I've always had the softest spot for Fuji. If I was restarting my camera journey tomorrow I would shoot Fuji. I just got my Nikon Z8 and am blown away by the internal 8.3k RAW. I also bought 2 of the Sabrent 512GB over an Angelbird (who is OEM for Arri and RED) and it has no issues with burst shooting or 8k60p RAW video. Happy to see both Fuji and Nikon really start bringing the heat to everyone else.
As a Fujifilm shooter I feel the opposite. With Fuji as my primary for almost a decade, I think the best way to get into Fujifilm is the X100 series or the X-T30.
As pro camera they are seriously lacking, but as a toy or casual travel, snap, doc, and street camera they're pretty great.
My advice from experience would be stick with your Sony, Canon, or Nikon for those more serious interchangeable lens times, and get a pocket Fujifilm for an everyday carry. Anything larger than an X-T30 has diminishing returns, especially if you compare size and weight to some full frame cameras.
They're fun when fun's the game, but can incredibly frustrating if you actually want to get anything done. Think of them as the budget Leica, but just with worse AF than the full-frame market and no real range finder.
Stick with Nikon and buy an X100 if you want to play around, taking photos of day to day stuff. The X-T30 and 16f2.8/23f2/35f2/50f2 are pretty good options too if you know your prime. I'd avoid the 27f2.8 and 18f2 pancakes they're not the best build quality. I've had a couple variations just stop being able to AF altogether.
@@-grey I switched from a Sony a7IV and shoot on a XT-5 professionally. The XT-5 is robust and the fact that it's APS-C didn't matter once I saw the image quality. I've never been frustrated with it for workflows and I find the AF to work well. I come from originally shooting film and using manual lenses on cine cameras, so AF is a luxury, but has never been a necessity for me.
It is fantastic overall how many options we have as photographers and I don't think you can go wrong with any of these systems these days! Really love what Nikon is doing with their cameras as well!
@@Christo_glenn give it time. I've been with the system for years. The X-T5 is brand new. The honeymoon phase will end.
@@-grey What is it about the Fuji system that you don’t like or not consider it to be ‘professional’ level? I’ve had the XT-5 for over half a year and have used it on a lot of shoots, even for my commercial work.
The only thing I can say is that the low-light performance isn’t a good as full-frame obviously, but I often make sure I have proper lighting.
@@Christo_glenn The dynamic range is shallow leaving harsher contrast to process out. The files in general area pretty mushy and wormy. You can't turn off the film simulations so you have to shoot raw if you want a neutral, non-stylised, or accurate color on occasion, this doesn't work for video. The AF is at best 4th place behind Sony, Canon, and now Panasonic with the S5II, so it struggles and lacks confidence for most of their lens line up - leaving a lot of crucial misses. The tone curve in the film simulations is flat and muddy, while at the same time far too hard contrast. The mechanical shutters crap out pretty quick. The audio preamps are shouty and hot. The aperture rings are often too easy to bump out of settings. Lots of slow grindy lenses with weird quirks like being super soft at minimum focus distance wide open. The Quality control on a lot the lenses is terrible, especially the ones coming out of Thailand, like the pancakes - I've had various copies just stop Auto focusing altogether for months while on location, meaning I was out a wide prime at Ankor Wat. Little to no real good kaizen firmware support since they added Flog to the X-T2. Limited software features or conveniences like other brands have - Even a zone focus priority mode like Ricoh has would go a long way to remedying the focus by wire experience. Basically zero customer service or support. The list goes on.

I come more from a music making background, and could relate to the issue of more dials and buttons being a good thing for intuitive control that can become motor skill. Music synthesizers also benefit from many dials and buttons in a similar way. And I think car companies are also returning to the appreciation of dedicated controls, rather than menu diving.
Glad to see Fuji fixed the highlight-rolloff! On my X-T4, I often got weird green-ish yellow hues around the sun, which were a pain to fix in post.

Impressive review for this camera done by a youtube. I am using this camera for both still and video and very impressed with the quality. Even cinema cameras have super 35 so the sensor size doesn't matter. Thank you for great information.

I went from Canon M50 to Fuji XS10 and the colors and simulations got me hooked so I upgraded to the XH2S when it launched.
Try setting the camera to AF+MF. This way the AF will focus the lens and then when you touch the focus ring it will punch in for focus check, and you can then fine tune the focus with the focus ring.
I love the XH2s, I currently have two as I primarily shoot sports and it’s been a huge AF upgrade from my XT4

The XT-5 is a more manageable weight and size. An absolutely fantastic camera, mate!

I know It might not make sense for your audience, but could you go over some of the things you mentioned in this video? What does mirror less mean, why is that important, what's the difference between a camera built for in motion content vs stills. I'm sure you could find a way to make that entertaining.
I don't really understand why Fuji didn't go the Nikon way with the ISO on the X-H2/X-H2S
On Nikon DSLRs there is a lot of button + dial stuff, for WB, ISO, exposure comp etc and it always made sense to me. And especially here on the X-H2 body, seeing the ISO button placed where it was I was really expecing Fuji to do the same thing for ISO adjustment, like pressing the button and turning the rear dial to adjust ISO but no it opens up a menu instead.
Seems like a missed opportunity to me, and the repurpose of one dial to ISO is also a bit limiting. On my X-H1 for example, I can either have the classic Fuji dials, or if I want switch to a full DSLR like control system with front dial being both ISO and aperture (I click the dial to cycle between the two settings) and the rear one being shutter speed (and punch-in for manual focus when I'm clicking it. It's available in AF-S btw, even with the AF+MF feature turned ON, dunno why they limited it to MF only on the X-H2)

I'd make sure to own two CFExpress Type B cards and Two V90 SD cards for a bullet proof setup, but you can build up to that and just start with one of each.

