Great Job!! love the end result! If you change your green cutting matte out for something that does not have a pattern your camera will focus on what you place in front of it as it has nothing in the background to focus on.
Oh hey baremetal! Yea I have an expensive camera and it’s really picky, trying to do more macro shots now but that’s a new set of problems. I going to shop for a lens that has a wider focus area if that’s possible. You inspired me to build a channel, and it’s been blowing up all day! 🕶
baremetalHW…. I notice you often snip your wheels off and leave the axle, whereas DieRes, you will snip the whole axle off and simply glue a new one in place....although so far, I haven't seen you come across the bent axles, only straight ones. When do you guys decide to keep the axle and just push on new wheels, and when do replace it?
Try 50 50 of transmission fluid and acitone let it sit in it over night and it will destroy the rust I use it on tracors to clean the rust it works great
You had me cracking up @ around 8:57! You mentioned the interior paint that, "some kid put on there, 20 years ago." Then you pull out a "20 years edition" chrome pen!
Wow!! I just watched this video. That's awesome that you saved this casting. Somebody else would have probably just tossed it in the trash. Awesome work 👍👍👍!!!
I love watching paint removal. It makes me stupidly happy. I like that you show more if the restoration process than some channels. Plus I have some less than fond memories of my dad's old Pacer. I'll give you a sub
Doubt you'll ever see this but, I truly miss this content and your builds. I love my HW and always wanted to this. Started to do this till life got in the way. Just coming hack to rewatch your first video again for probably the 50th time. God speed brother, hope life is going better you.
Great vid and custom. Motivated me to head for eBay and buy a Packin' Pacer. Oh, and after cutting out the axels I was able to use a small screwdriver and open up the crimped area that used to hold the axle in. That let the new axle and wheels sit flush with the base without grinding. A drop of thick super glue and I was good to go! Keep 'em coming. Love watching you, baremetal, and MMM along with some others.
I'm jealous of your work. That's awesomeness right there. I restore cars sometimes, I have a hot wheels 1979 Ford Mustang that I plan to paint strip and repaint the bottom Gray and the top Blue.
Thank's for a great vid,,awesome restoration,I used to work in an American speed/spares shop here in the UK,that was a long time ago,,these days I restore model cars, great fun,,have a great week,
Wow, even back at the beginning your restorations were excellent. It gives me hope that I might not be a total disaster once I start restoring cars myself. 😂
Turned out amazing, love the color and I agree with you on the casting. Looks so much better when you file and sand it all smooth, it gives it a nice clean look. If your going to do it, do it right.
@@gearupsurvival3144 Yes, i'm a retired helicopter mechanic and kinda like all things mechanical and vintage. There is something relaxing about watching the restoration process. Kinda like ASMR for gearheads.
Lol... I had both this diecast car as a kid and an actual '77 AMC Pacer later on. I did think about getting a full sized stripe pattern on my actual car, but was too poor at the time (Which also explains I was driving a 15 year old Pacer back then). Good times...
i build models as a hobby. for jet plane canopies most of us sand them smooth like you do with your sandpaper. then we dip them in floor wax to get that crystal clear and perfectly smooth finish on them. the wax is pledge revive it gloss wax. goes on smooth, and is self leveling. so no runs just an idea to make your cars pop that little extra bit.
Next time try brake fluid for cleaning painted windows. Marty's matchbox make overs use this technique and you won't have to sand it. Good job on the Pacer.
Nice job! I’m restoring the same car right now, 1977 AMC Packin’ Pacer that I’ve had since I was a kid but it’s a little better shape than the one in your video!
Bro just to let you know I watched all your videos and respect the time you take to make these videos and edit them. Most people don't realize that it does take some time. Your videos are entertaining and educational. I commented on this video because this was one of my favorite "resurrections" out of the many I favor that you have done. Keep up the great work and say hi ti Jimmy for me - he hasn't been getting much attention lately. :)
Funny....everyone I knew back then had that same yellow 'Packin' Pacer", but I have never seen that wagon body style on the road. I've only seen the coupe with the "flying fishbowl" rear windows. Great video. That rose color looks great with the yellow windshield. Chrome paint on the engine looks great also, but I'm not sure about the chrome seats/dashboard, though.
Fun fact, the real Pacer's passenger door is slightly longer than the driver side to allow easier access to the back seat. Brutally hot in the summer with all that glass. My friends parents had one in the 70's. We affectinionatly called it the fish bowl.
If you think you may be doing this for some time to come, you might want to invest in a mini drill press. I made my own for working on fly fishing reels. It's much safer when drilling rivets or other small precise holes if you don't have to worry about keeping the drill and workpiece still.
Another fantastic one! I love the contrast between the yellow glass and the red body. Good call. I didn't care too much for the yellow car with yellow glass in your book. As a side note... This is on Mattel/Hot Wheels designers... Has anyone else ever noticed that Hot Wheels specifically chose the Pacer that doesn't look like the stereotypical Pacer? But, it's not odd that they chose the wagon for this model instead of the sedan. It's odd that they chose the wagon, went out of their way to elongate the side rear glass, just like they should have, but they failed to divide it into two sections, the front section being noticably shorter that the rear section. Yes, the car is supposed to have approximately ⅓ front side glass and approximately ⅔ rear side glass. These are life's inexplicable little mysteries that keep me up at night. I think of these things so you don't have to. 😁😁😁
On your chrome surface(s) - after you clean off as much as possible you could use a super-high-gloss black followed by ALCLAD Chrome and you'd be amazed at the results. Of course that Chrome pen is pretty awesome (and I bet a lot less expensive, too!) Nice job on the restore! A pair of wire cutters (not side cutters) would allow you to open up the tabs (probably)enough to remove the axles in that matter.
I got hooked on watching some of you HotWheels/MatchBox restoration dudes while chilling out over Christmas (it's extremely satisfying to watch all the cars I owned as a kid be brought back to life). I have no intention of trying this on my own - but the DIY side of me is curious to know - why do you guys all use Super Glue to replace the axle crimp? I would think a Soldering iron would work better, no? Or is the metal not compatible with the car bases? Just curious. Awesome channel, love it.
Loving this channel. Watching your processes along with baremetalHW's has gotten me to try my hand a bit on some customs (not restorations, though. My skills aren't nearly good enough for that!)
Oven cleaner works great to remove chrome. I drop the part in a peanut butter jar. With a few sprays, then screw the cap on . In about an hour if that the chrome is gone. I then put the jar under the faucet and rinse til clear.
I'm not all caught up on your videos so you may have changed to 600 or 800 grit sandpaper to keep from making scratches that telegraph through the paint. This one turned out cool! I have thought about how to make a real one cool and decided the shape just wouldn't work. But with a motor in the back, the copper/bronze red and the yellow windows does it just right.
Very nice. I don't know why but I need a Pacer and a Gremlin X for my collection. Ugly cars....lol. Like homely dogs you just want em. Sorry, Pacers and Gremlins are rare castings. This one was revived BIG TIME.
My first car was a 77 Pacer. It was the bubble butt kind, much more rounded in the rear than this model. It wasn't a fast car, it had a 3 speed automatic trans and shifted slow, but once it got up there it was alright, the engine was strong enough, 6 cylinders. The steering was pretty tight, no play in the wheel at all, could do a tight turn due to the short body. It was a pretty solid car. Mine was a bronze color with bench seats in the front, though most are shown with bucket seats. Sure, Pacers are not the picture of grace, but I still liked it and sometimes I still miss it and wish I could drive it around again.
I know this is a couple months after the video went up but I can't help but feel that some of those casting flash remains around the window frames are what actually holds the window glass flush.
Awesome, I decided to come right back to the beginning at watch your videos from scratch.
Great Job!! love the end result! If you change your green cutting matte out for something that does not have a pattern your camera will focus on what you place in front of it as it has nothing in the background to focus on.

