The best video for this projector. This is on a black fri sale at best buy right now for $599. I had the benq 2050a picked out and ready to buy but this price got me thinking. The bulbs are 60 for this and 250 for the benq, that a huge difference. Plus no rainbow effect and better uniformity. Uniformity is my number 1 concern. I don't care if a picture is in 16k, if it's got blotches or bright spots or rainbows, its garbage. I'm still debating but I think this one might be it. I have a sneaking suspicion I'll go with the benq and see one little rainbow and never be able to unsee it again.
Thank you very much for actually showing the input lag compared to other reviews out there. I was curious to see if this would work for competitive FPS games and seeing the slight delay shows that it's not.
got the 2100 model. still under warranty, gonna sell it. No complaints, but even with a special grey screen (shout out to Crow1176), the black levels aren't enough for me with night scenes. the native 1080p, generous lens shift, good lumens, etc. are great tho
Great video. I suggest this projector to friends that are considering replacing their flat panel TVs with a 100”+ projector setup due to its brightness and capabilities in the daytime or with ambient light. In fact, one particular friend has to shut the blinds to watch their flat panel TV because the resulting glare from sunlight pouring in completely blocks their image!
I use a ps4, I can plug a optical cable into the ps4 and run hdmi to the projector. That works fine because it's only 1080p and I don't lose any audio quality.
Have you tried using it with a home theater receiver? Plug your fire tv stick into the receiver and run a HDMI cable to the projector. The sound is amazing.
I haven't! But I have an enthusiast buddy who has told me to do this (I just haven't setup a receiver or any sound system with it because it took a backseat to other stuff). I've been eye balling Denon receivers though per my buddies recommendation for cost:performance
Eight-Six best option in the sub-$800 category? Really thinking about this one. Better black levels, contrast, and color depth vs. the Epson 1060 (although slightly less bright). Didn’t know if it was worth the extra $100 or so.
...came back to leave a tip here for anyone reading the comments, but on my Denon x4500h receiver, ALLM mode has reduced input lag from my console to my projector. It's quite noticeable upon first using it and I am successfully playing online competitively with almost no input lag issues.
Eight-Six yeah it’s called “Auto Low Latency Mode” and it really was night and day difference from my old receiver or from being plugged directly into the projector.
Great video! So hard to find a thorough and useful video about this product! What was your experience with the the projector's aspect format? With the content you're watching were you able to have it take the entire screen? I tried changing mine to fill the while screen with my 4th generation 1080p Apple TV but changing the aspect was not an option because all the other options accept for normal were greyed out and could not make those options to make. If you hooked a laptop via HDMI did it take the entire screen? I tried and the content shows as a small rectangle with lots of space that could have been filled with content :/
Hi there my name is Fernando, I have an Epson 2150, but I lost my Qr Code and I can’t seem to have the epson to display on screen? I seen your QR code in the video, can I use that QR code to set my epson 2150? Or can you do a video on how to display the QR code & or how to link to my home network. Ty for your time
Just need active glasses that can connect to the projector and you're in business :) I tested it with some RUclips 3D stuff as well as digital 3D movies.
Thanks for the video and for taking the time to do it! I have a question about this projectors that don't have an audio optical out. I have an Apple tv (1hdmi) and a soundbar (Sonos) connectable either with Hdmi or optical. How can I get the image from apple tv and sound though the soundbar? Epson is recommending to get the sound from the source but that is not possible without another device (I don't even know what that would be - an hdmi sound extraction?!) I tried an Benq W2700 (ht3550 in Us i believe) but the rainbow effect is noticeable, the fan is noisy and the 4k pixel shifting seems so fake and overly sharp. Now I am looking into a cheaper 1080p projector without rainbow effect, but all this epsons don't have an audi optical out. Interested hearing in how I can connect it to a sound system. Thanks!
