I'm from Liverpool. Most Scousers consider themselves as being from the independent republic of merseyside, cant be arsed with thar bitish shiteee like
The reason as to why we drive on the left hand side of the road is because in the pre-car days when you had to whip the horses pulling your carriage, if you drove on the right and you were right handed you'd end up whipping pedestrians on the side of the road. So that's why we drive on the left
Ah that's an interesting version. I heard that it was because (back in the days before cars) when Knights were riding their horses, they (the Knights) were right handed (of course - lefties were wrong and told as such and taught/forced to use their right hands). As such they would need to fight somebody on their right side. 2 people facing each other with the opposing person being off centre to their perceived right would put each person on their respective left sides. You know, that and whipping shit as GoldenbanjoDJ said...
Lol 'whipping shit'. Messy! I heard my fact from a London bus tour. But one thing I did question about it was the fact that all other European countries also had an 'era before cars', with knights and swords and carriages with horses to be whipped. Were all other Europeans left handed so didn't run into this issue? They all use the right hand side. I don't even think I buy my own story lol
The Romans drove on the left in Britain. Surely they drove on the left in Europe too, but no one in Europe drives on the left apart from the UK and Ireland. Confusing...
Came back to the video that got me into RUclips lol. It was in my recommended today. I remember I was looking at differences between u.s. vs brits on fb and wanted to hear more.
I am British and my god, when I went to America everyone kept on asking me if I loved tea and crumpets, I've never even eaten a bloody crumpet in my life!
I am a yankee with a lot of English decent. My ancestors decided to come the New World. I wonder if they were loyalists or patriots during the American Revolution. I like to think that they were Patriots.
in England we naturally form queues, it just happens around every event whereas I went over to America and people came to the front of the line, looked at us and walked back. I swear to god they had to put borders in so they would stay in a straight line. Also toilet bowls are a lot fuller.
I'm originally from America, I've lived there for 10 years. I have never heard anyone criticize England or English people. I live in England now, and sorry, but I hear people criticize Americans for no reason. Saying "They're fat" Yes people are overweight in America so? There is overweight people all over the world. But Ofcourse pick on America. My stepdad is from England and he doesn't like America for not absolute reason! I ask him and he just says..."I Just Don't". Why can't Mars be a livable planet. I can't be on this so called planet "Earth" anymore.
I think a lot of non Americans say they hate Americans just to say it. Truthfully, many Americans are stuck up and act like they're number 1 in everything and better than every other country. I guess they just see it as all Americans and try to find a way to pick on them. Although we do have an obesity epidemic, it would be innacurate to say "Americans are fat" because there are millions of Americans who are normal weight or underweight.
To be honest, i think it depends on where you go. I'm English myself and from American shows i have seen many English stereotypes, such as big teeth and big noses so i think the discrimination goes both ways. Personally, i have never slated Americans, nor have i heard anyone i know say anything negative about Americans and American culture. I think there are just some people out there that love to hate really and it depends on what you pick up on around you.
Ironically, in a ratio, England has almost the same amount of fat people as the US, so that's just funny that any person in the UK would be saying that, when they're in the same hole as us :).
let me clear this up for anyone ignorant in the UK: America refers to both the country and the continent. Most people here refer to it as the country. Americans aren't all fat. Calling Americans "fat" is like assuming all British people have bad teeth. It just starts a fight. Canadians play "American football" as well. It's not just a dumb sport. "Soccer" or football is very popular in the USA. Saying it's not is some weird stereotype. Stupidity is universal. Saying stupidity originated in the USA makes you stupid.
idk the thing about america that pretty much universally means united states yes Mexico and Canada are north america but you wouldn't be in the UK or anywhere and say im going to america when you talking about going to Mexico... same thing with all of south america you wouldn't go to Brazil and be like hey American... pretty much any where your at in the world that isnt mostly European whites like Asia middle east africa or south america if your white person even if your from the UK or any other European country chances are 95% of them will say your an American...
