- Barry White's 1977 album, "Barry White Sings For Someone You Love" returned him to the pinnacle of the R&B chart, something he had not done since 1975. It was driven by the success of "It's Ecstasy When You Lay Down Next To Me" which went #1 R&B in the summer of 1977 and then "Playing Your Game, Baby" issued in the fall of 1977.
"Playing Your Game, Baby" peaked at #8 R&B but missed the Hot100 completely peaking at #101. His next notable single was "Your Sweetness Is My Weakness" a #2 R&B hit in 1978. He continued to have success on the R&B charts between 1979 and 1992. In 1994 he topped the R&B chart one more time with "Practice What You Preach".
Barry appeared on the Quincy Jones song "The Secret Garden (Sweet Seduction Suite)" with El Debarge, James Ingram and Al B Sure a #1 R&B hit in 1990.

When I was younger I didn't understand why his songs were always so much longer than other artists. Then when the appreciation of music kicked in I never wanted his songs to stop.
I think Barry and Issac Hayes had some long long records. Same here didn't appreciate it when I was younger. I love them long long versions now 😢😪

I was working nightshift at Union Pacific railroad and was heading home when I heard that Barry White had died. I drove into a strip mall parkway, stopped and started to cry. I must have been there for an hour just remembering all his beautiful music that DJ's started to play and memories. No one has ever made me feel the way he did and falling in love with his smooth voice and feeling his love. Being a white woman at age 22 when I got his first album which was a gift from my boyfriend at the time back in early 70's. I can't believe after all these years that he's still gone. I'm still crying listening to him sing on this site. I saw his widow take his fabulous car to Danny at "Counts Kustoms" and refurbish it. It turned out beautiful and honoring his name and her love of her late husband.

Seeing the late Barry White in concert was a thrill! I recall seeing him and a full orchestra arise from the orchestra pit on a platform to the stage level. They were all dressed in satin pajamas! The audience went wild! It was magical!
