This sounds obvious now, with all the poor solar production in the Winter, it just makes the most sense to have a 300 watt panel. During the Summer, just having the 100 watt panel might be all that's needed.
I think you learned what Germany also learned. It is not as sunny as Spain, but having more panels can squeeze more power from the cloudy days. I heard they lead the World for solar power production as a percentage of their power needs.
On sunny days in the summer when the days are long with a clear view of the sky 100 watts is all that is needed. Now I am getting about 9.5 to 10 hours of sun. I camp in any weather including days that produce no shadows in rain under dense forest where little light enters. So I need the extra solar power to gather every bit of sun in those conditions. So far for my conditions it is working. 100 watts on a sunny day may need 600 watts under those conditions. I will be doing more research. With 600 watts I should be fine in moonlight! My 200w dokio red trim is faded and broken, exposing the edges of the panel. Also there are a few faded areas on the panel present. Still produces decent energy, but you need to be careful not to scratch and to protect it. I do not used it frequently, so is a little disappointment. That's why I am not buying the 300.

I believe the light on the charge controller is for any load, lights would probably be the most common, but I'd imagine you could use a fan or something like that as well. Have the panels held up well up to now?
They nylon cover has worn. For instance I stand the panels on edge in the garage and sometimes when camping. This has led to the edge stitching fraying. Each panel has 2 cloth handle loops. If you pick it up by one loop it will rip the stitching. If you use both loops it will not rip the stitching. Their are D rigs to hang it. If you do not put hooks for each ring it will pull them out. I am very satisfied. This is one of the lowest cost per watt panels you can buy at 300 watts. It performs above its class bit needs love to last. Both panels are generating power fine. I am happy with the purchase. If you want a top quality 200 watt folding panel you can get a Jackery Solar Saga panel for $700 each (that is $3.50 a watt). Dokio 300 watt panel sells for $380 now with controller and connectors. That is $1.27 a watt. If you want $3.50 watt construction for $1.27 a watt you will not be happy. You may have checked out my video on this panel from Dec 2019 "Portable Solar Panel Showdown | Jackery Solarsaga 100w vs Dokio 320w with the Jackery Explorer 500" - it's good to see you testing it with the Jackery 100 and it only produced around 16Watt (I think some of my viewers questioned my critique of the Jackery 100's poor performance - especially in cloudy and cold conditions)

I agree with your viewers and disagree with you. You are interpreting my video incorrectly.
1) No solar panel puts out full power in less than full sun
2) A 300 watt quality panel should put our more power than a 100 watt panel. Where is the mystery?
3) A Jackery has to be almost complementary empty to accept 100 watts from the panel. As you may have notices it accepts full charge when empty and tapers down to only a few watts accepted at the end of the charge. The solar panel is not pushing the power into the panel. The battery is accepting the charge. You can see this on you phone too with a monitor.
4) Use a meter on a dead short to measure the power in full sun into a dummy load and you will see 100 watts. I have done this many times. Thank You for watching. Check my other videos ruclips.net/user/cosmoweemsvideos

Hi SMJ, So far mine are holding up well. These panels are temporary panels great for travel etc. I dot think they would hold up to every day use such a mounted on a roof etc. Good luck and if can help - let me know =Cosmo

Hello! I love my Dokio panels. They are truly what I needed to keep my electrical topped off. I have 2 of them now for 600 watts generating capability. Great match for large Jackery's I dont think they are good for permanent installation when exposed to day after day sun. The nylon is not a good choice for that in my opinion. But for what I am doing they are PERFECT! Regards =Cosmo

Hello. I do not know about parallel. Check with Dokio they are very helpful. I have tested them at 11AM here in New Jersey at 280 watts. I was not at the equator! My experience has been good with them. You have to be realistic - this is a dollar a watt. A Jackery 200 watt panel will cost you $3.50 a watt but is more durable. Great review ! I dont know anything about Solar panels and stuff so i have a question about these 300w panles you got there. I've read that the Jackery 500 can only accept 100W of Solar power and you hook up this 300W bad boy. What happens if it's realy sunny and they produce more than 100W of power? Does this destroy my Jackery :D?! Sorry if this sounds dumb but i have absolutely no clue about this.

