Hey Jingles. Thanks for the entertainment man. Been going through a rough patch and being able to sit down with some top notch content from good blokes like you makes things a lot more bearable. Thanks man. Keep it up.
Actually Jingles, at the time the Akatsuki was having to decide whether to go west or at Charlie or keep the WV spotted, he had an Atago turning possibly towards Charlie or Alpha. He keeps the WV spotted until it is sunk then immediately turns South for Charlie - part of that decision might have had to do with the CV just outside Alpha and the Atago which decided to go Alpha as well. It was while he was heading into Charlie he had to go afk. Basically, he was playing "try not to be spotted" and definitely "try not to spotted by the Atago."
The Akatsuki was definitely thinking he ought to keep the WV spotted. Conceal on that with a captain skill is just over 13k, and the other ship in a position to spot it at that range, the Rochester, is behind the island. Part of Jingles charm is the inane commentary where his situational awareness or lack thereof is on full display :P The attempt to justify it because he's "The Expert", equally inane :P
Fully agree. And when he came back he didn't feel safe enough to go for A or B and went for D instead. He had no idea where the ships close to A and B were and there was still the CV in play so that was taking the safe route. Which esp. when you've been missing much of what was going on, seems like a good idea. Edit: Also the Akatsuki is somewhat pedestrian when it comes to DDs.
Yep. A bad DD player in the Akatsuki's position would have turned and gone straight for the cap and left the WV unspotted on the flank to broadside all the friendly BBs that tried to follow it west. That is what 90% of DD players on the asia server would have done, and (arrr) it drives me nuts.
The Akatsuki seems to me like they're trying to be 'present' after being AFK for half the game. By being close to the team they are directly visible and can say "look, I'm here now and helping, I wasn't AFK to grief the team", which is understandable. And earlier in the game they were trying to get out front and spot, so I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and say it was enthusiastic efforts to make amends for being AFK. Well played from Bemse, a deserved win.
I think Jingles is new here. Commentary seems to suggest that Jingles thinks WOWS is a team game where people play for the benefit of the team. I wouldn't be surprised if the dd was doing a damage from spotting mission.
It's probably reasonable to assume the Akatsuki had half their mind on the storm and their roof, through the whole game. Unable to focus enough to find a good compromise between point capture strategy and staying undetected... they knew when to use their guns, they were always trying to accomplish _something,_ and didn't complain about the rest of the team or insult them. All positive signs.
_"To be completely fair, they do have to go AFK at one point due to matters outside of their control. Unfortunately, they're not an awful lot of use to the team alive even when they're present at the keyboard."_ Just one of the many reasons I watch Jingles. 😆
I don't think the Akatsuki misplayed by going south. at the time they returned A and B were covered by the Lexington and the most visible enemies charging 2 low hp BBs in D. if they went A Rochester resets would've prevented them from capping anyway, B would've called for rocketstrikes and prolly get the Akatsuki sunk. if they went for the CV, we'd be laughing at that.
This.. I swear, DD players can't do anything right nowadays. I think its partly because people expect them to do what they did 5 years ago (pushing, early capping, spotting/engaging other DD's).. but that's just suicide now, given so many CV's/hybrids, Radar and Subs. Often the best DD plays are to simply survive the first half of the game (with a bit of spotting thrown in) so you can add value later.
Fully agree. Also him making sure the WV was being kept spotted wasn't a mistake IMHO. Maybe unnecessary but not a bad idea and he almost made it into C. And the Akatsuki is somewhat slow.
Looks like the Atkatsuki was trying to keep the WV spotted to get him finished off before he moved south to the Caps. Went AFK while going south, and when he came back went to D to avoid the carrier and Atago which was def the safer option. Thats the problem with DDs you can never win/do everything at once lol
It´s really remarkable how far away you can sink a ship and it still counts as "Close Quarters" LOL Yes i get it, it´s because secondaries are considered close range weapons relative to the main guns, but still. It´s just pure irony to call a 10+ kilometer kill "Close Quarters".
According to actual WW2 engagement distances, the entire game would be "close quarters." Drachinifel has a video about it. "5 myths of...." iirc. In it, he _shows_ what real engagement distances would be, and how big ships would look. (and once you see that, you get a lot more respect for the people manning and designing those mechanical computers, as well as realizing this game is a total arcade)
Speaking of the USS Massachusetts, I had the honor of visiting the ship a couple of weeks ago. Despite being the most compact class of American fast battleships, she was still pretty big. Her hull was in beautiful condition. The superstructure on the other hand was rough around the edges. It was really amazing walking around inside one of the turrets. They did the right thing by preserving her for future generations to learn about her and the other battleships saved.
@@thetanwon Nice. Prior to Massachusetts, I visited USS New Jersey back in June of 2021. Getting a perspective on two different battleships is invigorating. My next battleship to visit will be the USS Missouri, which I'm more than excited to see in person.
In his defense, Akat probably didn't go for A because of the nearness of the CV, which drove a Rochester out of the cap. Can't say I blame him if that's what he was thinking. IJN DDs aren't known for their "excellent AA" and the CV just pushed a US cruiser OUT of the cap. Maybe his decisions were wiser than you're giving credit for.