+TBEAR Tea is very important to us, we drink it to give us caffeine, but we don't eat scones unless you are down in Devon or Cornwall and having a "cream tea". We also don't eat them much because people argue over the pronunciation of scone!
I like America it's great. I'm English and I also thing England is great. Everyone needs to stop making fun of each other, it's where we are from, and that's the way we talk we can't help it. There is nothing wrong with either of the accents. Oh and America your candy is bomb af😍
You're the first person in the comments who didn't get mad that us Americans have stereotypes for British people even though they have stereotypes for us too, so thank you.
It makes more sense to say "sorry" if you didn't hear someone because "what?" is rude. In Spanish we would say 'disculpe' (excuse me) perdón (pardon) or lo siento (sorry). It's so very disrespectful to say what (¿qué?)
I honestly don't understand why Americans automatically go to the "Posh British accent" if someone asked them to describe England. We have many... MANY different accents, it's crazy. In my point of view, it's really stupid how this stereotypical view of England has become. TBH.. I have a posh accent, plainly because i live in "that region" if you'd like to put it that way, yes, i'll admit that.. but it's not the only accent in UK. Also tea.. biscuits. No. We don't "live off" them. We eat proper food as well. It's so plainly annoying when my American friends think that us UK are too obsessed with Tea and that. NO. We don't! Please open your eyes and realise that we don't just sit around every day, drinking tea with our posh accents and visiting our Queen everyday. Half of us hate her anyway. Though that's more off the topic. Now this isn't anything towards America, it's been my dream to visit its landmarks. It's beautiful and a very interesting country with potential, critical history that has changed our planet earth. But it's pretty bad, reading all these comments, where everyone is just talking about us English in this way. Update on this: Literally most of the comments are about how English people comment on Americans in the same way, unfortunately that is also the case and I don't believe it's fair that Americans and British Citizens face these stereotypes. Never once did I say that Americans are unaffected when it comes to it being the other way round, I was simply stating how many of my American friends have said the same things many times to me, I saw this video and simply stated my opinion from my experience.
The two countries are very alike.I live in Florida and we don't have a southern Accent even though its in the south. We even make fun of New Yorkers accents. Younger Americans tend to hate our own politicians and government . And I can speak for most americans, We love the UK.
Here's something I've always wondered...do you hear a giant difference between our accents? :3 Southern, Brooklyn and Western might be easy to tell apart, but what about other regions? Because we actually all have slightly different accents. There's Chicagoan, Texan, Mid-Western, Californian- a ton! I can tell when British people have slightly different accents, but they mainly just sound British- which I think sounds rich...which I guess is saying posh? Why is this a bad thing? I would love to have a British accent because it sounds higher class. We sound dumb down (is that why people mark us for being dumb elsewhere?) I just don't get it. .-.
British people do the same thing with accents. If you ask them to do an American accent they automatically do a Californian accent when in reality there are dozens of different American accents. However, Californian is what they most often hear in movies & on TV. Same goes for us. We most often hear "posh" British accents.
Ok, things are going on here. There is technically no "British" accent because Britain isn't a country. It is made up of four! Which all have hundreds of different accents! Everyone refers to Britain as England. When you say "British accent" you mean a posh "English accent". I am from Scotland and this really bugs me because everyone just thinks of England when the word "Britain" is mentioned.
Kier McGuirk Ah, yes I see what you're saying. There's not really an "American accent" either! It's just simplified. :3 We have southern, west-coast, Brooklyn, Mid-western- all very different. Actually, each state and some towns like Chicago have their own accents as well. Here in America, we just see English as the language a lot of countries speak, and "British" as the English accent. Scottish have a "Scottish accent", Irish have an "Irish accent" and so on. What you're saying is that Britain is made up of four countries, but we just call that the UK (Northern Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales) instead. We might be wrong, but we're not trying to be rude- honestly! :3
British (northern) people in America: American: "where you from?" Brit: "England" American: "so like London?" Brit: noooo... not everywhere in England is London😂
I am from Iowa in the U.S. of A. I have had this happen Britain: Brit: "Where are you from?"Me: "U.S. of A."Brit: "So you can you see the Statue of Liberty from your place?"