Hello! Its a good question. The Jackery controller throttles how much power goes into the batteries so they are not damaged. I called Jackery about this question they told me they could accept up to 600 watts without damage the excess is shunted back to the panel to prevent damage. Yeah, they must have changed that cable since I bought my Dokio. All of the Anderson connectors are male on my cables so I can't patch it through to my Jackery. I'd have to buy a different cable. SAE to 8mm. I'm glad you like your new panel. I love mine. I'll probably just use those D rings as anchor points rather than trying to hang the panel with them. I can lean it up against my rig (for winter sun) and string rope from the roof rack to the rings to keep it upright. It kept falling over in the high winds in Idaho because I didn't do that. I ended up just laying it on the ground.

Thanks Zack. Keep in mind the connectors. This solar panel comes with connectors that fit the Jackery. I dont know what kind of connectors you will need for the Leoch. It would be good to know in advance. Dokio is a cheap alt to jackery panels when a 100watt panel is almost same price for 300watt..... Don't see much of a need here since I already have 3 100watt jackery panels, 2 for jack1000 and spare for charging renogy packs etc etc directly......

Circumstances. I have done it but not recorded it. I have a lot going on when camping. I prefer to keep batteries topped off all the time if I can. great video, there isnt that many videos about this specific unit, so i have watched them all about 3 times each. i got tired of not having one so i pulled the trigger today. if i am happy with it i will buy another and wire it in series and run it to a mppt controller. i think pwm wastes a few volts and a few volts times 10-18 amps can equal 20-40 watts continous. i'm waiting to hear from dokio on weather i can connect 10 panels in series. on amazon it says they are rated for 600vdc. 600vdc/21.5 (ocv) = 27.9 "300 watt" kits lol. i only want to do maybe 4 kits in series for now, which according to my math will me 64volts x 16 amps = 1kw, that is going to be 14.4 x 71 amps = 1024 watts into my battery bank.

@@CosmoWeems yeah, it says right on amazons site that these are not to even be left out side for one night lol. my application is two fold, 1 learn, 2 have a way to charge my battery bank for emergencies at home or where ever. i dont have a privacy fence just yet and my neighbors would steal these in a heart beat. when i am done testing for a day or two they will come right back inside indefinitely. on a side note, i saw a video or two where a couple of guys left them out in the arizona sun day and night for 2-3 months and they still perform well.....and another guy left his outside for over a year....supposedly
i recived my 300 watt panel friday, ordered from amazon, it was opened and the box was badly damaged. also, the panel it self was dirty and scuffed up. amazon said they will send a new unit and gave me $30 credit. the pwm charge controller that comes with it does not have a profile for agm batteries from what i can see and its max voltage leaving the included pwm controller is only 13.4 volts instead of 14.4v. i placed it in the bright completely clear 2pm sun and only got about 110.4 watts max. sure my back yard has about 2 feet of snow and i just set the panel up in the snow so hopefully that is why i got so little power. i built a stand for it and will test again in the next few days. i also ordered 2 more, just incase the used one amazon sent me has a problem. i also ordered some regular glass panels to compare with. as much as it sucks, i can deal with 60% of rated capacity but i cant deal with 30%. i so want to like these panels, i hope i can do better than 30% when the panel is laying/sitting in snow. besides they are expensive, i could have got four 100 watt glass panels that will produce 100 watts for the price of this $340 100 watt panel, sure glass is heavier though.

How are you testing? For instance some devices will only let a certain amount of watts into the unit. The controller can limit how many watts the battery accepts. The advantage is in less that full sun a the 300 watt panel will do much better than a 100 watt panel. To test the output of the panel you use a meter in line with no battery. I hope this makes sense, =Cosmo

Thank you for your comparison. I am new to solar and trying to get the right components for my work shop with nor electric and light off grid camping. I just purchased a Lijueky Power Station and a 200 watt Dokio solar panel. How do I know if I am getting maximum power. When I connect my solar panel to the power station on a clear day with very little haze, i am only getting 30 watt of charge. Does that sound normal. Jackery will only absorb what it needs. If you charge it empty it accepts more watts than full. As it charges the wattage goes down the final period of the charge it will only be accepting about several watts. Each jackery also has a limit of how many watts it will accept - cap. Thats not bad news. In cloudy weather the Dokio puts out more wattage than the Jackery panel meaning you will get more power into your jackery on a cloudy day with Dokio. Thank You for watching. On a cloudless sky full sun noon 285 watts on one panel 265 on the other. I am sure if I went to the equator I cold squeeze out 300. BTW most people are testing their panels incorrectly. You test a panel into a meter ONLY not connected in line to a battery. Did your Dokio panel come with a female XT60 cable? I just received a Dokio kit from ebay that didn't have a female XT60 included.