Great review! I picked one of these up the end of last month and i'm not thrilled. I can't tell if I'm being picky or if there is a lack of quality with my specific unit. I replaced a 52" Samsung 1080p LCD in my media room with the Epson HC 2150 & 100" White Elite Screen and honestly, the 52" is just better looking. That may be due to the fact i'm stretching the same resolution to 4x the size, but every review I've read for this projector has been so positive, I'm leaning towards it being the projector not meeting the advertised quality over me being a snob. (My other TV is a 65" QLED, so I'm refraining from comparing that to the projector) What level of fidelity is everyone experiencing? A sharp picture, or "good enough for 1080p over 100"+"?
I just bought the 2150 and must say like you said I have a 106" screen dropping in front of my Samsung 60" 1080p tv and I know it's not as bright but I got the projector for the size of the picture with some loss compared to a tv but you can not beat the experience the big screen gives you. mind you this 2150 projector is not some high end projector but it does the job at its price point and that is why i started with this projector till i upgrade in later time.
HOUS BIN PHARTEEN thanks! With all the praise this thing receives, I wasn’t sure if it offered a clearer picture that I’m just not getting. Appreciate the insight!
yeah, it doesn't sound like you're taking into account the assumed fidelity difference between a projector and a LCD tv. Maybe even the understood notion of needing more distance between viewer and screen? Maybe 4k or pixel-shifting 4K(faux-K) projectors will bridge the 1080p on a huge screen gap for you.
I personally think this is all the picture quality you really need and than some in a projector. To me it’s the feel of the old school movie theatres growing up and than some really. So just my opinion but to me it’s bad ass. If I want the 4K I’ll just watch it on my other tv.🤷♂️
Do you still use this projector or have you replaced it? I'm considering getting one since the price is so affordable, both for the unit itself and lamps.
I do and I love it still. Now that Baseball is back I go out there and watch my games on it when I am home. Havent had to replace the lamp yet myself still looking good but less than 1k hours I'm sure.
The only problem I have is how does everybody complain about fan noise when you're watching a movie and have surround sound on you can't hear s*** anyway or games I don't have this one but I mean fan noise in general
For my instance the projector is direct over head of seating, so a quiet moment in a movie with it cranked way up sometimes grabs your attention... this is the moment of ‘what is that...oh right the projector’ which removes you from the immersion experience. It’s a small thing but it happens.
I have a ceiling mounted Epson 2150 and in Natural mode I never hear the projector. Even during quiet scenes...mostly because my air conditioner makes louder “whoosh” sounds than the projector does. Sometimes I get away without hearing the Dynamic Mode fan noise due to the a/c.
Do you recommend any wired or Bluetooth speaker/receiving that are on Amazon that work well with the Epson 2150? I know very little when it comes to projectors so I’m looking for something that is easy to set up and doesn’t require much adjusting
I'm a lazy DIYer myself. I ran 100ft 3.5mm using thumb tacks to rest it on (obviously not pinched through) to route it around the come to the speaker. Most bluetooth dongles will require charging but work well enough - just bluetooth in my experience slowly cascades a delay... after a few hours the lips start to look a little off from the words. I tried this out and it worked well enough I just prefer the simple 3.5mm (no fancy receiver for me). amzn.to/2Mck0j1 Vid: ruclips.net/video/T5WoRV_Io9E/видео.html

Nice! I'm a newb with receiver setups but logically one would think the extra stops/processing means MORE latency not less - so that's pretty cool!
Eight-Six yeah it’s called “Auto Low Latency Mode” and it really was night and day difference from my old receiver or from being plugged directly into the projector.
How do you get this projector to fill out the full screen, corner to corner? Is there a quick setting for that? Thanks!
It has a zoom and lens shift which makes finding my angles super easy. Lens shift is a must for my setup.

So it can not make non 3D RUclips videos or any non 3D video into 3D then?
@@KatelynCao No the content needs to be 3D or created for 3D - If it's a non-3D video the projector does not transform it into 3D.

Doable, but not weather proof. Mines still kicking in our garage which we turned in to a theater room. "Semi-perma-oputdoor-ish" if that helps.