I find so,e American accents really cool, and as children, we try to act American a lot. Any 7 year old girl puts on an American accent when playing with her toys. I like them too but some like 'hillbilly' ( I don't know what they're called, using the Simpsons as a reference sorry) I don't like them.
0123danny3210 That's interesting because as an American, we always pretended to have British accents while playing with our toys as children. I have a British friend who LOVES my "accent" though I had never heard of it being called that. For us it's always "British accent", so "American accent" was strange to hear. But he loves listening to me talk. It's hilarious.
Most British singers sing with American accents, but personally it depends on which American Accent. Most west coast accents are ok, but east coast accents, esspecially New York accents, are really not pleasant to my ears.
I am so surprised you missed talking about renting something. This is the one I had the biggest laugh with in England. When English people have a place to rent they put up signs that say "TO LET" US/CAN we use "TO RENT" Everytime I saw a to let sign, my mind automatically was adding and "i" and seeing toilet.
It's actually the first video I've watched of Connor, like 2 years ago ^^' And it's also the first video of the RUclips thing I've seen and now I'm adicted to it ;)
Tbh it was the brits who made us coffee drinkers in the first place if you think about that tea tax Women, instead of drinking tea, would drink coffee during that time and the rest is history
Zahra Hussain as an american I find it hilarious XD when Marcus was saying how british people say urinal I DIED! It sounds so weird XD it sounds like a disease or a type of jewel
America- bro, dude, sup England- mate, chap, lad Australia- a lot of words that are not acceptable for the internet! ( ****, ****, ****, *****, ******)
Did you know there's actually a difference between a restroom and a bathroom? A restroom is supposed to have a chair or lounging couch in it, a bathroom if it's just a sink, toilet, and bathtub.
That's true. I remember at the clothes show, olivia and I was queuing for something then we left cause it was for spray tans xD but there was a massive queue so we just joined lol
queue was one of my vocab words for language arts. As my teacher was introducing the words to us, she asked if any of us knew what a queue was and said that she would be surprised if any of us knew what it was. (I am american) I only knew what it was from this video so when she asked how I knew what it was, I said it was from watching youtube. She looked at me like i had four heads that I knew this word from something that isn't school.
***** It's actually a British Colony, England haven't won or conquered much on there own. The ystruggled with france and lost to Scotland... They were conquered by Romans and Vikings.
American football is not the same as rugby... But I do agree, it's stupid that they call it football when most work is done with the hands, whilst in real FOOTball you actually use your FOOT :)
Lots of countries made their own adaption of the game football. What you guys call football is more specifically called "association football", so the word soccer comes from as[soc]iation football. Then I guess the added the "cer". There's a video on Thinkfact channel that explains much better than I can, but I hope this helps a bit.
It's Kells not true. We like queuing just as much as the british, if not more. Americans even queue better and wait longer for the person in front before we step up.
Having lived in both Britain and America, the teeth thing is definitely truth. Part of it is a cultural bias towards white teeth in the U.S. (people go for kits), but it's also the NHS won't cover basic cosmetic dentistry which is pretty regular in the U.S. Cosmetic dentistry is still available in the UK, but not widely used, again partially cultural, but largely economic. Another huge factor though is - TEA! Brits love their tea, and tea will stain the hell out of your teeth. You'd imagine coffee or soda is worse because they are darker, but that's 100% false. Tea has a lot of tannins in it, which does a number to the teeth. Really, the only thing worse than tea is red wine. This is a big factor in the whiteness gap between Americans and Brits. BTW, this is not to say Americans have "better" teeth, merely just explaining why Americans often have whiter teeth. Whether you think that's better is a cultural thing.
