Those are the wrong clamps to use. Always want to use the spring clamps that you don't like. I know they're a pain the ass but at least they'll hold the hose in place and won't break your radiator spout like you would if you use the other clamps and over tighten them.
    But great video. Thank you!

Theres a tool for that clamp.. it is amazing how easy it is when you have that tool.. that tool it why they are tough to get to with a pliers.. because the situation is set for the correct tool. I spent 30 mins fighting with a clamp and pliers once.. that's when I decided I'm getting the correct tool.. and it tool less than a min to get off with the right tool.

They're called CTB clamps: constant tension band clamps. Yes they're a pain in the assembly (!!) But they are much better than screw type clamps because they hold a constant tension even as the hose expands and contracts with every heat cycle. Screw type clamps eventually loosen up. Also CTB clamps can be faster and easier if you have CTB pliers which can be found for 20 or 30 bucks.

I now understand why you don't like those spring clamps. For the lower end of the hose it was difficult to get the bottom side over the ridge at the same time as the top. However, spring clamps for dryer vent hoses are nice.

Nice video! Will check my battery tray soon, '02 model, 75K miles. This helps a lot. . . tricky purging the system of air.
