As a 35 years old woman I'll sign the petition for more adults on KPOP. I love BoA!! The sexiness is just different with +30 years old artists. Teenagers have their charm, and that's ok, but adults have their own charm and that's something I love to see. The confidence, the experience... Specially with someone like BoA who is constantly working on the industry and she knows what is trendy and what she wants to do aside from that.
Eric Nam is 32. Henry Lau is 31. Super Junior is 37 to 33. Max/ Changmin is 32, U-know/ Yunho is is almost 35. Im sure 2pm also has members in their 30's. Those are the only ones I know off the top of my head. It's not a lot but seeing as is BoA the very first of gen 2 (2003) it's going to be a while before we get a large number of 30+. I am sure you could find some Gen 1 groups that are still popular.
I love all of them! Changmin and Kyuhyun are my biases from those groups. Eric Nam is a cutie pie and I love him. And actually I'm a fan of SHINee and except TAEMIN they're 30 or close to that age. But I think most of groups, and specially female artists, tend to lose public attention when they pass that age and I think that's very sad. I love SNSD but except TAEYEON and HYO they don't release much music and nothing as a group since Lil' Touch. I loved when S.E.S came back a few years ago. I just wish they can have the same love as years pass by... It's not only a SM thing. I loved Miss A and their story was pretty much the same. SISTAR, 2NE1... And those are only a few from big companies that I can think of right now. So my wish is the same as yours that idols reaching +30 years old can release a lot of music. And I hope that will be that way with female as well as male artists.

These older groups don't need these popularity contest awards. When I see the 2.4 million views on Better, I think that 2.4Million (give or take) individual viewers. Not like BTS and GOT7 (i am an Aghase) streaming competitions with rules and streaming marathons. Yeah, sure it has 100million views but how many individual viewers? Also Taeyeon's Happy, is in my top 10 songs of the year.
10/10 from me of course. BoA is the one that got me into kpop so I'm glad that even after becoming a director at SM she still wants to perform and put out albums. And agree that she's only getting better with age and that's why it pains me that the younger fans have some prejudice against older idols saying that they are past their time or irrelevant and even try to diminish their achievements....forgetting that one day their favorite idols will be BoA's age too. Having idols like her still active and still being relevant actually gives me hope that some of the younger idols that I like today can actually have longevity in their careers if they work for it like she does.
I had never listened to BoA, but when I saw this song, and when I saw her perform at MAMA 2020 a few days ago, I fell in love with her. I absolutely agree that we need to keep the older idols. BoA, Big Bang, Lee Hyori, Super Junior, TVXQ, they have something special and that only gets better as they are fully grown ass men and women in their 30s now, and I think they absolutely fill a gap
There's a charm that older idols have that younger ones don't have just because they lack the 10-20 years experience BoA, Hyori and Co. have. I'm talking Chae Yeon, Bada, Lee Hyori, Rain, Sechskies, etc. They just have different levels of swag, they don't need anything but a mic a stage and a song and they'll slay it.
There's not a bad song on the album. It flows so well and her vocal range is amazing. She gave slower moments but also great bops also. I need this on vinyl
I think its interesting to see the way boa is viewed versus say super junior. not pitting them against each other or anything but because we see super junior all the time ( heechul on knowing brothers, kyuhyun on njttw and leeteuk like everywhere) when they release music its viewed as almost a typical comeback but when boa makes a comeback the response is interesting and ageism specifically for women definitely plays a factor in this. Women definitely have a a quicker expiry date than men in kpop. Also not relevant to the music video but in terms of end of year performances like mama recently I do not know why she didn't perform last. Like that was her 20 year anniversary.

BTS are bigger than Boa and Boa is passed her prime. Her songs are not huge anymore so it makes sence that she did not perform last. I know she has been in the industry for a while, but she is not that relevant anymore. Bts and the other groups are more famous than Boa these days. You old people need to move. The time has changed.