Did you face any issues with Jackery 500 charging with this panel? In the video you’re only showing it in the cloudy conditions, but is there any maximum power, which Jackery accepts? What if the panel pumps more? Is it being cut automatically by Jackery’s controller?
Yes Jackery throttles the input so the batter is are not overloaded and last longer. I have charged many times in full sun with the folio 300 watt panel. The advantage of a large panel is more power in lower light. Happy to help. If you need more details let me know. =Cosmo

I want non stop power. I also camp in dense forest on cloudy - VERY cloudy weather. So 300 is a better choice for me in those conditions. I also have a Jack 1000, 500, 300, and 260 so I want to charge it all as fast as I can. Since the 300 and 100 are the same price I think the 300 is a great value. use two 300 to charge my trailer. I can say this about that. Jackery sent me a product to test a month or two ago along with a long list of conditions to test it with. I would feel confident with a Jackery power station. I can not say that about other labels.

Hi, I was wondering if I can supplement my 300 watt solar panels that are on my RV roof with one of these portable systems? I have 2 12v golf (water) batteries now that are hooked up to the panels, but sometimes need more wattage especially in the wintertime. Hello GW. In my opinion these are great for how I am using them. Throw them out in the sun when you need them. I do several days to 21 day trips usually. I dont think these are a good match for a permanent installation since they hae a nylon housing which will deteriorate in extended sun use. Glass and aluminum, are better housings for constant use.
Like you I need more power in clouds and tree cover and this is a good solution for that situation.

@@ReneaDooserider Bluetti has very specific requirements for solar charging. It requires minimum 35 volts, I think. Dokio is max 18 volts, so it would not work. If you don't buy the Bluetti solar panels ( you would need more than one for that big power station) you would need to get something that you can run in "series" to maximize the voltage. That unit can take I think up to 150 volts to get best speed in charging. And you don't need a "controller" at all to charge a power station, that has a super high quality controller built in. There are suitcase kits that have no controller and the wires have mp4 connectors that allow you to run them in series, and I think your unit has an adapter for mc4 connectors. Bluetti panels are expensive but they are extremely high quality and efficient. you would need two of the 200 watt panels, run in series; that would give you 40 volts and would be able to charge your power station. The more panels run in series, the faster it will charge. But when you shop, look for something that is set up to run in series - not parallel - and that does not have a controller.
For instance, Renology makes a 100W solar suitcase with mc4 connectors and no controller for about $200. It is supposed to put out 18 watts, so two of them in series should charge the Bluetti. It's actually better to have more smaller panels in series than fewer bigger panels when it comes to the Bluetti because it's the volts that are crucial to the charging threshold. The more volts the faster it will charge. The Renology panels though are heavier but more durable.
There are some foldable panels that have connectors which bypass the controller and adapters to charge most power stations; but they don't have the voltage and they are tricky to get the connectors and cables to set up in parallel. I think Bluetti sells the AC200 in a bundle with three 120 watt panels, which would produce 360 watts and 60 volts. You could get close to that with four renology 100 watt suitcases, without controllers, in series; 400 watts and over 60 volts.

did you get an answer on this question? i plan on buying 4 of the, wiring in series into my mppt. on amazon listing it says 600vdc max, so at 21.5volts that is a lot of panels in series. today i just bought the one unit and if i am happy i will buy another, and rinse and repeat until i get to 4 units over the next few several weeks

I have the Jackery 100 watt panels and the Dokio. I have used the Dokio on the 240 300 500 1000 and 1500. It is working great for me. Each Jackery has a limit to how many watts it will accept. So the 240 may accept X but the panel can put out more. The Jac just wont accept it but it does not harm Jack. The difference for me is the Dokio puts out more power in all conditions. In low light that is important. I had no problems with the Dokio and Jackery panels. I can not speak for long term wear and tear on the Dokio I received mine in Nov 2020. To receive ZAMP connection. We also have the rooftop solar panels and therefore a solar controller. Vestibule says that we don’t need an additional controller. We are thinking about buying the 300 Dokio to supplement as we’re going on a long trip next year. 5 months. The Polarity question came from reading about ZAMP Which seems to reverse its polarity. I know nothing about solar panels and so it’s just looking to confirm that it’s OK to buy a Dokio with this set up.

