    Your efforts to teach point group theory is marvelous. It is not easy task. All points are imaginary in point group. I am Professor of Organic Chemistry & I know what problems come to teach this topic. One more thing: to explain Dnd point group you should take Newman projection of ethane molecules instead of Sawhorse projection. Newman projection explains all the things related to Dnd point group. Whether it is dihedral angle or Cn/ POS. Overall your efforts are appreciable to learn point groups.

    If We wants to see point group in linear molecules then first see whether the molecule have inversion centre ??..... If yes then D(infinity h)
    If not then C ( infinity V).

    Mam, H2O2 is not a planr molecule and it is open bool like structure and Sigma( P.O.S) is not possible mam.. kindly please correct it.

    In the example of ethane, when we use staggered conformation and eclipsed conformation,both will give different results. You used staggered here . But we'll get one C3 axis of rotation (alongx) and one C2 axis of rotation (along z) . IS THIS DATA CORRECT OR THERE IS ANY OTHER AXIS IN ADDITION .???

      Staggered ethane is D3d. Eclipsed ethane is D3h because sigma h is present.
      There is 1 C3 axis and 3 C3 axis in both.

    Mam apne Co(en)3 ke example me three N ko BF3 ke jese assume Kiya h but a esa kese ho sakta h ek N to axial bond par h or baki ke 2 N equitorial position par h matlab ek N ka plane dusra h baki bache hue 2 N ka plane dusra h or BF3 me to tino atoms ek hi plane me hote h kindly request you to solve the problem.

    In staggered ethane ,when we passing a plane I can see as a perpendicular to principal c3 axis ...why it not considered as horizontal plane

    Mam in case of o=c=s you pass subsidiary axis parallel to principal axis but you said tgat subsidiary axis is always perpendicular to principal axis

      Sigma h is basically the plane perpendicular to principle axis.
      If there is no Cn axis present in molecule except C1 ....like in HOCl, we call it molecular plane (a plane passing through all the atoms of a molecule)
      So a molecule having C1 and a molecular plane will have Cs point group

      Draw the lone pairs of oxygen and then pass a plane bisecting H , O and Cl ; and reflecting lone pairs

    In linear molecule O=C=S how is C ♾️ present??? Bcz when we paas the axis there will be no symmetry cause both the atoms re different.....if anyone knows the answer plzz reply...

      Aisa koi rule nahi hai ki principle axis atom se paas karegi hamesha ...the rule is ...axis of Symmetry should pass symmetrically through the molecule

    Mam why u r saying that there is not any sigma v (plane of symmetry) present in H3PO4 .?what happened if we Orient all OH BOND in similar direction?so that thay can be mirror image.. pls explain..
