To the question "what is anger?" I once heard a presentation about anger being a complex expression.
Unlike emotions, which are simple in motive, anger is different, because it is complex.
I heard anger being structured in 3 steps:
First step is blame, you must blame something in order to have anger, as being angry at all implies that you are angry at something, and being angry at something implies that you are blaming that something, since you would not be justified in your anger otherwise.
Second step is hatred, you must hate something in order to be angry.
Hate and anger are destinct from one another, because hatred is an emotion, whereas anger is an expression of said hatred.
Third step is action, anger is expressed, so it contains some form of action to manifest. If it is purely something which is felt, then it is not anger, but hatred instead, once said hatred is expressed however, then it is categorized as anger.
The idea posed suggest that all 3 steps are present in all forms of anger, and if you remove either blame, hatred or action then anger can not exist.
This is the reason why anger is a complex expression. Because it is made up of a multitude of procedures.
I thought this presentation made a lot of sense when I heard it, so I wanted to share.

That's an interesting explanation! I do think that anger can still be an emotion, but I do agree that it is a complex one. I think stating that hatred is simply a state of being while anger is the action is not necessarily accurate.
I have been angry plenty of times and have never felt the need to act on it. I wouldn't consider that hatred. But I have seen plenty of instances where hatred has caused people to act and violently so.
But I also don't think hatred is required to have someone act, simply being angry can cause that. It's why I liked the idea of anger being a signal emotion, as I mentioned in the video.
I think we can agree that it is all complex and human emotions are fascinating.
Thank you for sharing and checking out my video! 💜

@@Witchy_Reads my facts are only as accurate as my memory, probably faulty to a tee.
I was just thinking about the question "what is anger?" and found the question itself, to be an interesting one.
Because understanding what anger really is, is essential to the analysis and conclusions.

Great video, I agree, anger, like any emotion, isn't bad, it's just how you channel and use it. Though I will say the polyamory flag you used is outdated and has been retired. The polyamory community voted for a new flag in 2023, a better flag, that best represents them more. You can find and read about the new flag at polyamproud. I'm part of the poly community, and while I understand your confusion with the flag, considering there are so many variants that have been created over the years, try to do better research. The flags under the LGBTQIA+ community is ever changing as we discover more about ourselves and what our identity means. The colors on those flags aren't just strips, they represent who we are, and what our identity means to us. So be more considerate when picking your flags or any symbol of a community or identity to make sure you're spreading the right one.

Thank you for alerting me of the change to the Polyamory flag. I was not aware and apologize if I offended those in the community in any way by including it. My goal in including the individual flags when describing any LGBTQA+ characters is to celebrate their individuality in the community. I will try to be better about verifying the correct symbols and flags for each group going forward.
As this is the first new flag for the Poly community in nearly 20 years I would hope to be allowed some grace. As a cursory Google search pulls many images, so this mistake could be easily made by anyone. I am doing my best to be inclusive, but am still human and make mistakes.
Thank you for including the website where I could find the correct flag. For what it's worth, I think the new flag is gorgeous and after having read a few articles, I understand why the change was made.
Thank you for watching my video. 💜

@@Witchy_Reads I can tell you're trying your best, and like I said, I know it can be confusing, even I can't keep up with all the changes to the flags and definitions of even my own identities, let alone those I an not apart of. So I understand :)
