For old TV's the resolution had nothing to do with the audio though, I had a 240p TV with stereo and I still have that TV.
Early PS1/Saturn games such as UMK3 (Saturn) already had a high quality sound design even tho the graphics are very horrendous.

This is nostalgic. I was born in 2007 so I never played it on the N64, however the DS remaster was one of my favorite games at the time (and still is), so I played the game a ton. Also this song just slaps objectively.

I remember playing this game ported on the Wii with my dad all the time. It was such a trip. I forgot which painting it was, but it's the checkered room in the basement. I was so scared of that painting specifically, but my dad would coax me to play throughout the level. Nostalgia hits hard man.

Ahhh. The N64 was a great console, back in the day the graphics were just happy and toon like (before everything got HD and too real).
I still have a Nintendo 64 and I still play it, I actually got 2 N64. I just love the classics:-)

it feel weird hearing the og sm64 ad saying that sm64 had great graphics although i know it was good graphics in 1996, it still feels weird.
On RUclips, the resolution changer also changes sound quality as many people know.
One thing that many people don't notice, however, is that one of the ways the sound quality is reduced from 360p to 240p is by turning the audio from stereo to mono (as this requires about half the memory).
Anyway, the Nintendo 64 had stereo audio output and the music written for Mario 64 was also written for stereo output devices.
Aside from just that, the actual audio quality was much higher than RUclips 240p.
I 100% this game on the DS, more than 10 years ago. At my 26 years I realized I didn't do it for the N64, one week ago I beat the game for the first time.
Legitimately one of the best songs ever made for a video game OST. It's just so catchy and iconic

Jacob Garza It is not the same. But since I owned Super Mario 64 DS first, it holds a special place to me. Even though my first POWER STAR SAVING Mario game was Super Mario Galaxy, it is not as special. That was certainly not my first Mario game.
Jacob Garza I respect your decision, too. I really wish I could get an N64 so I could play the original. No more power flowers, just caps. The original seems harder, and that's what I like about Mario games. They get harder and harder and harder.
