    Nothing NOTHING smells like the beautiful combination of leather and oil like an air cooled 911!

    Looks great. Had a 1988 Carrera when I was in Germany with the Army and got it up to 150 on the autobahn. Regretfully I sold it when I got back and now drive a 2017 Carrera. Can’t beat the 911 at any age. Thanks 😎

      Good Eye! It quit a few years ago one day. I suspect 25k miles ago. These SC variants are incredibly robust cars and excessive miles doesn't seem to matter much to the integrity of of mechanical components, suspension, body or interior if you maintain them and don't abuse too much. Thanks for your interest.

    You are certainly braver than me, my SC is stored for up to six months to avoid the cold. Heat in the cab is great as you point out, maybe a few extra pre winter runs are in order. Well done video, and thanks for pointing out the Ferrari models, will help as I’m always asking the Ferrari guys which model theirs is…

      Thanks, Joe! I really like the fall/winter/spring driving seasons here in the SE. Summer is just too warm for me so store the car for a couple month at that time.

    I have an 18 gt3. Be careful with cold temps. The rear tires like a little heat for proper grip. I only put non ethanol gas in my 911. I get 20 or less mpg in my 500 hp car

  • @JoeEngineer
    @JoeEngineer Год назад +1

    That easy cold start in those temps and the gas mileage blew me away. Im sure I get way less as my foot is always buried in it. 🤣

    • @classicperformance
      @classicperformance  Год назад

      Joe, I was surprised by the MPG too. The cold temps probably help that compared to warmer humid temps of the summer... however not always true. See my C5 corvette winter and summer MPG runs of that same route. Thanks for the interest!

    Shell or chevron 93, id never put QT gas in my tank unless it was an emergency. Maybe I’m crazy but I can feel chevron in the pedal. Beautiful car. Not a fan of silver gauge rings. Man, those Ferraris would be so cool if they had a manual transmission.

    • @classicperformance
      @classicperformance  Год назад

      I have had a difficult time finding 92 or 93 octane in non-ethanol. If I am running a full tank through I will do a quick fill with ethanol but never leave the car stored with ethanol fuel.

    I'm sure running it hard at 85mph and 3000 plus rpm for at least part of the way made a huge difference in your fuel economy.
    The heating system on these, I think, is pretty much like the VW Beetle. It's been over 40 years since I've been around one but I think they just have ducting that gets heat off the side of the engine blown through by the cooling fan on the engine itself or does it have a blower up front on the Porsche?
    Where does that temp gauge read from? Is it reading the oil temp?

    • @classicperformance
      @classicperformance  Год назад +1

      cabin heat comes off both exhaust heat exchangers and has an engine blower fan as well as a cabin blower which I hardly ever use. The engine temp sender is on one of the cyl heads. Thanks for asking!

      Yes, the Guards Red Cab is still around. I am picking up the seats from the trim shop next week (hopefully). It made a short appearance in the "911SC" walk-around upload recently... @ 10:25 mark. Thanks for your interest.

    What kind of speedometer is that? Its not stock for the car.

    • @classicperformance
      @classicperformance  Год назад

      I do believe it is the stock speedo for North American delivered cars. Yes, Yuck on the 85mph and the needle stops moving at indicated 90MPH just past the 85 mark.