When I watched the MV, I also noticed there was something superior about it in terms of direction, production, everything in general, really, but I don’t have the technical knowledge to discern what was so incredibly cool about it, and watching your reaction, I kept going “Yes!” “Yes that too”, “OH YES”, because you perfectly described what I perceived but couldn’t describe. Also, the song is top notch BoA, and I LOVE it. Also, I completely agree on the petition to have more mature k-pop artist: they bring this natural coolness and sexiness to them that’s not dependent on the concept itself, it’s just their confidence and time perfecting their craft.
Thank you for praising both MAX and BoA as they rightfully deserve. I really appreciate 3rd gen groups as they introduced me to kpop but it's annoying to see some people throw out "queen" or "legend" at their favs all the time while they've only been present for a quarter of BoA's career. Where is the petition? I want to sign it right away! BoA... the funny thing is I actually got to know about BoA when I was just listening to J-pop. I even thought she was just a Japanese artist (proof that SM did a great job). When I entered the Kpop world thanks to SHINee's Lucifer (that's really the song that sold me), she actually released Hurricane Venus and then Copy and Paste, I loved both songs but I wasn't in need to listen to a soloist (I am more a group or band kind of person). Till probably 2016 I really didn't checked what she was releasing except when it was on the game SuperStar Smtown. Actually thanks to that game I got to have a bigger glimpse of her discography and I actually loved all her songs so much I got her in my top 5 for years (till last year actually). In 2016, I was lucky enough to spend my birthday at a SMtown concert in Japan and she was there. Even if I was there first because I was/am a Shawol and I loved most of SM artists, the one who got my attention was actually BoA. She was so.... mesmerising. She was shining on stage, she was perfect, a goddess. Since then, I actually checked out more her releases and even the album she released. But this one, Better, this album is exquisite and delightful. This is the real sexiness, her talent, her maturity, how she knows exactly what she is doing. She is so interesting too. I even bought this album (physically) because I knew it would be great but I didn't know I would love it that much. Her music speaks a lot to me, maybe because I am 31, but even in her documentary "Nobody talk to BoA", when she said she wasn't ready to sing Kiss my lips, that right now she would have nailed this sexier concept. I can totally understand that. For Max, Chocolate. I agree too, that was so sexy and sensual with some playfulness too. Just a mature version of the "sexy" we see normally in kpop but in a very classy way (well I have a certain definition of sexy and less clothes doesn't mean is not really what I call "sexy"... well it's sexy but it's another kind of sexy)... Anyway I wrote too much already. The song Better was definitely a 10 for me. The album? Same, a 10. I really hope for all SM current artists to have the same longevity as BoA. I meannnnnnn she ain’t THE Blueprint of longevity in Kpop for nothing. Heck, she embodies the essence of Kpop as a whole. From my very first time seeing her music video Valenti till now, BoA has been delivering nothing but top notch quality music. I still remember she celebrated her 10 year anniversary in Kpop business in 2010 with Hurricane Venus, and she was freaking 25!!! This woman has been the empress of Kpop for 20 freaking years, this masterpiece is delivered by a 35 years YOUNG woman. Let that sink in. I got into kpop kinda late (2017) so I didn’t experience the wave of 1st and 2nd gen but I like more those groups than the ones of today- I feel like a grandma. There is just something about their music that is so unique and that makes them so memorabke nowadays. I miss those groups :)

Yes, she’s BETTER than ever. Tbh i wasnt her fan, i mean i knew her early songs, actually just Every heart and Eat you up, i like them but didn’t find out much abt her (i wasnt into kpop either). Only from last year and recently, i see her more and got to know more abt her story, how she works very hard to achieve all this, makes me really respect her. Even tho her music isnt rlly my style, i still find her kind, charming, cool, down-to-earth, hardworking and talented. My first (and favorite) anime was inuyasha, and she did a very beloved and beautiful outro for the show, and one of my favorite openings for fairy tail as well. Now I'm still a weeb and a kpop fan, and she is still a queen and a legend to this day!
I agree we need more older idols! Most idols nowadays debut at like 16 and it’s a shame that the average life span of an idol is only 5-6 years. I hear people say “Oh these idols are already 28 and getting old. They will be replaced by younger and more talented idols.” No you can still be talented in your 30s like BoA here. When BoA in the Crystal headpiece popped I was like, Hold up that was just in KAI's so I to go rewatch mmmh after. I really am wondering if it's going to lead to someone kind of collaboration. Or if the piece just cost a lot and they wanted to reuse it. But I don't think it's that since the videos released days apart. I think that's a bit harder after the 7-year contract law, put in place after the TVXQ lawsuit, for idols to stay around until they are more seasoned artists, but bigger first-gen, early 2second idols are starting to get there. I am worried about how many of the younger members in gen-3 and now gen-4 are going to stay in the business, or at least big companies, in order to have some kind of private life, after their 7 years are up.

