- Installing a Broan BCSQ130SS Range hood exhaust.
Our old range hood was in bad shape it was about 15 years old. We bought Broan because they are a local company and have great consumer grade products.
Very helpful video, thanks. Braun is the first appliance manufacturer I have found that you have to literally take the thing apart to see that you have all the parts before starting.
Glad it helped!!
Good video showing what the task is REALLY like for the average Joe or Jane Homeowner. I am about to replace my 15+ year old Broan (Nutone) range hood with a new Broan BCSQ130SS. It's mildly annoying to find that the Broan range hoods do not include a duct transition (in my case, for vertical ducting from the 3 1/4 in. by 10 in. opening to a 6" diameter roof duct), do not include a power cord (if you need one for your particular kitchen) and do not even include a 1/2 inch safety grommet for the hole on the top of the hood that the power cord passes through. You'll have to buy all those items separately.
P.S. Bought this Broan model to replace an old Broan (Nutone) WS130 hood - HOPING that the mounting holes would be in the same place since the outer dimensions of the hoods are the same. No such luck. I'll have to drill new holes for the mounting screws (at the least) and maybe have to replace the wood shims. Thank you, Broan. One other hint for potential installers: Broan supplies #8 x 5/8-inch round head wood screws to mount the hood to the cabinet. If your cabinet has a bottom recess (mine is 1 1/2 inches), those screws may not be long enough and you'll have to go find longer ones.
Thanks!! It’s those little things that could really make a customer say “they thought of everything”. Good luck and have a great Christmas holiday!!
Great video! Ejoyed the banter between you two! Best ever video of how to install a range hood. Now I understand the confusing power cable wiring instructions that came with my yet-to-be-installed Broan-NuTone range hood. The instructions say to mount the hood under the cabinet BEFORE connecting the wires, which means working upside down. Nice to know I can connect the wires first and then mount the hood under the cabinet! Thanks!
Thanks!! Glad it was helpful. Have a great weekend!
Comedy & instructional show! I loved it
Thanks! I didn’t have to spend as much time reading our instructions 😆
I was laughing my butt off. Much better than watching Bob Villa.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
nice work WNG
Very helpful - thank you!
Thank you for the kind words!! Have a great rest of your week!🙂
thank u
very helpful video....thanks
You’re welcome!! Thanks for the positive feedback!
I've had nothing but problems with Broan products. The vent hood fan in my bathroom went out and now I'm going to have to spend time and money to replace it. And the range hood has been an endless series of disappointments. The instruction manual reads like an advanced calculus exam. I've read it over and over and I still don't understand it. And the fan came on all by itself and wouldn't shut off. I had to get out my tools and remove the cover to try and unplug the fan unit, but there was no way to do that. I finally unplugged the entire hood and plugged it back in again and that fixed it. Also the range hood lights came on all by themselves until I figured out it was because of some "ambient lighting" sensor. In order to change some of these not-needed settings one has to try and decipher their instructions, which are not user friendly at all.
I agree about the directions, and I would say the bathroom exhaust fans where a bit less then what I thought they would be. However for me they have been pretty reliable so far.
Damn she has remarkable restraint 😅😂😅😂😊
Oh yea!!
Good video
Quick question regarding the damper/duct connector. Should the hinge be facing the front of the range and the flap opening towards the back? I can't tell from your video. Thank you!
hinge to the back.
@@whatsnextgarage Thank you so much! Love your video!
Thank you very much for the kind words!! Have a great week!
Thanks for that install video ! Are you guys still happy with the hood a few months later ? Is it working well and really pulling that air/grease out ?
Yes I would say it works as well or better then the old one. It’s just a touch louder then we would like. Other then that we are happy with it.
How much would yall charge someone to install it and they bought already the range hood.. just need to replace old and install new one ??
I bet 300 or so
Good, funny video. No theatrics Just normal.
Maybe a dumb question but is there a way to change this model into a ductless rangehood.
super sorry for the delay! i haven't been getting notifications of comments. to answer your question, yes it can be ductless and they sell a charcoal filter separately to help filter the exhaust.
Any chance you have a video of boiling water or something under it so we can see it perform?
I will do a quick vid of the performance tomorrow. Nothing cooking today😀. I can say it performs about as good as the one we removed. Only a touch quieter
You did not remove the blue plastic from the front top of the unit.
It’s off now there was no way my wife was gonna stand for it being on there lol good catch
Why not move the stove?
I guess I don’t have an answer🫣. That would have helped get in there for sure! Have a great weekend!
@@whatsnextgarage Thanks for that. I am planning to do mine in a few days. I'm going to move mine, hahaha.
Where did u getbthe cord from?
@@ScalpNinjaTrader it didn’t come with the cord. If you check the max amps usage of your microwave then go to Amazon and search “appliance cord whip” you will find what you need! Have a great week!
@@whatsnextgarage why the microwave?
@ScalpNinjaTrader oh shoot I’m sorry I meant the range hood🤦🤦. I got old man brains🤣🤣.
@@whatsnextgarage thank you sir