Lots of tooth whitening things on general sale in the us are banned in the uk and possibly the whole of the rest of Europe too such as crest strips. The government pays a portion towards peoples general dental care so they generally ban anything which is going to make the general health of their teeth worse regardless of any aesthetic considerations.
THIS IS THE VIDEO THAT GOT ME INTO RUclipsRS AND I LOVE THE FACT THAT CONNOR WAS THE FIRST EVER RUclipsR I WATCHED AND I FINALLY MET HIM LAST MONTH AHH
In Germany honking (beeping/hooting) is called hooping. I'm not sure if it's spelled this way but a German guy I know once complained of a man "hooping" at him while he was crossing the street. He impersonated it by acting like he was in a car and saying, "hoop hoop hoop hoop." I almost died of laughter.
How have you not heard of a queue! I am American and I know that, here its more of a noun, you rarely hear it. Like at an amusement park, they say the queue time is for example 40 minutes. Or to wait in a long queue.
XtremeBoy15 Speak for yourself, I use queueing all the time. Videogames often use it for waiting in queue, or you might find yourself queuing up some youtube videos. And I am American.
4:13 A little Trivia Note: When the Astronauts would jettison their pee outside into space, it would instantly freeze into thousands of little tiny reflective crystals. The Astronauts used to refer to it as "The Constellation Yoo-ri-un".
I've been both UK & US and I believe US people are way sweeter than British. Honestly British people are very sensitive when dealing with foreigners, they don't mind to assault someone just cuz he/she looks not British.. USA is not the heaven at all, it has also some ignorant people, but generally it's way better than UK. To be fair UK people are much better in terms of clothes style and UK streets and urban look way fancy than US once.
I work in America in a public place where I meet and work with people from around the world. All the British people I've met are very polite and respectful. There are good and bad people in every country and one is not better then the other we are just different.
England is not like that, we dont go round assaulting people cuz dey dont look english and we're not sensitive when it come to foreigners if u have actually been to england I would there is a wide range of ethnicity, so be quite
Lydia Constantas I'm british and I literally would not be bothered to go out to by tea, I have it stacked up at home. Also, there are actually quite a lot of starbucks but more Costa's I think
I'm sure I've heard closets called "cupboards" before (it was on a couple of episodes of Doctor Who), but I very well may be mistaken or I might've misunderstood. Maybe what I thought was a closet wasn't really.
Well, like I said: very high chance of me being mistaken. I'm American and (as much as I'm dying to) I've sadly never had the opportunity to go to the UK (or anywhere else. I've literally never been outside of New York state. :/ ) so all I have to go on is media (which we all know isn't all that reliable). But I appreciate the corrections, though. :)
***** We say fancy and want, probably 90% want. "I fancy some cake" is still used, although teenagers don't really say it. Most people DO say cupboard for where you put clothes or plates, although some say closet for clothes. We use crazy about the same as mental. Cookies for us are are what you call "Chocolate chip cookies".
I'm not an american or british but still watching idk why

"British vs American"
That's true. At the moment it's a dialect vs a country... doesn't really make sense.

that is interesting how they say crisps , but like it makes sense bc chips are crispy
***** in england chips are the name for fries.

We don't. We hear it enough on films so it's nothing really special.
Probably not lol
Never. According to my friends in the UK, they find American accents boring and just simply normal.

ALSO Americans there is no such thing as a BRITISH ACCENT it's either SCOTTISH ENGLISH IRISH OR WELSH !
Even in separate counties in one country i`m from Yorkshire and my accent is not even close to any southerners
+Jennifer Kerr True! Plus the accents within England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland vary SO MUCH. There's no one accent in the UK, by far.
I for one have, live with, experienced, viewed and engaged in an upper class accent. Think the rhythmic beauty and perfection of Stephen fry

I know what a cue is, like "oh, wait for your cue" and I've seen the word queue but I didn't know what it meant

+Alex “ap123” Palmer Big up to the Cockneys fam...
Ok seriously non of that is true
Yeah what about people from Scotland or Newcastle or York or even the Welsh they all have different accents
You don't have to whip a horse just treat them with respect and they will work beautifully.
