The traditional afternoon tea experience is priced from £65 + 12.5% service charge.
UPDATE (Jan 2020): The afternoon tea at Savoy is now from £75 + 12.5% service charge.
I booked this afternoon tea to celebrate 1000 subscribers or as I like to call you 'my fellow dessert lovers' and it was the right decision. The lovely team at the Thames Foyer gave us a beautiful box of delicious chocolates from their Tea Shop.
Apparently, they also do chocolate masterclasses there, which I might try in the future.

I had afternoon tea there in 1972 it was about £1.
IT WAS NOT EXPENSIVE ! 😀
Omg
I have many afternon teas there mid 1980's it was definately not £1 back then! I can assure you!!
😂😂😂😂
That's about $220 US ! Little known bit of trivia: London cabs (the traditional ones) are made with very close turning circles specifically so they can make the turn in the roundabout in front of the Savoy, which was originally just for carriages of course.
Yeah, I love it but it's a pricey experience for basically a mid-day snack! Go to Vienna and get a slice of Sacher torte and a cup of coffee for about 8 euros!
@@lizleapin1835 not the same!
@@narellemacpherson6451 maybe not, but if you have that kind of money be my guest! Well, actually, let's go dutch!
I was going to ask about the price per person then I saw the bill. i'm glad you included it.
Congratulations on the growth of your RUclips Channel! I am not surprised because your videos are outstanding and delightful! Keep eating your way around the world!
Nice touch with the unpacking at the end. Also, the bill can be a recurring part, it really is helpful to grasp the price range :)
I've really enjoyed your afternoon tea videos. The notes I've been taking will help me serve afternoon tea to my friends - many miles from England! Thank you!
Everything looked elegant and lovely 🌺
Very tasty too!
Blissful Arrogance for the kind of classy place and price, it can indeed be elegant and lovely.
The mini lemon poppy seed loaf looks divine. What a special experience
This was One of the best experiences I had on my birthday trip to London a few years ago!
Hi, I have been working at the Thames restaurant for more than 2 and half years, was nice to see this video
Gorgeous I loved tea time ,British tea style is so elegant. Thank you so much 💙🧚🏻♂️🦋⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wow
I get to see the London through your channel. Keep it up!
WoW. That was amazing. My father in the early 60’s worked there. Thank you!
I am a penny pinching cheap skate, but I would definitely do this tea ☕️
Thank you for a stunning video as well!!
All your afternoon tea videos and other videos are perfect. Just the right amount of time and content👍👍👍..Great job..
My favourite afternoon tea in London. Instead of the cake course my Husband upgraded to high tea and got eggs benedict. He said it was the most delicious thing ever. I opted for the cakes. Absolutely amazing.
Beautiful liked everything about it and look at how many people are there Speaks volumes
This is amazing. We are learning about the different teas and the high tea environment. Thank you for this informative video.
This is definitely something to bucket list. Ever since throwing fancy tea parties with my friends as a kid, I've wanted to try a high tea. Never could afford it when I lived in England (and I see the prices have certainly not gotten any better) but one day for a splurge it would be amazing!
Beautiful 😍 Afternoon tea in London is always something. Every place has its own character and presentation. I enjoyed tea time in London and now I do the same here. Greetings from Ireland 👋
⭐Very classy! Worth every pound -- you get what you pay for! Thanks for posting.⭐
Every time I see the bill, I’m shocked it’s so expensive.
You have to be a rich Middle Eastern guy in order not to gasp.
Hitogokochi You’ll always find people who love to throw their money away to show how wealthy they are, and my mother used to call them Nouveau Riches. It’s like the old cliché of someone burning a bank note to light his cigar. Real people lead a comfortable without showing off, wear vintage clothes and will never, ever, mention the word money.
By the way, I had a delightful high tea in Hong Kong, great service and music but no being the Savoy the damage was no more than 30 USD. Later on I felt really guilty because everything was so good that I finished all the trays and two pots of tea.
You can blame mass tourism for the high prices. The irony is that years ago when only the well off could travel regularly the prices for afternoon tea at a top London hotel were very reasonable. Now it’s becoming a thing to do they cash in on the popularity, can’t really blame them, you don’t have to go to the Savoy etc there are plenty of other options at less than half the price.
Come to india ..
From an average salary people do not comes to savoy.
I would love even just a really good scone and a nice cup of tea.
Make your own scones, lovely recipes on YT. 😃
@@willow9526 especially with the time we have now 😂
Great video! I can’t wait to visit Savoy!
When I saw the bill I just about passed out, lol. Glad you both enjoyed yourselves. Thank you for the video!
I am adding this place to my bucket list! Thank you!
Love your videos. Food looks scrumptious.
You maintain a very high standard of work. Bravo
Great filming and narration! Thank you for sharing!
I must revise my answer to the question, "What would you do if you won the lottery?" This experience would definitely be on my list! Haven't been to London since 1977 when it was Queen Elizabeth's silver jubilee. A beautiful city and would love to return some day. Thank you for posting this!
