I'm a big fan of chinos these days as my go to "casual" look. I do wear jeans for everyday wear - they're practical and hard wearing. So if I am just out doing the weekly food shop or picking my daughter up from school, a pair of jeans and a polo are just fine, usually with a pair of boots. But if I am going out for a social occasion, I like to dress it up a little bit and for that, chinos are usually the foundation of all my outfits. I currently have 4 pairs - Desert/Khaki, Navy, Off White and Burgundy. Paired with a nice shirt (and I have a few really stylish casual shirts I picked up while I was in Venice), I think they're a much better option than jeans, especially so during the summer months. And you can go one step further and build up with a waistcoat and/or sport coat and it still looks quite smart while being comfortable and casual. I went out a few weeks ago to a friend's birthday party (my Italian tutor) and some of her other friends were there. I hadn't met them in over a year and that was the only time I had ever met them. But they remembered me, not because they remembered what I look like but because they remembered my style, which is usually built on a foundation of chinos, shirt and brogues or loafers
I do love all your videos, but I doubt any will be as influential as this one, I'm currently in the process of transferring from super casual, jeans and hoody all day every day, do a formal style, this is like my bridge, my gateway
As a father of young children, I find this one spot on. It's very difficult for me to dress at an high formality scale, as I need functionality to be around those little guys, yes all guys. I aspire to dress casually, but with a certain style, keeping quality garments that fit well in my wardrobe. Usually I quite like to wear cardigans, Arran sweaters, and wool roll necks, but also nice tweed sports jacket’s aswell, with some Barbour and trench coats aswell

Corduroy. I have three corduroy shirts and two corduroy sports jackets. You can dress up or down such a sports jacket in a wide range. Henley, jeans, and sneakers up to a knit tie, dress shirt, and wool trousers.
Would Gentleman's Gazette be interested in making a video about "sport shirts" in the future? Referring to the loop collared, generously cut shirts, often with one or two chest pockets and worn casually with or without tailoring in the 1940s & 1950s, often in bright colours or flannel, rayon etc. Ethan Wong has written a great deal about them on his blog. You covered some of its descendents in this video; the Cuban collared shirt for one, and I know Preston calls his short sleeved patterned summer shirts "sport shirts", a kind of modern equivalent.
I strive for a casual elegant look. Black jeans, a loosely buttoned shirt and I also have a waistcoat with matching back and an almost jean-like material. On colder days I use my beloved nice and long, black trench coat.
Don't forget the Harrington jacket. Casual lightweight. Can wear a tie and dress shirt or t shirt and jeans. I usually wear something in the middle. Nice sweater, dress shirt or flannel underneath.
Rafael: A little off topic, but at about 2:00 into the video, there's a shot of Rafael in white tie holding a classic walking stick/cane. Can you tell me where I might purchase a stick like that. I want a real deal quality one, and all I seem to find are cheaply made costume remakes. And definitely the type you're holding, with the round knob handle instead of the typical curve-handled cane. Formal overcoats are the most versatile winter garments, they pair great with anything, specially single breasted ones with hoodies. I'm middle aged and when I wear a very long one with a hoodie (zipped works best) I get compliments. You can accessorize them with scarfs hats and BUM BAGS. Yes a loose fitting coat paired with a fanny pack acting as a belt, If you want to look stylish but not boring look how women assemble their outfits. Men tend to sameness and blandness and sometimes baldness
Hello My favorite channel! I have a question, I am getting a khaki/light tan suit tailored, could I wear the same color tie as the suit, but it is patterned? And if I have a tan tie, can a burgundy patterned pocket square or a red pocket square match with the tie?

Although I agree if too loose the fit then it will look more grandpa like as you stated but since I'm lean and toned it's not too bad. I'm in my 30's so I stopped wearing certain pieces and have upgraded since. I enjoy long sleeve linen shirts more than polos in all honesty but still own both. Thanks for the response. Classic fits most of the time look too baggy so I go for slim and it shows off my toned physique obviously.

I said that too. I just got my third one. You can go to very casual up to a shirt and tie and it still looks good. The more I wear mine, the better I like it. No regrets of any kind. Very sturdy. It seems like they'll last for many years.

Being one of "those guys", I have a pair of cowboy boots (dress boots with a round toe, not square toe work boots) that I like to wear to concerts, rodeos, etc. so my question is how far up the formality scale could you wear these? Obviously, I'm not expecting to wear them to the office but could they be paired well with a more casual suit or a casual ensemble (like with a sport coat etc.) or do they not really fit in to 'classic' men's style and are best left for special events?
All that new denim is just an overhyped trend. Obviously, corduroy is out of season now, but there's little reason to wear corduroy jeans, anyway, unless there is some specific color that can't be found in a nicer pair. I really don't want to unpack this whole thing now.
Yes, I would rather wear a flannel shirt with cord jeans than denim ones some of the time, since that can be a bit more "earthy" than just typical indigo blue.

Chinos are just so comfy, especially on a hot day. I think they're less effort to wear than jeans even.

The guayabera is Mexican. They're still made in the Yucatan peninsula. The pockets were made to hold guayabas (guavas) hence its name Guayabera.

Both work. Light(er) to mid brown and burgundy will get you where you want to go. Suede is a great option. Although, more broguing will be more ideal.

In my opinion people have became lazy apparel wise . Most think flip flops , faded jeans and a punk rock T shirt is dressing up today.

Polo shirts are basically underwear. They are sportswear and don't deserve to be treated as "dress" shirts.
Polo shirt with jacket is complete No-No. Hard stop.
If you just wear t-shirt under other shirt WHERE IT BELONGS you won't have to worry about "styling" correctly.
I found a BUNCH leather jackets that suit me.
Kyle's style is more of my style. He appeals more of the modern Gentleman to me and not the dandy/vintage/Gatsby type.