LOL!!!
Came back to the video that got me into RUclips lol. It was in my recommended today. I remember I was looking at differences between u.s. vs brits on fb and wanted to hear more.
Someone told me that British people don't have corndogs and my reaction was.
"Wait, what? Dude, that's crazy!"
Anya Naylor Nope, but you can get a battered sausage in most chippies which is mostly the same thing...it just doesn't come on a stick!
Anya Naylor dont even know what it is really..
It's a hot dog on a stick that is covered in batter and deep fried.
Anya Naylor Battered sausage is our equivilant but I think Corndogs are less greasy.
We have sausage rolls. They're beautiful
I am British and my god, when I went to America everyone kept on asking me if I loved tea and crumpets, I've never even eaten a bloody crumpet in my life!
Crumpets bleed? Lol XD

Thumbs up if you're a Brit that doesn't eat scones, drink tea and chat to the Queen on a daily basis... we're not all like that...
No one is like that.

Wish I'm Brit... I just love like everything British...
👏👍😘 try scones and watch football then u are official ya Brit well in my prospective eh 😞
I am a yankee with a lot of English decent. My ancestors decided to come the New World. I wonder if they were loyalists or patriots during the American Revolution. I like to think that they were Patriots.
Im British and it amazing intill u watch the tv,Then u wish ur american, out tv is utter rubish tbh.
I wish I was American I love everything about Americans 😂❤️😊
Meagan Harvey
No it's not. It's far better than most American TV.
This collab was the first video I ever saw Connor Franta and I was like who is this cutie. Been a fan since that video 🥳
in England we naturally form queues, it just happens around every event whereas I went over to America and people came to the front of the line, looked at us and walked back. I swear to god they had to put borders in so they would stay in a straight line. Also toilet bowls are a lot fuller.
XequinionX well hold on I'm an American actually like queuing better that waiting in line and cubicles and how there is actually privacy
Life.In.The.Saddle the toilet door it sooo high I worry that someone is going to come in
I'm originally from America, I've lived there for 10 years.
Chloe A lol you were probably watching Family Guy or something
Ironically, in a ratio, England has almost the same amount of fat people as the US, so that's just funny that any person in the UK would be saying that, when they're in the same hole as us :).
Oh yeah, there are loads of people suffering obesity in the UK
Asking Connor if he drinks coffee is like asking humans if they need oxygen...
Hope all the people who are arguing over which is better know that Tumblr ships British people and American people. Just saying
let me clear this up for anyone ignorant in the UK:
America refers to both the country and the continent.
Good point.
I think pretty much everyone in the UK already knows everything about what you just said
Insightful. I learned absolutely nothing. Thanks
idk the thing about america that pretty much universally means united states yes Mexico and Canada are north america but you wouldn't be in the UK or anywhere and say im going to america when you talking about going to Mexico... same thing with all of south america you wouldn't go to Brazil and be like hey American... pretty much any where your at in the world that isnt mostly European whites like Asia middle east africa or south america if your white person even if your from the UK or any other European country chances are 95% of them will say your an American...
1/3 of the American population is obese .......
I couldn't stop looking at connor's smile😍
Why do Americans think we have posh, safisticated accents and we all drink tea and eat scones????
We are normal for God sake!!!
ye but the tea thing is definitely true 😂
Thank you!
I'm American, and I think the whole scone thing is BS. Could you tell me how popular tea is over there? (Don't kill me I'm ignorant)
+TBEAR Tea very popular. Scones not so much.
+TBEAR Tea is very important to us, we drink it to give us caffeine, but we don't eat scones unless you are down in Devon or Cornwall and having a "cream tea". We also don't eat them much because people argue over the pronunciation of scone!
I remember watching this very video one Saturday morning with a little hangover… but gee that's almost 10 years ago!
We don't love queueing, we just do it by instinct
OfficialNikkii So every single British person is polite? Right?