Hi,
I really like your channel and the simple way you present and talk.
I hope we can see more of your luxury afternoon experiences
Thank you
Looks lovely. And that was a lovely touch with the chocolates. 🇬🇧👌❤️
I truly enjoy ur afternoon tea videos....Thank you! NEW SUBBIE!!!
Looks lovely inside 😊, I wish to have tea there one day.
Greetings from Connecticut, USA. Lovely video. Lovely music. Lovely, amazing color. I look forward to more.
Congratulations! Ao nice of The Savoy to give the chocolates
Do they sell these chocolates?? Can you purchase them online??
Thanks!! 🙌🤗❤️
I just subscribed. Everything about this was indeed stunning! Your wife has a lovely smile.
Great video!!! Thank you! I made the Scone that is served at the Savoy at home. Not only was it visually beautiful, the taste was unlike any scone I've had before.
Continue having fun eating at these spectacular places.
Do you have the link? Those scones don’t look like any others I’ve had or seen served. But they look so delicious!
I think they're steamed in ramekins, rather than baked, given the side profile.
Great concept of videos. Thank you for doing that. Great inspiration. Greetings from Utrecht
Enjoyed this video!
Amazing thank you for the video
The bar is absolutely stunning it's original 1920s lalique glass and the meals are extortionately expensive but as a very very special occasion it's more than worth it I can say that with a great deal of certainty because I've been there
Now this looks fabulous
💕Oh goodness... Yummy!
What gorgeous scones! (The plated desserts look amazing, it's that a good scone is far more rare in my neck of the woods.)
Some beautiful slow food movement, worth the cost!
Very nice indeed! Congratulations!
I hope you pick up many more subscribers I always like your personable way of presenting, genuine love for your dessert and different places. Savoy looked the most elegant one. Maybe a bit more detail on what you are eating. Good you include the prices and good they boxed up uneaten cakes. Keep making the vids.
I would have appreciated watching you breaking into those pastries, to see the texture on the inside etc.
I love watching your videos. I can live vicariously through you until I can make it to London. What amuses me is the shock and horror of comments regarding the bill total as though it is for sandwiches and cake. Just the experience and atmosphere and the chance to immerse yourself in the luxurious surroundings is well worth the price. People drop that amount for a sporting event or a day of skiing. I would much rather have an hour or 2 of refined elegance.. a gracious memory that would stay with me forever.
Thank you for your videos. I love to learn new things.. it´s culture!! Even though it´s expensive, I think that it is worth the experience at least once as a turist
Wishing to hace the afternoon at the Savoy, once more again. I love it!
_Classy!_
For 152 pounds sterling and indoors seating, I can do way more on my balcony for a fraction of that: Paul mélange de desserts with my Earl Grey loose tea, no other place could provide me my version of luxury
Yep !
Just give me a mug of normal tea,
and a cookie without 24 carat chocolate chip studding, and I'm happy ! 😆
Agreed, but it is really nice to treat yourself just with the experience and atmosphere of posh places :)
@@syeungmin6204 Sweetie, you probably need the dream world escape right now. And It's a good one. Having tea with Kate and Victoria at the Savoy would be nice. Even slumming it at the ritz....
But not for me. 💖
@TheRenaissanceman65 you think people are able to go to Savoy or could afford flying to London to go there ???
It's ridiculously high priced. Russian oligarchs heaven!
Such an enticing video. Thank you.
Your videos are just perfect
What a lovely experience at what is, in my opinion, London's best hotel.
Amazing video ! Keep going 👍
I would love to have tea at these places. I had afternoon tea at Grand Floridian (Disney World Hotel in Florida) and it was wonderful. It was years ago so I don’t remember the price except I thought it was worth it for the experience.
I stayed at the Savoy back when I was still an airline employee and had a free voucher. The most luxurious hotel I have ever stayed at, 5 star for sure. I remember the doormen were dressed in tuxedos.
English tea with fresh made scones, homemade strawberry jam and clotted cream.
The best 🇨🇦❤🇨🇦
Loved it!
I just subscribed to your channel. It is excellent.
1:32 great to know they allow customers to enjoy their services with casual wear
One of our favourite places in London.. been 11 times 😊
Thank you for showing the prices on your videos--this is helpful (in a date/time context) and most do not show this important part of the experience. ..
More afternoon tea videos yaay.
London is a fantastic place you can feel rich and opulent for onéreux very funny Nice atmosphères
Excellent!
One of the best hotels in London, and having traditional Aftenoon Tea here is definitely one of the best luxury experiences anyone can enjoy while in London.
Prefer Claridges or the Dorchester...the savoy tries too hard, the others don’t need too.
Wow!!
Nice tea
Yes I like place
I love London
Congratulations on your channel and 1,000 subscribers. If you ever venture out of London for afternoon tea,I highly recommend the city of Lincoln and Lady Rose’s Edwardian tea shop. It’s a unique experience with the best scones you’ll ever taste. Savoy’s didn’t look too great to me but Mr Gearing’s are heavenly. ❤️
Hi Julia, Thank you very much for the recommendation. I've looked it up on the internet and it looks very nice. I will definitely put it in my list of places to visit!
