Usually the background music in grocery stores I visit isn't too intrusive, but the other day they must have put on some top hit list because the songs were so repetitive and "in your face" that my brain felt like it had been thrown into a tumble dryer for the whole time I spent in there. Very high production value for being a starting channel with relatively few subscribers. You must have had other channels before, or just experience in production and editing elsewhere?
Ouch! Not a fun feeling at all, I feel for you... To answer your question, I don't have much of a background in production. A few things here and there but nothing serious. It wasn't until this past year that I began working incredibly hard to learn and hone my craft in order to provide real value to others. Additionally, I make it a point to surround myself with individuals who know more than me and push me to grow. Especially on the technical side of things, they are absolutely key to any success this project has. Hope this answers your question! Glad you're here, Fred
I found you through Brittany Pettibone and you're awesome. Modern pop music is degenerate in so many ways, a byproduct of our plastic capitalist culture that breeds degeneracy. There are a few artists I listen to today who make contemporary classical music but in all honesty I think in the west music peaked in the 16th through 19th centuries. In the east, traditional classical music continued on much longer, and pop music in the DPRK draws heavily on classical music. The complexity of classical music reminds us of how precious music can be and how much it can enlighten us. Whereas pop music is just four chords and 2 minutes and 50 seconds of hedonism.
Most people, and especially the younger generations in the western world are heavily brainwashed and pacifying themselves with drugs to shut out the depressing state of the prison they are living in. When the incredibly corrupt western elites see that North Korean society is actually much happier, warmer and more moral than theirs on average, it triggers their jealousy which causes them to go out of their way to paint the worst possible image of North Korea to their own citizens. That way, they will actually be made to believe that they have it so much better and go on pacifying themselves with such vices as drugs, casual sex and mindless entertainment.
@@revolutionaryhealing9992 Well said, I agree 100%. Western elites are scared of nations like the DPRK where the people are happy and the nation isn't property of IMF loan sharks.
@@ErikaBell_Z I once heard a term for describing people who get triggered by those who are highly evolved or are advanced souls, too. It’s called spiritual jealousy.

It doesn’t exactly look like such a livable place when the pressure on its people that exists thanks to the competitive nature of capitalism causes them to have the world’s highest suicide rate, lowest fertility rate and one of the lowest happiness rankings, does it? Not to mention the portion of its population which still lives in shantytowns or slums with third world conditions which only exist in capitalist societies.

I listen to music constantly every day but not modern Pop music. Along with classical artists I have always favored more complex modern genres such as prog rock and alternative bands. There is is rich, powerful and even beautiful music still being made but you kind of have to seek it out.

Unfortunately, most public places play rap music today. It has degraded society beyond belief. I often lament that TVs and music is constantly blaring everywhere. We won’t be taking our kids out very often because there are very few public environments that are conducive to civility. We enjoy time in nature and attending events with genuine culture. We need to bring back culture and high society again. So tired of all the tripe and trash.
I still haven't found something better than Handel's Messiah. It is one of the greatest musical expressions that man has ever created. You make some very good arguments in this video and I appreciate it.
I HATE the kind of pop music that plays in the background, and you don't even really listen to it! It isn't WORTH listening to, and that's why your attention naturally wanders while "listening" to it.
I have an interest in a wide variety of musical tastes. I wouldn't say that Classical music (as I assume you're implying) is the only true music. I can find myself truely engaged and emotionally moved by a good electronic trance track as I would be by a present day composer or one from a previous era. I do agree though that the Pop music we hear today, is infulfilling. Comparing it to fast food was very accurate. I honestly believe that the talent shows such as xfactor and the likes was the final nail in the coffin for mainstream pop music, its a cheap, short lived rehash of what was available in the year proceeding it and this trend continues on some endless loop of musical murder. Made worse by the music videos that are produced for these tracks, disgusting.
thanks for your insight and feedback. I'm not saying classical music is the only "true" music. Simply that it is far more worthy of that label than any of the manufactured pop of today is. Also, for people wanting to rediscover a meaningful experience with music, classical is a great place to start! 🎶
@@RewiretheWest You should check out some electronic music composers exploring contemporary, new soundscapes. They're sometimes a bit harder to get into, but they definitely provide meaningful experiences. Jon Hopkins, Disasterpeace, Little Snake, Ivy Lab, Boards of Canada, Photay, Emptyset, False Noise Edit: I might have mistakenly assumed you weren't familiar with these. That could of course be possible. You enjoying classical music does not exclude enjoying all sorts of other music.
@@RewiretheWest I would say that Jon Hopkins is a good start to see if electronic compositions can offer you a similar kind of 'depth of experience' and 'invitation to open your senses' as attributed to classical music in the video. He explores timbre, rythm, minimalistic iterative development and a slow arc of building tension and cathartic release within tropes of 'build and drop' structures. Of course the 'story arcs' of the compositions are shorter than classical concertos, but I still feel if you listen to an album of his from start to end it conveys an overarching narrative of sorts. I am rambling and not fully coherent/succinct, but I hope my enthusiasm and love for his music comes across :)

Hmm. That's an interesting take on it. I don't merely view Pop music as "porn", as I feel like there can be some benefit to pop if you know where to look. For example, sometimes certain artists have very interesting videos. Aurora is a good example of that, and while I wouldn't say that I approve of all of her stuff, the representation of art is something that is very interesting and insightful in some musicians, even in the modern-day era. The music and the video representation of it can be very interesting, and I very much enjoy geeking out about it. And, not all of it has to be about sex....
Basically, I view music as an expression of pop culture, and while I wouldn't say that I listen to everything, I do think music videos can be interesting from an artistic standpoint.
But then again, I hang out in weird niiches. While I'm in my early 20s, I often lsten to a lot of 90s material, like Tori Amos, Bjork, and the like. So who knows...
At the same time, though, if I apply myself, I can appreciate classical music. When I was I kid, I really enjoyed Stravinsky's Petrushka, and I would play it over and over again for hours.
