none of them capture the beauty and dynamism of a city like this one does.
I love the little dancing Stephen and tiny playing Jon :D!

this is probably one of the most artistically original opening to a TV show ive seen in while.

This is one of my favorite pieces of art of any kind.
I had a pretty bad year. Hearing this song makes me smile, plus I love the toy looks of NYC.

I adore this opening sequence! All these years later, it still makes me smile.
My grandfather, born in 1893, grew up poor in NYC and rose (thank you, Cooper Union of yore!) to become CEO of ConEd. I remember mostly his laughter -- he had a beautiful laugh. (He died when I was six.) According to my mother, he loved the city's friction, its motion. This video captures both, superbly.
This puts a smile on my face every night. Every part of this is exactly what the kid in me wants, but done in a way my classier adult-self wants. I love the touch of the little Stephen's and John Batiste's everywhere.

This theme is really fantastic. It kinda reminds me of Letterman's old theme but feels renewed for the modern age. Really suits Colbert's current show; sticking to the old style of an actual talk show instead of filling it with game segments

The visuals are amazing, but the music really brings it all together. It's such an amazing total package and I'm so happy that there was more to it than just what made it into the opening itself.

This is the best late night talk opening tune ever and the diorama effect video of New York is just magic. There are some really creative people in this world, and Colbert has employed more than his fair share.

Colbert brings some serious class back to Late Night! :-D Having the amazing foresight to appoint Jon as the bandleader and music director, despite the (unwarrented) early negativity, makes him the best Talk Show host around, in my opinion! :-)

honestly. who would disklike this video? it's just beautiful from the amazing footage of the city to the wonderful music to stephen having some funny moments in it. i can't stop watching!

These, my friends, are some truly amazing special effects. I didn't know it was possible to make nyc feel this small with actual footage of it.
There's actually nothing "special effect"-y about it--it's called "tilt shift". Just a special technique with no added effects. It's all real.

Absolutely fantastic production!! And to think, this result was for the most part thanks to well directed camera movements and clever focusing/blurring of the picture, with (it seems) very little practical/CGI effects. Not to the mention the catchy musical theme by Stay Human. And while you are at it, you can play "Where are Stephen and Jon" through it! Congratulations to everyone involved!!!