imo this album is the album of the year. i had nct 127's neo zone, wayv's awaken the world, taemin's never gonna dance again pt 1 and 2, twice's eyes wide open, loona's 12:00, lovelyz unforgettable, and nature's code m on constant repeat since these albums came out, i was sure one of these would be the album of the year because i had them in a constant loop, but better came and blew them out of the water. the day this came out i had it on repeat without playing anything else, lol. it's so so SO good!
I would sign that petition for more idols in their 30s. I'm in my 30s too and only got into kpop in the last few years, so I definitely feel like I missed my chance to see idols my age being ~big. Mamamoo is the only 'woman' group I can think of, some of their members are approaching 30 and you can tell, they're grown-ups. I hope that some of today's idols stick around long enough to be hot in their 30s too. I think the chances for that are now better than ever, with how big the global demand is for some of the ~older groups. I hope that whatever SHINee do now after most of them are back from military and before Taemin leaves, I hope that can be a grown-up, hot concept. I really loved this BoA video, she truly is the queen.

BoA... the funny thing is I actually got to know about BoA when I was just listening to J-pop. I even thought she was just a Japanese artist (proof that SM did a great job).
When I entered the Kpop world thanks to SHINee's Lucifer (that's really the song that sold me), she actually released Hurricane Venus and then Copy and Paste, I loved both songs but I wasn't in need to listen to a soloist (I am more a group or band kind of person).
Till probably 2016 I really didn't checked what she was releasing except when it was on the game SuperStar Smtown. Actually thanks to that game I got to have a bigger glimpse of her discography and I actually loved all her songs so much I got her in my top 5 for years (till last year actually).
In 2016, I was lucky enough to spend my birthday at a SMtown concert in Japan and she was there.
Even if I was there first because I was/am a Shawol and I loved most of SM artists, the one who got my attention was actually BoA. She was so.... mesmerising. She was shining on stage, she was perfect, a goddess.
Since then, I actually checked out more her releases and even the album she released.
But this one, Better, this album is exquisite and delightful.
This is the real sexiness, her talent, her maturity, how she knows exactly what she is doing. She is so interesting too.
I even bought this album (physically) because I knew it would be great but I didn't know I would love it that much.
Her music speaks a lot to me, maybe because I am 31, but even in her documentary "Nobody talk to BoA", when she said she wasn't ready to sing Kiss my lips, that right now she would have nailed this sexier concept. I can totally understand that.
For Max, Chocolate. I agree too, that was so sexy and sensual with some playfulness too. Just a mature version of the "sexy" we see normally in kpop but in a very classy way (well I have a certain definition of sexy and less clothes doesn't mean is not really what I call "sexy"... well it's sexy but it's another kind of sexy)...

I really hope for all SM current artists to have the same longevity as BoA. You can still do some killers music past 30. Also they will just look even better when they will age. When I see BoA, U-Know and Max.... they just look so fine!
Absolutely yes to all you said. I love BoA with all my soul and she's the queen of talent and sexiness no matter what the current industry and fans say. She's iconic and she's still got it, 20 years into her career. That's queen shit right there! I also resonate with your petition for older idols having comebacks and releasing music, mainly because I am an older kpop fan as well and those groups are what brought me to this kpop scene and sexy to me is also older people, just like BoA, Super Junior or SHINee, so sign me on it!
When musicians pass 30 they understand how to be sexy without the normal sense of sexy. It's that mature and understanding like PD says.