The Jckery only draws what it needs. If you totally discharge the Jackery it will absorb more watts. The Jackery pulls the solar panel does not push. To determine how many watts the solar panel is putting out use an amp meter connected directly to the solar panel with no battery connected (dead short test). i just got my 300 watt dokio panel and the jury is still out for me as i was sent a used unit that may have problems, but i will say this, its floppier and more awkward than i thought it would be. it seems like most people just lay them flat wich is not a good angle lol. also i can see the flexible plastic breaking under its own weight if you are not careful about placement. i still think the dokio panels are awesome though, as you can see in this video he got 16% out of the smaller panel and 21% out of the dokio, in a cloudy sky, that would seal the deal for me
I will be testing a dead short out of the panels. Is that how you are testing?
@@CosmoWeems i test through a couple of methods but i normally do not do the dead short test. i use a rgbzone inline watt meter and a confirm amps and volts via amp clamps and other various hall affect sensors. my tests on the dokio was actually output from controller to battery, i find these low power pwm controllers are actually pretty efficient as far as power in power out so it should be within 2-3% accurate, if i was to guess.
not sure if i mentioned this here or not, but i plant to wire the 4 individual panels in series, this week and see what we get, i suspect all the cables involved are not even rated for the amps that can be passed over them. i am new to electricity/solar/wire gauge but if i was to guess i would say those four panels wired in parallel are on 16 gauge wire and in good sun at perfect angle i can maintain 17 amps, but the cables and jacks get hot, especially the sae connector that comes right out of the panel, in face i think its melted a bit on mine and the damn sae cables just fall unplugged. but then again, maybe that bad connection is why it gets hot in the first place. anyways when i go series i am shooting for 60v x 4a =240 watts over 60 foot 16 gauge wire. that ten foot of cable is not enough, i want the panel out in the sun and my controllers/batteries away from the sun inside. i dont see where any blocking diode could be in this panel. i barely understand what that is needed for, but if there is one, i suspect its in the cable where the left side and right side come together and then go through a diode, if there even is one.

Hi Butch! The simple answer is - it depends. Norcold makes a few models and they all draw different amounts of power. Check the amps or watts per hour you fridge draws (look at the specifications). Then divide that into the watts available on the Jackery models. I am assuming you are running 12 volt fridge on 12 volts and not using an inverter to step the voltage up to 120 volts? Mr. Weems, What kind of controller could we buy to replace the one that comes with the Dokio solar panels?
Not sure I would look for an MPPT controller. You want to make sure buy for the maximum amperage meaning calculate how many amps total - if you are getting 2 panels get a controller that an handle that. I find the controller that came with the panels is very good for my situation. One Dokio controller per panel. So i connect each panel to its controller and connect each controller to the battery. once the battery is almost totlly charged I disconnect one panel and controller and let the single controller and panel finish the job. I hope this helps. This has an added advantage of high reliability since I have 2 of everything should one fail. Many people like the Vectron MPPT controller. I hope this helps! about a week ago, i finally got my mppt controller out to learn and compare to my several pwm units. i have found that with "12 volt" systems the ocv is 21.5 and normally produce 16 volts so far this winter in full sun. mppt really requires more voltage than that to start taking advantage of "mppt". i have read we need about 5 volts more than what the controller is giving to the battery so for me, i charge at 14.4v +5v = 19.5 which isnt going to happen with this 300 watt panel me thinks. according to my calculations my 100 watt panel connected to my pwm controller is about 6% more efficient than my mppt, using the same kind of panel connected to the same kind of battery in the same state of charge in the same sun at the same time. but, if we can wire two of these panels in series to a mppt i think we may have something which is my goal, actually i want to do 4 in series, and im waiting to hear back from dokio on this
How many watts (not Amps or Voits) do you get under ideal (or even good) solar conditions? This detail seems to be avoided in every review of this panel. Is it pretty low compared to non-fold-able panels?

