Love the way people can remember what they were doing when they brought this album. My parents had gone on holiday and let me stay home. They left £120 for food for two weeks and the first thing I did was spend £90 on CDs and Portishead was my favourite. I managed to survive on £30 for two weeks, I don't regret a thing. Amazing summer.
I know who you are talking about (tongue in cheek) ... no, but seriously I agree, very well played, and that's what makes this sound as good as, if not better than the studio / album version. The notes sound so rich and powerful and amplify what we hear in the original song.
Man I was turned onto this whiel working as a mechanic at a bike shop, we got a new guy who brought his copy of Dummy on CD in and we listened to it several times a week. We'd just get lost in it, wrenching away, and before we knew it we'd have cleared the repairs and were cranking out builds. What an epicly fantastic album!
WHAT THE FRICK! i’m a mechanic at a bike shop n showed this album to some co-workers and they all loved it, all these years later the album still touches people
😂😂Universe is a weird thing Sincerily - another glory box I got this album from my dad, whois a journalist, i mean like real og goat... And i poppedthis in to my dads racket and withheadpjones on, singing my heart out(not hearing myself ofcourse:) He always laughed and shook his head to my dodgy vocals, but still let me sit on the floor reading that cd album inside cover and singing... Oh the nostalgia😢❤😂
I'm so tired of playing Playing with this bow and arrow Gonna give my heart away Leave it to the other girls to play For I've been a temptress too long Just... They are incredible. So underrated in the mainstream. Guess that’s why they’re special. Only 3 albums is only thing that sucks. She is just unreal. And the production is flawless.
GENIUS! Summer 1994, walking on high street Kensington, London. This coming from a record store. Went immediately to said store. Asked who is this? They're phenomenal. Portishead. I don't know them, but I want the record. We're totally sold out hours ago. FUUUUUCK ! Bought it in Soho some months later. One of THE greatest debuts EVER! Glorious days of Britpop too.

Takes me back to 1994 - February - so cold. All alone because my best friend killed herself - every time I listen to this song the wound is tore open and pain comes rushing out filling my head, heart with choked back sobs of agony that I can’t control…. I miss you so much, every minute, every second Sarah…
Hay canciones que te hacen nuevamente revivir momentos desafortunados y también muy afortunados A mí me encanta aún que siempre que la escuchaba yo vivía un momento de abuso 😢😢
I acknowledge your pain, and I’m glad you are able to release some of it through posting this. Sarah had a wonderful friend, with a beautiful soul. I hope you find peace with her passing, and can reflect on a happy moment with her, the next time you hear this song❤️ She lives through you
They need to reunite and give us another chance to treat them like the exceptional musicians and artists that they are. I would prepay for albums and I would pay to see a performance like this that is also professionally recorded and sold because I would want to see it over and over like these on RUclips.

Anyone know Aidan who owned the pub behind where they recorded this? The pub was maxed out at 40 people but massive attack and portishead would arrive around 1-3am after a session back in the 90’s… good times if u know what I mean 😉

Age 19 - Dummy came out. Age 49 - still diggin' it. PortisheadForever.
We don’t have artists like this anymore. Her live sounds just like the album. ❤
I agree, Hooverphonic are another class act.
Beth Gibbons is one of those singers that sounds absolutely phenomenal LIVE!
Florence Welch = also great live. I agree, this is rare.
Much better
@@KirstenReed Exactly what I wanted to post, Florence Live at Royal Albert Hall is one of the most amazing things ive seen.
Beth and Portishead are just legends. They will always be a part of my life ❤

This atmosphere! Everything is so damn great at this performance! Even the cigarette in her hand. Every fucking detail is... just wow

Hah, I had to look back for the ciggie. When it was the norm in a pub and club eh? Times change, the music just does not!