I meannnnnnn she ain’t THE Blueprint of longevity in Kpop for nothing. Heck, she embodies the essence of Kpop as a whole. From my very first time seeing her music video Valenti till now, BoA has been delivering nothing but top notch quality music. I still remember she celebrated her 10 year anniversary in Kpop business in 2010 with Hurricane Venus, and she was freaking 25!!! This woman has been the empress of Kpop for 20 freaking years, this masterpiece is delivered by a 35 years YOUNG woman. Let that sink in. Her artistry ages like fine wine, the more you wait, the better it tastes, just like the song title.
This kinda reminds me of a modern baby between BoA's Girls On Top and The Shadow and I am LIVING for that shit and this just exceeded my expectations by a lot and my expectations when it comes to BoA are not quiet low. And I agree with you that this is very much her style, I just can't picture anyone doing somehting like this except her.

I got into kpop kinda late (2017) so I didn’t experience the wave of 1st and 2nd gen but I like more those groups than the ones of today- I feel like a grandma. There is just something about their music that is so unique and that makes them so memorabke nowadays. I miss those groups :)
BoA was the first Kpop artist I listened to 15 years ago. I'm in my thirties now so I'm always happy to see older artists, maybe I relate more to their songs? And I totally agree with you, I can't find 18 years old boys/girls sexy, actually it's kind of uncomfortable to watch sometimes.

Yes, she’s BETTER than ever. Tbh i wasnt her fan, i mean i knew her early songs, actually just Every heart and Eat you up, i like them but didn’t find out much abt her (i wasnt into kpop either). Only from last year and recently, i see her more and got to know more abt her story, how she works very hard to achieve all this, makes me really respect her. Even tho her music isnt rlly my style, i still find her kind, charming, cool, down-to-earth, hardworking and talented. Now certainly she’s much more herself doing what she wants and still tries to improve herself and her work, that is amazing. Abt the song, it grew on me now i repeat it all day lol. And her Cut Me Off song from her new album is frking fire too.

BoA was technically my first introduction to kpop since I'm a huge weeb lmao. My first (and favorite) anime was inuyasha, and she did a very beloved and beautiful outro for the show, and one of my favorite openings for fairy tail as well. Now I'm still a weeb and a kpop fan, and she is still a queen and a legend to this day!

I agree we need more older idols! Most idols nowadays debut at like 16 and it’s a shame that the average life span of an idol is only 5-6 years. I hear people say “Oh these idols are already 28 and getting old. They will be replaced by younger and more talented idols.” No you can still be talented in your 30s like BoA here. BoA has been my ultimate bias since I was 13 back in 2005, This is her 20th anniversary. Fun fact: Her shoes got so wet she used a hairdryer to dry them and her shoes shrunk. AND SHE STILL DANCED IN THEM! Also yes those flowers were 100% real and it made her sneeze a lot haha!

When BoA in the Crystal headpiece popped I was like, Hold up that was just in KAI's so I to go rewatch mmmh after. I really am wondering if it's going to lead to someone kind of collaboration. Or if the piece just cost a lot and they wanted to reuse it. But I don't think it's that since the videos released days apart.
I think that's a bit harder after the 7-year contract law, put in place after the TVXQ lawsuit, for idols to stay around until they are more seasoned artists, but bigger first-gen, early 2second idols are starting to get there. I am worried about how many of the younger members in gen-3 and now gen-4 are going to stay in the business, or at least big companies, in order to have some kind of private life, after their 7 years are up.

imo this album is the album of the year. i had nct 127's neo zone, wayv's awaken the world, taemin's never gonna dance again pt 1 and 2, twice's eyes wide open, loona's 12:00, lovelyz unforgettable, and nature's code m on constant repeat since these albums came out, i was sure one of these would be the album of the year because i had them in a constant loop, but better came and blew them out of the water. the day this came out i had it on repeat without playing anything else, lol. it's so so SO good!

I would sign that petition for more idols in their 30s. I'm in my 30s too and only got into kpop in the last few years, so I definitely feel like I missed my chance to see idols my age being ~big. Mamamoo is the only 'woman' group I can think of, some of their members are approaching 30 and you can tell, they're grown-ups. I hope that some of today's idols stick around long enough to be hot in their 30s too. I think the chances for that are now better than ever, with how big the global demand is for some of the ~older groups. I hope that whatever SHINee do now after most of them are back from military and before Taemin leaves, I hope that can be a grown-up, hot concept.