I’ve got to agree, coming from this county. We have in my opinion some excellent tea rooms and all reasonably priced
Wonderful
Absolutely Fabulous Darling
You're amazing my new friend excellent your RUclips channel, best regards from Argentina Buenos Aires.
Lovely to see you featuring your wife in your vid :)
Next time in London I will visit bc of your suggestion, thank you.
Yes make sure you reserve a place upto 6 weeks before ....
Very nice !
Thanks for the share - we're about to upload our full experience! It's a must do for sure. Interesting music selection from Epidemic Sound track "Ain't Nobody Like You" ... we used it for our Alaska vlog series where it fit like a glove.
Just found you! Subscribed! I live for dessert!
It makes the life much sweeter.
Nice 😍
Stunning tea at Savoy.. prescription..the brothers Grimm..🧙..👀
Very good reviews !
Amazing. My brother in law worked as a Pastry Chef at The Lansborough and Mandarin Oriental in London. He now owns his own place Wood Cottage Pastries in Felsted. You will get this standard guaranteed. Yummy but thanks for sharing 👍🍰🥧
Tea at the Savoy is my dream.
Have you considered doing the Afternoon Tea on a bus tour by B Bakery. While its certainly not The Ritz or Cartridges its unique and fun. I'm sure your viewers would enjoy the novelty of it. All the best.
Hi Eric, thank you for the suggestion. It is in my list. My plan is to finish some of these traditional afternoon teas and then move to this 👍
We had an amazing afternoon tea and journey on the bus, delicious & highly recommended
You should try Afternoon Tea at the Great Scotland Yard Hotel, desserts in particular are simply fabulous!
You need to come to the Windsor Court hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana USA. EXCELLENT TEA
The Savoy is an experience in itself, afternoon tea is something to savour here. I would suggest you allow a little extra money and arrive in a black cab. The door staff are very attentive but so discreet too, they usually ask if you are staying but if not they will ensure you are seen by the staff and helped with your needs. The Savoy is never cheap but you can enjoy it irrespective of your means, the afternoon tea is probably the best in London and so you can rest assured it won’t disappoint you. The atmosphere is very friendly but discreet too. With the piano playing in the background it has a buzz all of its own. If you have the time after you have enjoyed the tea you can go and have a good look around the hotel and enjoy its charm. The decor is excellent and the cocktail lounge is worth a visit too. The small shop sells very good quality stuff at a reasonable price considering it’s right in the heart of London and an iconic place too. The rich and famous have been here before, it could be your turn too.
Subscribed . Very nice video
I enjoy this video, if only there is a technology that I can taste it remotely, anyhow I will now subscribe in your channel, thank you for sharing the Savoy expirience
Great videos! Did you have a preference between the Savoy and Ritz afternoon teas?
Thanks, Richard. They are both excellent and I loved both. But there are small differences. Not really in the food. In my opinion, Ritz has a more glamorous atmosphere. It has one of the strictest dress codes in London. So, the whole experience is very professional and beautiful. I would recommend this to someone who never experienced a proper 'expensive' hotel afternoon tea and wants something special. It also has drawbacks. Space is smaller and they turn things around quite quickly. I've been there three times and I always felt a little bit under pressure to leave after an hour and a half. So, now, if I want to have some hotel afternoon tea experience with great service and amazing food but also to be able to feel a little bit more relaxed and hold some private conversations with family or friends I go to Savoy or Claridge's. But then again, we keep coming back to the Ritz with my wife again and again. It is nice to properly dress up time to time and get some 'royal' treatment.
That is a lot of money for that afternoon tea. Wow!
People forget they are not there just for a 'cup of tea'. You can get one of those anywhere. You are there to experience a tradition, time period, long passed. A touch of elegance. Yes, my home is comfy and I don't mind my thrift store mugs. I also wouldn't mind sitting down in a setting of such elegance and experiencing a timeless treat I will only be able to afford once.
Far better value at The Ivy, Leeds, and I guess London, too. You're paying for the possibility of celebrities or businessmen being on the next table. Hardly value for money. And the scones are steamed. Hardly traditional.
Can we order dessert only? Thanks for all the information and quality video!
We have the afternoon tea buffet all-you-can-eat here. I want to try some. It might be cool even it doesn't fit our lifestyle.
100% like
It`s not surprising that the Savoy`s afternoon tea is so good. For many years the hotel was not only the finest in London but one of, if not the best hotel in the World. It went down a bit for some years but has now been revived and is back on top again, up there with the World`s best. Btw - jam first seems to make more sense to me :-)
Paul, I've tried both ways over the years and I honestly can't taste a difference. Also, if something escapes your bite it's still a small mess on your chin or chest, whether it's jam or cream. What does the Queen do?
I remember the Ritz having a luxury afternoon tea, but I'm told other rooms are now sometimes nicer. Don't know.
