Great review. I’m a bit late to the party. I bought a 2009 SLK300 in December 23. Love it. Definitely not a hairdressers car but at the same time not an MX5, I driven those. Although mine is an 09 car it has the feel of an old Mercedes, powerful but in a more refined and sophisticated way.

Great review Capt, love your SLK. I got mine in 2018 - a 2008 model. Only the 200 Kompressor, but it's only done 68K miles, from one careful owner who obviously looked after it. Like you, this is my second car - and I drive around on sunny dry days only! I'm able to keep it garaged, and happy to say it hasn't been in the wet since 2017! Runs like a champ, and I watch it like a hawk for any problems.
And for those that think SLKs are a hairdresser's car, all I can say is that blindness must be terrible for you.
And my neighbour used to have a TT -- and She is a hairdresser!!!!

It is not a feminine looking car unless you compare it with a tank. It is very pleasing to the eye. Nice lines. I have one and I love it. I am neither a hairdresser nor a footballer's wife.

I had a 1997 SLK until 8 weeks ago, roof still worked nicely apart from having to push down on one edge...I really miss that tuned beast

Thanks for the vid. Like you I was thinking about a Z4 & a TT but the performance & looks made the decision for me. Just waiting for the right one to come along & shout at me. All the best.........

Well I’ve just clocked over 80,000 miles. Absolutely no issues. Burns no oil and uses no coolant. Only thing had to do was a new thermostat and the passenger door window control module failed. This is because water can leak onto the terminals and kill them. Overall fabulous car.

1700 quid? That's a real deal unless you meant 17.000 quid.

It was indeed £1,700 as they took the old one in part ex and I needed to pay the £1,700 on top. The thing was they only wanted to see inside the car, outside and the service history. Did not bother to even start the engine. Rather naive Mazda dealers but from my point of view I got a decent motor. Done over 24,000 miles in it in the last year from Scotland to Somerset and everywhere between. Far prefer it to my BMW X5 (more reliable too) only issue is the fact it drinks fuel and eats rear tyres or is that my heavy right foot causing that haha