The first delivery had no cables but Amazon swapped it out and all was well for me. CHECK THE POLARITY before you hook it to your battery. In direct sunlight, does this in fact output 300 watts? I have seen the reviews and well they say this panel can only output 120 watts max in direct sunlight. I was thinking of buying this for the 300 watts. But the reviews have me very very very sceptical now. I bought a teshi herri solar panel that is 120 watts and the panel actually delivers 121 watts under load. The teshi herri solar panels had great reviews.
Could you link me a video of the output being tested in somewhat ideal conditions. Like direct sunlight. I don't want to put down 300 bucks on this and it not perform like it is advertised. 300 bucks is quite a lot to put into a product like this.
I have measured at 284 watts, There is a very simple reason people are getting bad results. They are not measuring correctly. THey are not testing just the panel. They are testing the panel connected to a controller and batter. That is incorrect. They are testing what the battery is absorbing not what the panel is putting out. @@CosmoWeems That video was pretty good. I measured my 120 watt panel that way as well as measuring the current being put through the solar charge controller. I measured 20 volts into the solar charge controller and then it was using 6.1 amps on a sunny day.
I was wondering what those conditions would be for this panel. It is worrisome when I see the bad reviews and a gallery of them.

As that video points out DONT MEASURE INTO the controller WHATIS YOUR AMPS WITH ONLY THE METER CONNECTED TO JUST THE SOLAR PANEL? What the panel advertised as producing? The controller is throttling the current to not burn up your batteries. That is what a controller is for. Its a gatekeeper to prevent over charging. DONT CONNECT THE PANEL TO ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE METER. That is what the lady showed. =Cosmo
For a paralell connection you connect each solar panel to a single input. the two positive wires connect to the positive input and the 2 negative wires connect to the negative input.

I wish to add to the conversation Cosmo. Due to you and others convinced me to have a go with Jackery 1000. Setting it up here in my backyard has proven interesting on so many levels.
Positioning towards the sun. Every 15 minutes or so the user must reposition the panel.
Rarely if ever do I register 60%. 63% has been the highest. As a consumer, I find this appallingly low! Way overblown to my taste. Ads state 100 watts. Yet, amazingly, produce way way less. Then of course, the up-sale part of marketing, obtain a parallel adapter buy yet another 100 watt panel for $300 translating to maybe 120 to 130 watts power production. Fine if the consumer intends to remain in camp all day to monitor the unit. But more importantly constantly reposition the panel’s to render full electric production. I wish I we’re savy enough to do the mathematical equation needed here to reach any sort of honest REAL efficiency to overall cost. My other question, why the claims? Why advertise 100 watts when panel’s can’t reach near that number.
My neighbors, whom have been converted by carefully theocratic sales hype unknowingly live believing solar atop their homes produce 100% as if electricity is free somehow. False.

1) Use a multi meter and test the voltage with nothing connected
2) Use the multi meter to test the current with no battery (watts * Volts = amps or Amps * voltage = watts). You will find he panel is putting out full power.
3) You are seeing internal resistance of a battery. The more drained a functioning battery is the less watts the battery display will show it is absorbing.
4) At the end of the charge cycle the 1000 may only be accepting 10 watts.
5) If the above is beyond you - drain the battery to 10% and do your test again. You will see significantly more current (watts) being accepted by the battery.
You are getting what you paid for but might want to understand how the battery and incoming power work.

@@CosmoWeems i appreciate your video but i disagree with your theory of why they are not getting the power they think they are. that jackery has a lithium battery and while i am unfamiliar with lifepo as of yet, i have worked with lipo and lithium has a low internal resistance compared to lead acid and other types. anyways something i learned over the covid summer is that solar panel manufacturers and sellers tell us is what the panel will do in perfect light, perfect angle, perfect humidity, no clouds and perfect temp. all the above is kinda a given, but what isnt common knowledge is that they while the panel does do what they say, we need to find a device that can do something with those volts and amps the panels CAN produce in a manner that extracts the most energy from the panels, and they give us a pwm controller that cant get all the power out of the solar panel kit and here is why. on pwm we get 14.4v x 16a =230 watts. sure the open circuit voltage is 21.5, but we only use about 14.4v at most with pwm. mppt requires more volts that this panel can deliver to take advantage of mppt. i am reading that the jackery 1000 has a 21 volt battery inside, that could be the problem. you cant charge 21 volts with 16 volts. i will post this and come back when i know for sure what voltage is required to charge the jackery 1000, i thought i read somewhere that you need like 30 volts, which this panel will never do, unless you get two of them and wire them in series.