Great information. I need this myself
Try 50 50 of transmission fluid and acitone let it sit in it over night and it will destroy the rust I use it on tracors to clean the rust it works great
I like this car but should’ve used the blackwall wheels and yellow paint to keep it original.

Another awesome restoration video fantastic job my friend

It's cool to check out these older vids to see how much your restoration techniques and presentation skills have improved since then.
Great job. It looks very nice. The colour is fantastic.
You're the master of restoration
ReWatching all your old videos!
Wow, even back at the beginning your restorations were excellent. It gives me hope that I might not be a total disaster once I start restoring cars myself. 😂
Semplicemente un capolavoro. Hai riportato in vita un modello che era da buttare. Ottimo lavoro!
I don't know what you said.. but Ima give you a thumbs up!!
@@DiecastResurrection I said it's a masterpiece. You brought back to life a model that was to be thrown away. Goooood work!
This is truly a resurrection! The result is awesome.

Oh wow, what a great makeover, love your vids, take care as always from South Africa 🇿🇦
By the way, if you ever find a tractor that needs a makeover, would love to see that
I’d love to, if I found the right one. I had a John Deere G that I had a love affair with but had to sell it cause I moved away.
JB weld would be really good for gluing the axles back into place. I never leave home without it.
Notice you have been a regular on this channel. 😉😁

It looks spectacular. That Metal Flake red was the way to go. Great work
Excellent restoration, well done and many thanks for sharing.
Superbe travail! La couleur rouge légèrement métallisée est magnifique! Congratulations!
Very well done! The red looks fantastic!
Best restoration video I’ve seen
Couldn’t ask for a nicer comment, thanks!
Great Job, its very exciting and relaxing watch this videos in the middle of the Work Time. Regards
Love the outcome of this car also enjoyed all the videos of yours that I've watched so far keep them coming
Thanks for the video you do a great job of restoring theses cars
I wish I could buy this car. Good job on the restoration!
Really liked this, length of the video was perfect, great job mate!
Love the video from start to finish nice job.
Fantastic restoration channel! Great work, thanks for sharing!
I would clean out that casting flash too. It’s a real bug-bear of mine when I watch others who do not clean up the castings.

Wonderful work. The car really looks sharp now !
Thanks man! Gotta find a Volvo 240 to do a custom on ;)
"Party on Wayne, party on Garth!" :)
I just bought that car for $6.50, it has good wheels and a good windshield. I liked your restoration so much on this one I wanted one just like it.
you coulda had mine for $6.25!!
No, I enjoy restoring cars on my own but thanks anyway.
After the nice job you did on that car I would keep it besides it’s worth more than $6.25.
Donald Swink just being silly Donald!!
The casting burrs drive me Crazy!. I love it man. Too funny dude.
Wow it is an amazing restoration. Great video