I think the Atkasuki was trying to spot in the beginning. If you aren’t really good and you’re in a torp DD, then some times it’s more helpful to go wide and spot for everyone else then go into the cap and die. 🤷♂️
Yeah you are absolutely right about the destroyer player and how he could have done better but you also have to take into account the decisions were made while he was still psychologically locked in to his house flooding. I wouldn't be all there either playing a game with that thought stuck in my mind. Glad you did explain it and bring up the fact that he'd just come back after handling that arguably infinitely more important flooding problem. Great video jingles!
I've been binging on Ipiranga for the past 3 weeks, enjoying her significant secondary prowess. So yesterday I decided to take out my Massie for a taste of what my all time favorite T8 BB was up to these days. 165k, 3 kills, 1.9k xp, a W and top spot on the team reminded me of just how damn good Massie really is.
Experience is not the best teacher, contrary to popular opinion. Its good, but it's not the best. Other people's experience is the best teacher - IFF you're willing to listen. Jingles, you keep doing what you're doing, please!
I'd say the Tirpitz was probably the first premium made so secondaries and brawling could be fun, it just sucks that it's secondaries explode if you look at them and it's torps will detonate of their own accord in their launchers if a shell hits vaguely in their general vicinity.
It's not just Jingles going on about decisions, but also what the comments have to say in response about those claims. First steps of a discussion already done.
The Massie has been one of my favorite ships ever since it came out. Sure, it's not the greatest T8 battleship, it's still one of the most fun. Watching destroyers melt like chocolate on a sunny day never gets old.
Massa and Alabama were actually considered ‘fast BB’s’ for their time, as was the North Carolina class. Then the new breed of fast fleet carriers came along and with them the Iowa class which could do 34+ knots.
The differences between Legends and PC WoWS never ceases to amaze me. Perfect examples are the Mass and Kansas. In Legends the Mass is pretty good with the secondaries but nothing to write home about and the Kansas is a monster. But on PC the Mass is a secondary monster and the Kansas is apparently incapable of hitting the broadside of a barn from the inside.
The nasty thing about the Haven map is that once you get to the central cap circles, any enemy ships in the center aren't stuck in there with you, you're stuck in there with _them._ I like to think someone who plays like the Akasuki, in a situation like that, was probably preoccupied to some degree for the whole battle, before and after being AFK. Some people are suggesting the Akatsuki was trying to play a spotting game and avoid enemy cruisers, this is probably also valid, and at least helps explain the bad strategic choices. Note that while Bemse makes excellent targeting choices, they're reluctant to switch to HE, no matter the situation. I remember that feeling well. Switching ammo types can feel like getting banned for up to 60 seconds when you're in a battleship, and one never knows how long a juicy broadside target is gonna be available for!
In the beginning of the game Akatsuki was the one who kept the WV spotted in the first place, so if he would disengage and go for the cap, chances are the WV would have gone undetected.
Then again, anyone from the team could have suggested the Atkasuki flip one of the caps when he came back to the keyboard, so let's give them credit too.

The Akatsuki's reasoning wasn't that bad. At the time of his return D was being attacked by 4/5 ships, and only had 2 defending it, one of them a BB at 7k hp. It was quite likely that the enemy would win and he'd be there to torp them. Of course, Jingles watching this already knows Bemse is going to kill all the enemies, but the Akatsuki didn't know that.
Once in 1 vs 1 brawl mode I had the Massachusetts and the other guy had the Bismarck. We agreed just to use just secondaries. I won by just about 3k left.
Would think some players in this video are from Sweden and Denmark, Bemse would be a dan and FoldLundgren swede. The partner in Bemses team is def dane.

I'd forgive the Aki. He gets back knowing nothing about the positions of the enemy, sees three to the south and goes south. The Kansas does the exact same thing without missing half the fight, but at 20-ish knots. Kansas should have pushed into B to try to get cross shots on the action at D if they ever decided to stop giving broadside to a Mass and who knows... maybe help the Rochester with the carrier.
Hey Jingles have you seen the RN you tube videos on HMS Raleigh? It’s from my generation (‘80s). There are actually 2 one on male and one on female (WRENs)
Definitely too harsh on the Akatsuki. Keeping the WV spotted meant that his team was able to kill him, instead of allowing him to break contact and recover health, which is what would have happened if he had gone into the cap immediately. Also, if he had gone into the Cap with Bemse, then he would have been under attack by the CV. And if you're in a dd and a CV spots you, then you know that they aren't going to stop coming until they've put you to the bottom. Going off and solo-capping A is much more risky with the CV in play. The Rochester tried it and got killed by the CV. The same thing would have happened to the Akatsuki had they been around to try it. Going for C was the safer play, move around with your allies while you figure out what has been happening while you were away. It was also where the most fighting was taking place, and if Bemse had gotten killed, his teammates would likely have needed his help to deal with the remaining forces. Considering the AFK, his coming in the middle of the pack of his team indicates his performance was actually respectable, and definitely not at the level of "Not much use to their team when they are at the keyboard." Compare the performance of the Akatsuki with the Saipan, who, despite being a carrier and having complete knowledge of the movements of the enemy west fleet moving towards him, did nothing but steam from one island to another, instead of going at full speed to the North into the area that his team mates had cleared. You would think that a dd being in the cap circle next to you would make a CV reconsider their position, but not this guy! You could have spent the game commenting on the surprising choices of the Saipan, but instead picked on the DD with a legitimate reason to be AFK. Very questionable!