I just purchased the X-H2S again for some upcoming projects with a company because it has open gate recording - this will make like so much better on set. But the IBIS is honestly useless for video on this camera. I’m very disappointed by this, especially since the first job would require handheld footage and NO gimbal because it couldn’t fit into the kayak. We decided to use Canon R3 bodies and lenses for the job. BUTTER smooth. The X-H2S will be relegated to tripod use only now. Such a shame! The footage is beautiful…

When do you know you aren't a beginner? I feel lije mist cameras do the same thing (some better at one then, than another). Is it just wanting more features? Or is there things tbat beginners dont use that a professional does? Werid question, but still curious.
When you know how to balance exposure/iso/aperture for the creative result that you intend. Everything else just adds to the experience.
really the only difference between cameras brands these days is lens selection and ergonomics.... mirrorless cameras are all at a level where the technical differences only exist on paper
Professionals depending on what you shoot use different features of a camera yes but it's honestly not that much
@@LoFiAxolotl This. It comes down to lens selections and features at this point. People like to hum and haw about specs, but mostly any modern mirrorless camera can yield fantastic results in the right hands. Hell, I'd say that most people don't even need full-frame unless low-light is a super-important priority.
Hey, quick unrelated question. What 5” monitor would you pick for a camera? I am torn apart between atomos shinobi and atomos ninja (I have very good price for ninja). SmallHD isn’t available easily in eu, so I’m not sure if I have any other good option. Cheers!

@@AdamKuzniar Yup, but with totally different battery life, waveform responsiveness and few other things. I don’t really focus on this one brand, but can’t find anything compelling in the not too expensive range
The Blackmagic 5" monitor is bright, touchscreen, and it'll record Blackmagic Raw (.braw) from this camera. I'd take a close look at that.
@@BenjaminRowlandTV I've already pulled the trigger for Ninja V. The issue with BM's moitor is that in the same price bracket (the 3G model) it doesn't have any HDR support, and only does 1080p. So i'd have to splurge on the 12G model and this one is much more expensive than what I've paid for Ninja

Hello u seem to know alot about everything lol I own a canon eos r with a 85mm, 35mm ef. I love my eos r for pictures but my stability is crazy i can take a video without being crazy harsh on the eyes. I also have a go pro 11 i love how the image stabilization is so great but i want a camera that can do both. Or i can have 2. Canon eos r for pictures dont get me wrong its great for videos but every time i move it sucks. was looking at sony a7c ii and fujifilm. I want something long term and versatile.what would you recommend i need a great quality camera too. Can u help. Am a barber and would love to take better content to market cuz i tried ghe go pro inside my studio n it sucks

my biggest gripe with the X-H2.... PSAM dials are for Sony/Canon users... Fuji give us back actual dials
There’s the XT5 for that
There exists no X-T camera with the stacked sensor from the X-H2S. Moreover, while I get that the idea is to win over people from the other systems, Fuji has two battles there. One is that the other brands still stand head and shoulders above them for continuous autofocus. The other is that all the other brands have the option of going full frame. The reason people use Fuji over other brands is the appeal of what they bring to the table as far as usability and aesthetics.
What I don't get is why this camera to draw in Sony/Canon/Nikon users had to be the X-H line. The X-H1 actually had the objectively superior mode of controls of other Fuji cameras, albeit sans explicit exposure comp dial. Why drop that rather than simply having a single-digit X-S line of cameras which they already established as having the inferior, but ubiquitous PSAM interface? Anybody claiming that the "DSLR-style" body lends itself to PSAM better is just manufacturing extract of bovine feces. Dials are dials and the shape of a body is its own thing. There is no dependency of one on the other. The X-H1 and GFX 50S both proved that much.
how would you compare to the XT-5 ?
I think the button layout alone makes the the XH2-S much more compelling for video with many more features stacking on to the video benefits. However if stills is your focus I'd go XT5

Pretty sure 99% of users would choose the top screen over more buttons. Also you could have just used the excellent 7 custom modes as extra buttons by changing only that specific setting each time.
Compared with Sony, Fuji's picture is a bit greenish.

might as well be a Sony
i used to love Fuji.... the X-Pro1 and X-Pro2 were my favorite photography cameras.... but the X-Trans sensor lost some of it's magic with every new version.... the X-Trans 5 might as well be in a sony camera... the ergonomics might also be Sony.... i switched to the Panasonic S5II and couldn't be happier... my old EF lenses found some use again and i much prefer their ergonomics.... if there's an X-Pro4 i might consider Fuji again but my X-H1 is already listed for sale

How are the lenses more affordable than FF equivalents? In almost every single category, Sony full frame is always cheaper or same price, sometimes with extra 1 stop of performance.

I think the value lies in Fuji's range of f/2.0 primes. They're tiny and even more afforable. But all else mentioned, I do agree that their fast primes are too expensive.
You need a new nonstick. When the coating gets messed up you end up ingesting the teflon.

I find Fuji colors terrible, especially their raws. Now that Nikon has the Zf there is no need anymore for Fuji.

Sounds like you are in a bracketing drive mode, go to your drive mode setting and switch it to single photo.