Least we are polite
Unknown_ Hacker_
nor mate we're not polite most of the time, we have some pretty offensive slang but we just say sorry a lot
Heather Easton or been to one of the more 'rough places' w a bunch of chavs that wear all adidas or nike tracksuits
ye and they go to the corner shop down near tesco that's run by an indian and costs like fifty quid for a packet of chewy
I like America it's great. I'm English and I also thing England is great. Everyone needs to stop making fun of each other, it's where we are from, and that's the way we talk we can't help it. There is nothing wrong with either of the accents. Oh and America your candy is bomb af😍
+starmoonsun k cadburys chocolate 😍😍
cheesecake 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
Our candy is shit. All our best sweets are European exports. You should get your head checked if you think Hershey's or Reese's are good
You're the first person in the comments who didn't get mad that us Americans have stereotypes for British people even though they have stereotypes for us too, so thank you.
horsey girl 123 I don't think that and I'm American lol. I also live in England.
I find it funny how Australia and Britain are so similar
I noticed that too haha and I'm American
The British just sent their people into Australia, that's why.
+Mao Zedong so was America. What's your point?
still came second and beat China though... 😂
Harmony Hayhoe because we used to own them
I just randomly remember you both existed after 5 years. Time flies.
It makes more sense to say "sorry" if you didn't hear someone because "what?" is rude. In Spanish we would say 'disculpe' (excuse me) perdón (pardon) or lo siento (sorry). It's so very disrespectful to say what (¿qué?)
Ava Bellini if I didn't hear I just say "excuse me" lol saying what is so rude
Lol i say "wtf did you say???"
Ava Bellini maybe in other countries but it’s not disrespectful in America lol. That’s just our “slang”
Ava Bellini Well, in Spain we say ‘qué’. It’s not disrespectful, just culture
Ava Bellini: in America it isn’t. Maybe in other countries, but in America it’s just a normal, everyday term.
I can't believe this is five years old....wow...and I oop
I miss this era of RUclips so much 😢
I've lived in both countries and visit both on a yearly basis but I'm much happier in Thailand, the weather is way better than in either country.
This just made me laugh, it's just so out of the blue, but I love it :)
It's like..Britain or America...? Hmm..nah Thailand!

British (northern) people in America:
American: "where you from?"
Brit: "England"
American: "so like London?"
Brit: noooo... not everywhere in England is London😂
lol I totally think that england is in London
YES OMG YES
Scarlett Overkill can you relate!? I know I can haha
Ikr!
I am from Iowa in the U.S. of A. I have had this happen Britain: Brit: "Where are you from?"Me: "U.S. of A."Brit: "So you can you see the Statue of Liberty from your place?"
A question to British people: are American accents cool in your eyes lol just wondering
I find so,e American accents really cool, and as children, we try to act American a lot. Any 7 year old girl puts on an American accent when playing with her toys. I like them too but some like 'hillbilly' ( I don't know what they're called, using the Simpsons as a reference sorry) I don't like them.
They are called southern accents :)
Some people pretend to have american accents to be cool
Most British singers sing with American accents, but personally it depends on which American Accent. Most west coast accents are ok, but east coast accents, esspecially New York accents, are really not pleasant to my ears.
I am so surprised you missed talking about renting something. This is the one I had the biggest laugh with in England.
When English people have a place to rent they put up signs that say
"TO LET"
US/CAN we use
"TO RENT"
Everytime I saw a to let sign, my mind automatically was adding and "i" and seeing toilet.
It's actually the first video I've watched of Connor, like 2 years ago ^^'
And it's also the first video of the RUclips thing I've seen and now I'm adicted to it ;)
Tbh it was the brits who made us coffee drinkers in the first place if you think about that tea tax
Women, instead of drinking tea, would drink coffee during that time
and the rest is history
They say aluminium weird
I say it Aloominum
And jaguar
Who's "they"? I say it like bagelmaster8
Logan Cain Aluminum weird.
