AEUG, Titans, Axis, their final battle over "GrypsⅡ" was about to reach its climax.
Their objective was plain and simple, how to seize the control of Colony-Laser, when to activate its god-like power to win the war.
And, which enemy to aim at,,,
After 7years from "1-year war", Char was there, on a partially disabled Mk-100 to end his personal war against Axis' leader, his ex-lover, Haman.
Professionally as well as personally,,,
This scene was altered in the process of making the 3rd Z-movie.
Especially, Haman's emotional response to Char's end, her true desire to the enemy, her ex-lover, Char.
That is too serious a mistake!
After viewing, you'll know why the TV-series is much better, much more exciting, and much more dramatic! than those damn movies.
This last fight of Zeta has got to be my favorite performance of Char as a pilot. Outnumbered, against two of the most powerful newtypes in history, both piloting state of the art prototypes against Char's Hiaku Shiki, Char gives everything he has, pushing that golden suit past its limits, until there's literally nothing left of the thing. And he never gives up! He uses his senses, his experience, and every trick up his sleeve to take the Qubeley down. Until there was literally nothing left to fight with anymore.
Literally fight to the last arms and legs.
He fooled Haman using the wreck of a Titans Salamis Kai.

Compare it to survive from Amuro it’s actually not that big deal
@Komican All Amuro needs is the Mk2 or the Gundam Alex or even a damn Ball and he would solo Haman

He can easily shot down the funnels. Haman can't out think nor is she as clever strategist as Amuro.
Remember guys, Char`s Shiki was starting to become outdated when compared to other high spec suits at this time.
Guy was punching above his weight class and still gave them some trouble.
I agree. Very impressive fight. Char may not be the best pilot but he is one of the top. This fight could have gone differently with a better suit

Char is a low tier New Type, relies mostly on his skills and experience, has a second tier MS, fought like hell against 2 top notch New Type pilots & Top line MS of the time, if you played ZDX, The O and Qubeley are both top class MS (375 cost) and Hyaku shiki is 310, one tier below
this was Char's best fight in my opinion, He was in a Hyaku Shiki against a machine built for Newtypes. still managed to clutch the win and get out of dodge

Even the Z, a much more state of the art machine compared to the Hyakushiki, was already getting obsolete by the end of the series
Char more than holding his own against the strongest characters using the old Type 100 is nothing short of impressive
The z, introduced so late, always felt like it was outdated by the time it showed up. It was powerful for Aeug, but the titans and zeon had more powerful units by then.
Its a shame as the zeta is my favorite mobile suit visually (with regz my second favorite)
As many wrote before me, it's amazing how Char is the weakest newtype (of the four) in the final fight, PLUS arguably pilots the "weakest" mobile suit, yet he still fights like a total badass. If he had the Sazabi, he would have crushed them all. Man, what a pilot....
Sometimes, it doesn't take a newtype to become an amazing pilot that can rival newtypes. Char just happened to be such a pilot WITH newtype abilities.

シャアがバルカンを撃った時、ハマーンはサーベルで応戦しようとしたけど、その爆発までの若干の間でハマーンがシャアを討つに踏み切れない迷いが現れてるように見える。
爆発すると思ってなかっただけで余裕をもってトドメ刺そうとしてるよ。

シャアが存命し脱出した痕跡のある百式が、一瞬、画面を横切るんです。
・・・それが、映画「逆襲のシャア」への伏線だった・・・っていう。

There's a pretty big difference him and Kira. Char had some stuff covering him from the brunt of the explosion and the main body of the suit was still relatively intact.
Kira on the other hand, had an open cockpit, to an mobile suit exploding right in his face. He survives. His mobile suit in destiny gets stabbed through the gut, and somehow, the arms and legs explode, but the body, the part that actually got stabbed, does not.
Not to mention the stab went straight through the cockpit and we see him brutally disintegrate.
@@MrPikaGammer the Freedom's cockpit isn't at the upper waist like most gundams. It's an the centre chest.

...you do realize that, aside from the enhanced animation, this stuff was almost exactly the same in the movies, right?
And as for Char/Haman, the only information we have on that comes from Char's Deleted Affair - a side-story manga that shows how Char treated Haman: like a little child.
In short, Char didn't touch Haman, nor did he even think of her that way. The feelings were all hers, and he kept pushing her away because he didn't even concieve of a 14-year-old like that.
Char did get her friend pregnant though lol

The canonicite of Char's Deleted Affair it's debatable. So it's fair in a way to think that they could have had some romance.
@@pedrolucassampaio I'd say CDA's canonicity is pretty well established, since it goes off the 0079 movie trilogy instead of the show (which was closer to Tomino's original vision anyways, plus CCA shows a flashback with the core booster and not the G-Fighter)

