As a Canadian who visited Cuba for five-years in a row from 1993 to 19997 in our northern wintertime, I must say that this is one of the best versions of Guantanamera that I have come across. In my and my mom and dad's first visit to Varadero in early-winter of 1993 in Varadero we stayed at the Tuxpan Hotel where we got a feel for what is was like to stay and get used to the local environment of a sub-tropical country. Aside from Guantanamera, the most requested song, by my Mom, of course, was Besame Mucho by the four-some who walked around the dining room floor for supper entertaining the guests. After all these years, I still cannot believe that the USA government has not normalized relations with the Cuban government. Sad story. Viva Cuba!

Stay strong Lisa. Suffering is just a temporary stage we all experience from time to time. Love is all around us no matter where we look. I´m from England and somehow stumbled upon this beautiful song and video that deeply expresses true love and unity. I sincerely hope your sadness for whatever it may be softens and allow you to shine with what I am sure you possess - a beautiful smile. Bless you.
@@lisawest6533 ... Dear Lisa, I am so happy to read that your spirits have been lifted due to this song along with my small contribution. Just remember that you are never alone. Reach out to all your loved ones and friends. Suffering only lingers on when one decides to shut themselves away ´from the world´. Music is a wonderful remedy that does wonders, unfortunately, not a cure or the solution to snap out of a negative state of being. You used two beautiful words in your message - “Kindness” and “hope”. It´s quite obvious for all to see in both of your messages what a wonderful person you are. Your heart full of gold and being in the right place. Whenever we sense sadness for whatever reason it may be, we need to know and accept that the past is past and unfortunately cannot rewind time. We need the present to reflect and act upon our current dilemma and find that strength we had in life just before that sadness appeared upon us in order to fight our predicament. We then look at tomorrow as tomorrow is the FUTURE and for ever full of HOPE - your beautifully chosen word. Tomorrow always starts the day with a clean slate. It bears no memory, negativity, pain or rejection of the past. Just pure beauty starting with the blissful morning air whilst always being reminded by the joyous singing birds of the beauty of life. I am positive in thinking that tomorrow will be your day, Lisa. Grab it and embrace it with all your might. I send my best regards and wishes your way. You deserve only the best!

I am a lifelong musician (keyboards) living in rural Kentucky hills. Playing for Change is the most positive force that I can name. It is the only thing that gives me hope in a unified NON-GLOBALIST world where we are working together in harmony. I am absolutely thrilled and feel ecstatic just listening to several songs. Everyone is so beautiful as is the world portrayed, wherever they may be. This is the best musical experience I have ever had.
This my friend is the very definition of globalism. A melting pot of cultures celebrating each other and playing their strengths. The ones saying globalism is something negative are the ones that are ultra nationalists and xenophobics.

Jose Marti was born in January 28 1853 , when he was 17 years old , he was exiled from Cuba, by the Spanish government, for being active in the Cuban librarition movement . He came back to Cuba in 1894 at age 42 , and started frighting for Cuba independent. He was the greatest writer in the Spanish language. He wrote over 70 books , poetrys , his last pome was Guatanamera. With in a year he will be killed in a filed uprising. In Guantanamera my favorite verse is , a mountain stream pleased me more then the ocean. Thank you Sarah.
No, José Martí is not the author of Guantanamera. The Guantanamera was composed by Joseíto Fernández and in it he included some verses from the poetry of "Versos Sencillos" by José Martí. One of the qualities of this great composition by Joseito is the freedom he gave to improvise and harmonize different poetic texts. (ruclips.net/video/9Hk1y3Gh4KE/видео.html) *Original Version with his own lyrics.
@@reimontube75 Yeah, I was wondering about that. I first heard 'Guantanamera' many many years ago and fell in love with the song - to me, it's almost the defacto national anthem for Cuba in the same way that 'Waltzing Matilda' is for my Australian homeland. You're only partially correct in terms of the history of the song as we know it today. It was Julián Orbón, a Cuban composer from later years, who gave the song a new layer by incorporating some of the poetry ofJosé Martí. In its original form Joseíto Fernández, who was a radio identity in Cuba, used the melody he created to weave in lyrics that reflected current events of the day. The song was so strongly identified with him that he didn't even try filing a copyright for it till many years later. As for the OP's claim that Marti was the greatest writer in the Spanish language, many would argue the more plausible case for great writers such as Miguel de Cervantes or contemporary authors like Gabriel Garcia Marquez. There's no denying his standing in Cuba culturally, not least his significant role as a martyr for the cause of independence, but claiming he was the greatest writer in the language is stretching things a bit.

I am suffering deep sadness and God sent me this to lift me up. What a beautiful display of unity and love. Thank you. Love is all we need!
Bless you.
@@charlesenglish8617 , this kindness you've shown gives me hope. This song and your reply have most sincerely lifted my spirit. Thank you

Dear Lisa,
I am so happy to read that your spirits have been lifted due to this song along with my small contribution.
GOD has very much to do with this ,thank you LORD.

The old lady dancing in the beginning of the video is simply pure cuteness. I went to Cuba in 2014 because at that time I lived in Guadeloupe (French West Indies). I can say that in Cuba I met the most kind and warming people, always enjoyed and ready to help in any way they could. ❤❤

This is by far the best version of Guantnamera, I´ve ever heard. And have you seen the old lady dancing at the start of the video? Just beautiful.
SkeligMichael I totally agree with you.
The little girl dancing at the end was amazing too
It's no accident that it begins with a beautiful old woman, and ends with a precious young girl. They're the best parts.

(Castro Alves).

Exactly