PinkGreenPurple1990 I'm Australian, and British and Australian people say it like "Al-oo-min-ium".
As a British person I find this video hilarious 😂😂😂
Zahra Hussain you Muslims are just Arabs so stfu
Zahra Hussain ...they're also British?? that's their nationality, can you be more pathetic and uneducated?
+Joey Western are you fucking stupid?
Can't wait for all non full blooded Brits to get evicted from the UK.
Zahra Hussain as an american I find it hilarious XD when Marcus was saying how british people say urinal I DIED! It sounds so weird XD it sounds like a disease or a type of jewel
America- bro, dude, sup
England- mate, chap, lad
Australia- a lot of words that are not acceptable for the internet! ( ****, ****, ****, *****, ******)
😂😂😂😂
Did you know there's actually a difference between a restroom and a bathroom? A restroom is supposed to have a chair or lounging couch in it, a bathroom if it's just a sink, toilet, and bathtub.
Yes we love to Queue. We are known for it. If there is a queue we will join it even if we don't know what it's for
That's true. I remember at the clothes show, olivia and I was queuing for something then we left cause it was for spray tans xD but there was a massive queue so we just joined lol
Ikr lol
But if there is a big queue then we'll just join in haha
I'm pretty sure me and amelia queued for something u and Nicole was getting lol
Lol probably xD and I used to queue with you in school
are you lovers ?
queue was one of my vocab words for language arts.
I love England. My favorite American colony.
I kinda thought everyone would be able to tell.
***** Thanks, captain obvious.
***** I think it was pretty obvious qq
HAVE I FOUND ANOTHER HETALIA FAN OMFG
DO I SMELL USUK
***** It's actually a British Colony, England haven't won or conquered much on there own. The ystruggled with france and lost to Scotland... They were conquered by Romans and Vikings.
In the UK they have MoonBucks which sells tea instead of Starbucks which sells coffee.
Before I get hate on this, its a joke.
Lol i love this
Oh, I thought it was a place that sold cheese from the moon :(
+Jaaamm XDD
+Maddie Corby Yeah, I'm in the Uk and it's a MASSIVE company. There's one right down the road!
Starbucks sells tea lmao
From a non-native-english speaker.
Wouldnt British vs American or Britain vs America be more accurate?
Yes. I didn't even see that mistake on their title until you mentioned it.
Keen observer! Good eyes! Im a non native speaker,,
I'm American but I drink SOOO much tea its crazy. I'm literally going to have tea overdose lol. I also call it a toilet I hate restroom
Ahahahah little New Zealand over here..... We follow the British in most of this, but have our own slang too...
Nah you guys are basically Australia
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAH good one
No, we really are not.
You guys aren't Australian, you guys down there hate each other, right?
haha, I know right?
I get confused why British store clerks say "Thank you.", when the customer is who says it here in the U.S.
Robert Hamman where i live getting a thank you from a clerk or costumer is like preforming a triple backflip hard
Robert Hamman they thank you for buying their product i think but both people normally say it
+Robert Hamman (Hammaneggs) I work in a grocery store in the US and we're required to say thank you to the customers
What is a store clerk?
+Robert Hamman (Hammaneggs) im british and i dont even understand y they say it
I am British and I don't understand why American's call football soccer but they call rugby football like you don't use your foot
American football is not the same as rugby... But I do agree, it's stupid that they call it football when most work is done with the hands, whilst in real FOOTball you actually use your FOOT :)
HANDball
Haha none of us understand it either!
Honestly I think it sounds better as football but we have just adapted from other ppl calling in soccer
Lots of countries made their own adaption of the game football. What you guys call football is more specifically called "association football", so the word soccer comes from as[soc]iation football. Then I guess the added the "cer". There's a video on Thinkfact channel that explains much better than I can, but I hope this helps a bit.
"A lot of Brits have really bad teeth"
*instantly thinks of Jeremy Kyle*
😂😂😂😂
exactly
Lol!!!

