@@ThePondAdvisor I like all of it to be honest. But the spillway stone looks great, and I like the way he's finished the edges. It just looks natural with different size stones, cobbles and plants. It's not looking like a string of pearls edging it. Some people tend to use the same size slabs or stones and it's very man made looking. Even though this is man made, it looks so much nicer.
Well done Luke! Fabulous finished pond, I am impressed how you just got on with it and filmed yourself too, I know the pressure you were under and you smashed it! My favourite bit is the big stone under the waterfall, how the waterfalls over it. Proud of you 👍🏻
The Pond Advisor I'm new to ponds, and all the information I can amass the better, filtration and skimmers are what I'm trying to get my head around. Am watching your other uploads as well, thanks.
I have a pond of my own and a keep experimenting on it. And main goal was to make pond water pristine and clear. Recently I saw the concept of aquascape ion gen and learnt how it works and made my own which is efficient enough toh reduce algae bloom. I saw that ozone is also a tool to make water clear.... therefore my ultimate goal is to open a startup on water garden scaping thus learning new techniques and technology on my own that's why I commented for more technical stuff which is required before getting into pond buisness and all. Thank you
@@aquagardening5803 ozone is ok for for pools but you will have a problem with biological activity. I disregarded ozone over 30 years ago for the system I wish to create.
Hi Mark & Luke. I'm building my first pond after watching hours of your content. I'm filling in parts of an old koi pond in an effort to make more of a wildlife pond. What kind of material do you recommend for filler material for backfilling? Fill dirt, sand, or some combination? Thanks!
Totally depends on where you are, what you currently have in the space you want the feature. if your looking for someone to build, if you looking for the pond kit to build this feature yourself, I have written articles on what affects the price of a pond. If your looking for us to build you this and your in our catchment area we can have a detailed conversation, we would need some pictures so we can see what you see.
I see you guys often cut the lip off the spillway, do you think it just makes it too hard to create a natural look? Also, can the (filter?) at the top/spillway, can it be hidden? Or do you have to be able to get inside it for filter cleaning/replacement?
Yes you need to clean it (how often is depending on the load on the system). I have hidden a number of them for clients with 360 views. You can buy rock trays or add cobbles and pebbles to the top of the filter pads. The rock tray is the best however (makes it much easier). Yes we cut a lot of the lips off, it depends on the fall you want to create, if your looking for a curtain or glass finish it helps no end.
@@ThePondAdvisor Thanks. Is there a disadvantage of using a spillway box without a filter and having a filter at the other end near/with the pump? Just thinking about what I might DIY, I feel like the pump end might be more accessible (and of course I'll have to be able to access the pump anyway).
@@RichardABW having the pump in a skimmer is perfect for serving, these are the best types of mechanical filters. The only problem is the lack of biological filtration, hence why you have a waterfall filter the other side.
Nice work, Luke. Really liked how the steps were inserted via text during the video to show the step by step process of a goldfish pond.
Thank you,
Love it! Luke has put his heart into it and I can see how proud of it he is! Well done you ;)
Luke thanks you for you comment
Add of course I do as well, lol

That’s a really nice pond, looks amazing, I like it all, especially the spill stone rock wedged into the biofalls. Awesome 👍🏻
Thank 🙇 you
You should add plants to the pond for filtration and hiding places for the fish.!! Awesome build 👍🏽
Luke did an amazing job
Nice one Luke 💕
Passed on the message and he thanks you
DEAR POND ADVISOR, i have a request kindly make a video on how to calculate different variables while designing new ponds. some more technical stuff.
What type of variables do you want to see, options for ponds, up grades,

A loose material, sand, sandy loam, in swimming pools we use type 1 or crushed stone for compaction and drainage.
How much does something like this cost to have installed

Small Pond Kit (Professional)
Is this the same pond and if it is do you have a step-by-step video?
No this is a mini 6’ by 4’ diy pond kit. The small pro kit is very similar. I have a lot of showcase videos but not a step by step video