Ok jingles, there is such thing as radar. And thats how the dds in smokes get spotted. Both of the enemy dds. With the chapayev radar. Watch the chat my dude. Love you
The allied Akatsuki is clearly either new to the game or doesn't have ability to learn and refine gameplay. Sad to see cap sitting there ready to be captured and he is chasing a BB in the distance while a BB heads into the cap. face palm. The Akatsuki represents a sizeable portion of the player base unfortunately. Then at time stamp 16:20 he drives through but does not cap B. Does he have any idea how to play this game?
Running into an island ... is that still called a Notzer? ( Been a while since I heard that phrase, nor seen a video with said player, so my spelling may be off )
I cant spell the name, but that new BB with 12, 14 inch guns, only has 18 secondaries. But it also has secondaries That can get out to 11.5km. I also have the Mass, mine is Black and I got it in a gift box. It is a good ship.
@@battleship6177 Yep, that one. If you spec it for secondaries, and then learn how to use the funny button. The thing is a beast, not to mention the 12, 14 inch guns. I like the boat.
@longrider42 well yeah, all the South American BBs are quite OP atm, they have insane acceleration, insane turning circle, great secondaries, and good enough and great amount of guns
Jingles slams the Kansas (the ship, not the player) at the end of the match. I think it's fair - the Kansas is in my list of ships that aren't fun too. But I thought the Kansas was kindof an outlier. The Minnesota is a reasonable ship and the Colorado... Well, as long as the match comes to you, Colorado is a good ship.

Considering the AFK, his coming in the middle of the pack of his team indicates his performance was actually respectable, and definitely not at the level of "Not much use to their team when they are at the keyboard."
Compare the performance of the Akatsuki with the Saipan, who, despite being a carrier and having complete knowledge of the movements of the enemy west fleet moving towards him, did nothing but steam from one island to another, instead of going at full speed to the North into the area that his team mates had cleared. You would think that a dd being in the cap circle next to you would make a CV reconsider their position, but not this guy!
You could have spent the game commenting on the surprising choices of the Saipan, but instead picked on the DD with a legitimate reason to be AFK. Very questionable!
so we're just going to ignore that bouy phasing through the ship at the start of the match?
I've played with that player in the Akatsuki before, she always plays in an absent minded way
Ok jingles, there is such thing as radar. And thats how the dds in smokes get spotted. Both of the enemy dds. With the chapayev radar. Watch the chat my dude. Love you
".. armed with nine 16-inch *rifles* .."
Uhm, rifles you say. I guess it could be naval slang, but it sounded a bit funny. xD
As was pointed out in another comment, Naval guns are rifled. And it's quite common to call describe the guns on ships that way.
good one
The allied Akatsuki is clearly either new to the game or doesn't have ability to learn and refine gameplay. Sad to see cap sitting there ready to be captured and he is chasing a BB in the distance while a BB heads into the cap. face palm. The Akatsuki represents a sizeable portion of the player base unfortunately.
Then at time stamp 16:20 he drives through but does not cap B. Does he have any idea how to play this game?
Running into an island ... is that still called a Notzer? ( Been a while since I heard that phrase, nor seen a video with said player, so my spelling may be off )
West Virginia should be referred to as the Mountain Mama
Wow. Took 6 mins before he scored any main gun damage.
How does a carrier lunch directly into a mountain?
I cant spell the name, but that new BB with 12, 14 inch guns, only has 18 secondaries. But it also has secondaries That can get out to 11.5km. I also have the Mass, mine is Black and I got it in a gift box. It is a good ship.
Ipiranga?
@@battleship6177 Yep, that one. If you spec it for secondaries, and then learn how to use the funny button. The thing is a beast, not to mention the 12, 14 inch guns. I like the boat.
@longrider42 well yeah, all the South American BBs are quite OP atm, they have insane acceleration, insane turning circle, great secondaries, and good enough and great amount of guns
@@battleship6177 Well lets hope the nerfing does not happen for awhile. And yes she sure can Dance. Not the fastest, but I've dodged many a torpedo.
@longrider42 I'm praying for the nerfs to be sooner, so fricken toxic it's not funny and sad to play as.

2:25 As an old Idiot with some small amount of retiree disposable income, Where do i 'NOT GRIND' and use my wallet to get the Massachusetts?
Black Friday
Were you at CItizenCon over the weekend? I could have sworn you were two rows in front of me.
11.5 might be max for Mass. Preussien got 12.5 max. And it's glorious.
No way Massachusetts started the secondary trend.
It did come in and take away the one thing the German BBs could do though.