And yet, when she defeats the Red Comet, the only thing Haman feels is remorse that Char couldn't come back to her place. Not even lushes like Chara Soon or Cima Garahau would be so emo. Haman Khan proves the point that newtypes are not only weird, but the weirdness is directly proportional to how strong they are.
こんなにボロボロになった百式で、ハマーンのキュベレイと戦えてる時点でシャアは強い。
残念ながらシャアはハマーンに負けたよ
巡洋艦サラミスの爆発に巻き込まれる危険性も十分ある状況なので、シャアにとっても一か八かの賭けのような危ない橋だったと思います。

Char learning from Amuro:
When Amuro fought him in the Zeong, Amuro used the Gundam to get up close to prevent Char from using an all ranged attack. Char is trying to use the same maneuver here but unlike Amuro, his trick fails because Amuro did it in an open area(Amuro had a lot of space to move around which increases Char's chances of hitting himself if Amuro manages to dodge the attack in time.) whereas Char did it in an enclosed with Haman sandwiched between him and the wall(so not only does Char not have enough room to dodge the attack and prevent a mutual kill but he also left himself open to attacks from behind as Haman can use him as a "shield".).
シャアのクワトロ時代、情けなくて弱いイメージ持たれがちだけど、こんなボロボロの百式でシロッコとハマーンの追撃に耐え抜いただけでめちゃくちゃ優秀

So...they never really explained how he survived this and got away after.
Yeah, they show his suit with the cockpit open but they never show how the heck the suit survived the ship blowing up.

The animation is made in the 80s that's the reason don't complain too much ok, the suit been sandwich by ship wreck that's how he survived.

one of my favorite fight in gundam history is in the colony laser when Quattro tries to take on Haman and Scirrocco its to good man i think Quattro(Char) would have put a good fight if he also had a newtype compatible mobilesuit.
To me that's what made it so epic.
You have one of the best pilot being outclassed by better mobile suits but still put up a great fight.
Imo char is one of the best character ever created. Everything he does is compelling. You always want to see more.

百式のコクピットハッチはドアのように開くタイプなのであんなものが覆いかぶさってきたらハッチが開かないと思います。その前に脱出してたらハマーンに見つかるだろうしここで生き残れたのはご都合主義というしか…
重力下ではないので落ちてきた壁は跳ね返ってまた上の方に行くはずです。
それにサラミスが爆散したので落ちてきた壁も何処かに吹っ飛んだんじゃないですかね。
@@user-uu2eo7vh6p あれだけ損傷してて艦の爆発に巻きこまれたのにバウンドドックのように誘爆せず原型を留めてるのがクワトロ生存を示唆するためのご都合主義なんですよね。ご指摘の点ですがそれなら百式も跳ね返るんじゃないでしょうか。

ていうこのシーンは、「これなら四方からの攻撃は無理だな！、シャア」のシーンにすごく似てる。
違うのは同じ企みやのに、ハマーンはそれでもなお攻撃に成功するというところ。

有線、無線の話じゃなく、より精密なコントロールが可能になったZ時代のファンネルと、ハマーンの腕。
クワトロは最先端のファンネルを見くびったってとこじゃなないかな。
このシーン、アムロだったらどうなっていたのかと考えてしまう。ハマーンとフェンシングして欲しい。

ファンネルの射出を封じたと思ったら行動を読まれ回収しなかったファンネルに攻撃されてしまったでござる。

What's cool about this is much like Tony Stark, Char learns from this experience and in the future he will pilot a mobile suit that can equip funnels, he understands how useful it is especially in countering gundam types.

i wonder if, at this point, Tomino knew that he couldn't just kill Char off cause he'd need him for CCA or if he left his "death" ambiguous because he wasn't sure but wanted the bases covered just in case?
He was supposed to return in ZZ but then Char’s Counterattack was green lit. His only appearance in ZZ was during the opening credits

Well, apart from the plate of metal that fell on top of it, the Hyaku Shiki apparently had enough armor left for just one ship explosion before it failed.
What I want to know is, who recovered him? He sure as hell didn't float to safety on his own, he would've suffocated long before he reached any colonies or other structures...
This is covered in the zeta gundam videogame where there's a char's story cutscene leading up to CCA

Don’t forget that certain events from Side Stories also fill in a lot of lore gaps.
Such as how the Efreet Schneid even came to be.

攻撃による爆発でこれ以上、機体に損傷を与えたくなかったorバルカンが効かないもしくは効かないとクワトロが勝手に思ってたってとこではないでしょうか?キュベレイの装甲がガンダリュウム合金だった場合、頭部バルカン程度じゃ効かないのはクワトロが一番知っていると思う＋、流石にアクシズの偉い人間の機体にチタン合金とか使ってないやろーって感じで。
マハラジャ・カーン提督の愛娘。ハマーンが14歳に恋心を抱いたシャア。一緒に訓練したり交流があったものの、子供としか見てもらえず、失恋の恨みをもたれてしまうが、ハマーンもシャアを殺める気がなければ、シャアも彼女を殺す気なんて無かったんだろうよ。
今じゃキツイ顔してるが、14歳のハマーンは、ガンダムの歴史上においても、超絶可愛かった。

Have him talk Haman down through a new type link only to have some random feddies shoot her while they were still linked. It would have came full circle to Lalah's death.