So true
i'm canadian and i don't drink coffee, just tea. An we also say sorry a lot but in a different way. I love the uk :) i would love to live there :)
Im australian and we love tea and say sorry in a log of different ways too but mostly say "huh?"
XD id love to go to the uk
It's Kells I am told that Americans love to queue
We hate to queue, lol, well I do anyway
It's Kells not true. We like queuing just as much as the british, if not more. Americans even queue better and wait longer for the person in front before we step up.
Merica!
We hate queuing we just do it cos we have to
looking back on this 5 years later. idk why i’m crying in the club rn
I only recognized a lot of these terms because of one direction
me tbh
same
same
so true
accurate
to think 3 years later Connor has his ear pierced. our little man has grown up.
aariell James Yup
I'm English but I actually don't like tea at all, neither does my brother or my mother but my Father has one once in a while.
Evilnicko im English and i dont like tea or coffee :)
Sophie K
Heh I don't like coffee either but I like hot chocolate :D
And you call yourselves English? Shame on you. haha
LMBO! LOL! Omg that is hilarious!
If someone cares :D, I am german and its "hupen" xD
Thanks for the info Emelie.
How have you not heard of a queue! I am American and I know that, here its more of a noun, you rarely hear it. Like at an amusement park, they say the queue time is for example 40 minutes. Or to wait in a long queue.
We use queue as a noun, but no American practices/uses 'queueing' or whatever. It has never been a verb.
XtremeBoy15 Speak for yourself, I use queueing all the time. Videogames often use it for waiting in queue, or you might find yourself queuing up some youtube videos. And I am American.
What state are you guys from because in Illinois I never saw it anywhere or heard it anywhere. No line says queue here.

To be fair UK people are much better in terms of clothes style and UK streets and urban look way fancy than US once.
shut the fuck up
Neville Scarlett lel u mad or nah ?
I work in America in a public place where I meet and work with people from around the world. All the British people I've met are very polite and respectful. There are good and bad people in every country and one is not better then the other we are just different.
Everything you've stated is based off of opinion.
England is not like that, we dont go round assaulting people cuz dey dont look english and we're not sensitive when it come to foreigners if u have actually been to england I would there is a wide range of ethnicity, so be quite
Americans have more Starbucks. We (the UK) have cafe Nero and places like that that sell tea!!
Most of us don't go out for a cuppa
Lydia Constantas I'm british and I literally would not be bothered to go out to by tea, I have it stacked up at home. Also, there are actually quite a lot of starbucks but more Costa's I think
yaz burkin Yea I just realised that when I read my comment again :3
I never go out to buy tea. I just bu some PG Tips and have it every afternoon. Yh more Costa's than Starbucks tho.
Hatiah Begum I
you know sometimes i think australians are more like americans then british...
It depends on things, I am Australian
We drive on the left side of the road

I'm Australian but I thought we were more like the Brittish :|
Depends Australians remind me of people in Florida.
+Jakalz how?? Haha

Before he came out.....
A few things I've noticed: American vs. British
Cookies vs. Biscuits
Closets vs. Cupboards
Crazy vs. Mental
Want vs. Fancy
Well We use both of each of those terms in England but you got cupboard mixed up with wardrobe.
I'm sure I've heard closets called "cupboards" before (it was on a couple of episodes of Doctor Who), but I very well may be mistaken or I might've misunderstood. Maybe what I thought was a closet wasn't really.
Yeah we actually use all of those terms just for different things
Well, like I said: very high chance of me being mistaken. I'm American and (as much as I'm dying to) I've sadly never had the opportunity to go to the UK (or anywhere else. I've literally never been outside of New York state. :/ ) so all I have to go on is media (which we all know isn't all that reliable). But I appreciate the corrections, though. :)
*****
We say fancy and want, probably 90% want. "I fancy some cake" is still used, although teenagers don't really say it. Most people DO say cupboard for where you put clothes or plates, although some say closet for clothes. We use crazy about the same as mental. Cookies for us are are what you call "Chocolate chip cookies".
