Honestly so glad they brought back the Chang triplets, and changed them from being the stereotypical AAPI kids who are always studious with strict parents forcing them to study every second
I saw a lot of people asking them to address this when the reboot started so glad they learned and listened bc it was so tough watching their scenes in the original 💀 like ah yes 3 somehow identical fraternal triplets who study do karate and are occasionally drawn with painful to look at buck teeth
OR~ it could've been a Zoey-focused episode where we see colorism in the eyes of "the victim". (All we got was Maya stiring up rumors about Noah, the group being jelly af and Penny, not acting like her usual self mind you, diffusing the situation improperly and just giving bystander energy)
I didn’t like the colorism episode . When the new teen celebrity transfer student asked Zoe to the dance they immediately assumed it must be cause she was white and nothing else. They were mad at her and insulted her because in their group she’s the ugly duckling and there’s no way a dude would pick her and pass them up. It couldn’t possibly just be that the celebrity dude stated he wanted a normal life and the moment he got into the school everyone in the group but zoe was all up over him. A clear reason he might like her .And yeah it did come out that he only supposedly liked her because she was white but they never showed anything. All we heard was rumors . And they didn’t invite her to the princess event either
They could’ve showed a great example for women sticking together, allyship and a discussion on how having your entire race from someone’s dating pool makes young black girls feel bad, plus stereotypes colorism etc etc but instead we got backstabbing and toxicity 🤦🏽♀️ it would be one thing if they tried to explain things with Zoey and she ignored them but they didn’t try at all. But they didn’t. Un-inviting her was was unwarranted and it’s such a shame they somehow turned such a complex and important issue into something so stupid. We could’ve had the girls ask the guy if it was true and see why he refuses to date women of color and try to process the logic. Or have Zoey have to hear him admit to only dating white girls and seeing how that made her feel (fetishized, objectified, insecure, weirded out) But no 😐 the writers thought having girls (and Michael) fight over a guy was much important for young viewers. The end message was the only good thing from that episode but how we got there smh
@@hhh1234h Sorry, didn’t mean to come across as a smart Alec. Penny definitely got to find better friends. Lacienega was on sight for Penny since day 1, Dijonay would backstab freely, Zoey was a follower that would flake on Penny at a possible opportunity.
Not to mention they made the dating white confession off screen 🙄 ANY dude would absolutely lie about it because they're after the girl, they'd never admit that. I'd much rather have a simplistic plot like maybe they're babysitting a white kid from fuckin Wyoming or wherever whose never seen a black person and dislikes their skin. We could've seen an explanation as to why that's bad. But no we got some underbaked storyline that has nothing to do with actual colorism, just toxic preferences.
So much toxicity, Penny and Dijonay who both have awesome boyfriends dumping them because Noah is famous and *ahem* light skinned with light eyes, Lacienega tells Zoey outright she's a reject and can only get attention from rejects, Maya is spreading rumors around and being a crap-stirrer then claiming 'I don't like drama', and Michael is a beta bitch who is just there high fiving the mean girls cause he has no character this episode, oh, and they made him Native American for no reason.
I thought I was the only one who felt as always being gaslighted and manipulated and guilt tripped in the colorism episode, and I did not think anyone else felt the way I was feeling when I seen the episode because as soon as I seen it when I tell you that ending, I was not satisfied, and this could’ve went so much deeper than it did in a try to Just make me in a comfortable with anything, because it felt as though it was really being gaslighted the whole entire time and we never got a confirmation. If he didn’t like white girls, he said, she said, rumor assumption by Mya‘s cousin it was never said on camera, nor they even go to him to ask and it was just so ridiculous and he still disgusting to see them Especially Mya and Penny go against Zoe like they did when they are like we want change we want equality no one’s different or whatever type of message they try to have the characters say in the original net and the reboot it’s just it was just so disgusting to see them basically gaslighting RUclips Zoe is not dating this guy because I have an alleged rumor that wasn’t proven and they couldn’t except that I guy might actually like Zoe thinking that she has the only star for the nerdy guys a.k.a. Byron, but that one guy in the reboot in the in the original who do you like Zoe? They literally changed her into Bing something she’s not actually end up not dating him or whatever.
The fact that Noah didn’t appear much made me mad. We need him dragged more in the next season and this topic revisited. People say they thought he was a DL too. I would love a DL episode next season too.

I literally heard her voice from one from how she said it saying oh Zoey you just don’t get it. She went after Hakeem because he did not like him like that all because of her parents and because she saw him in the way and was Getting over it but what I’m trying to say is Mya Penny hell even Michael in Lafayette Meijer pacifically, because Hispanic Mexican, Latina skinny, Zoe skinny white girl, Michael Jai, white gay, black, male skinny and what’s my dark skin skinny character they are that episode open to meet open a lot of more eyes on how much colorism and so-called preference and rumors start at a young age at death, and that middle school age how deeply rooted Certain rumors could hurt and talk have a one on one talk about that DY girls only said that he admitted it to her to make them feel better because she didn’t want them to feel bad because in my head she thinks oh anymore and I can’t get a guy like him that actor I forgot his name the actor character in the episode I can get a guy like that. I had to always get the nerdy guys, and that was always the case for Zoe in the in the original she got the guys only because she was acting like someone else and not herself and they looked at her differently because guys preferred her to change her episode. Does San Fran talked a lot of mess about Zoe behind her back and open arms how to open arms make up after she apologize to them for them basically fighting her into believing what Mya cousin said was true when it wasn’t confirmed and you could tell her you could tell that Penny sorta didn’t want to say something, but at the same time she didn’t want to go against our friends, her other friends, because she didn’t want to seem like she’s picking Zoe side, but in deep down, I know she feel that they are trying to, but they’re kind of both proving a point, but at the same time not hearing each other out because it all started because of a rumor that Mya allegedly said from her that you had a cousin say and honestly I feel and also Oscar could’ve actually had a conversation with Penny, her friends and Zoe about colorism and just that aspect he had a deeper conversation about it
Thanks for bringing up criticism to the colourism episode. It was so poorly done, and I fear kids take the message that it’s okay to treat their friends awful if the friend is suspected to … umm … be *associated* with something bad.
