Fritz I'd move down a bit. Some recency bias there.
Fritz spent 7 years at Tulane and won 8 or more games only two times.
I'd also move Dykes down a bit(and I played for his Dad!!) but his time at Cal wasn't great then last year was really down.
    Agree with that top 4.
So tough to do these rankings with 16 teams and in a conference with so much net change.

Lance is not “just happy to be there”. Absolutely not. He got a standing ovation as he walked into a resturaunt following a close loss to OU in year one. He turned to his wife and said, “We gotta change this. Losing close is not okay.” He said day one that he came to win championships. He knows what that is too because he’s 6 though dismissed because it was D3. In some ways similar to CK.
Something else that i think is overlooked about Coach Leipold is that he took the winless roster he inherited in year one and has beaten the over every year without the massive house cleaning undertaken at other schools. He’s done some portalling, but mostly just coached better.
One of you said it right, any of the coaches could be picked in most any order depending on the preferred criteria, and maybe the results of the most recent season.
It will be interesting to see how the imbalanced schedules play out and the influence on the narratives.

Gus Malzahn inherited a team that was 0-8 in SEC West in 2012, next year Auburn plays in National Championship game. Name one Big 12 coach that could have done that. Gus was 3-4 against Nick Saban. Auburn won National Championship in 2010 with Gus as OC. Big 12 is loaded with great coaches. Has any Big 12 coached accomplished what Gus Malzahn has accomplished?

Malzahn should be above McGuire and Fritz as he has power conference success on his resume. When all three still need to prove it where they are, the resume wins out.

    • @josephterrell2835
      @josephterrell2835 3 месяца назад

Malzahn is a tough one. He was everyone's coach of the year back in 2013.
His highs are off the chart high.
At the same time, he has had a bigger budget than anyone on the list relative to peers.
And he is only 3-7 in Bowl games.
He felt placed about right to me however if Jefferson is Cam Newton light than he can take UCF to some great places.
BUT only if that defense tackles folks this year.
Malzahn lost a 14-0 lead versus McGuire last year in head-to-head with bowl eligibility on the line and I might give McGuire the edge just due to that and Joey's 2-0 Bowl record.

@nicko5945 I've said the kyle is a good coach and program. My main deal is the pac 12 hasn't been the strongest league since utah has been in. When comparing gundy with kyle, look at top 25 wins last 10 years. Gundy is top 5 national. Kyle has played over 10 less top 25 teams. Reason he has played less is pac 12 have had less top 25 teams.
Gundy is like 10 and 2 against pac12 with his best win against number 4 stanford. There has been a few year oac 12 only had 2 finished ranked.
Gundy had to build osu football. Osu had bad teams. 1988 to 2005 we had 4 bowls. One year we had no wins. Kicked guys off the team from les miles team. Complete rebuild. Osu as a program was under 500.

Actually, more people has osu winning the big 12 then ksu. There are more people who have ksu go to the title game. Out side of Manhattan not many have ksu winning title.
Im not sold on utah yet. By schedule and respect i have them at 10 and 2. By vegas they play 4th team and no other in top 6. We heard about their run defense despite baylor ran nice as the worst big 12 run offense. Osu and at least isu or ucf are loses. They could go 10 and 2 but not go to the title game because of the schedule.

  • @kenneaderhiser7768

He has done more. Poor wording, but main point stands. Is he a Power conference leader? That is as open a question as it is with Aranda.
He doesn’t strike me as that type. As of now he is football version of Bruce Weber, who also took another coach’s players to a national title game.

  • @kenneaderhiser7768
    @kenneaderhiser7768 3 месяца назад

So Dykes is like 99% of coaches, not fired yet. Maybe he proves me wrong. He just seems like Robin at this level not Batman.
    My question for tomorrow:
Utah, K-State, ku, Arizona and Oklahoma St seem to be the consensus Arlington Candidate tier of B12.
What are questions each need to answer positively to get to Arlington? Not that they can’t or won’t answer them, but they are unanswered right now that can deny them a CCG spot?
K-State: Why do they give away games each year. Seems like they needs to lose an expected W to find their resiliency. That was not a good culture that came out against ISU.
Their bye week plans need tweaked and they have two. I have those over new QB and OC but I’m tougher on my team.
ku, losing Liepold’s 11 year OC is a much bigger deal than people think. He hasn’t had to worry about OC for a long time. And defense is still a question that has not been answered completely.
    AZ: New HC is obvious.
Ok St: It hasn’t been back to back great seasons like it used to when he would go 9 plus 8 of 10 years. Critics point to getting K-State and OU at home, but he did get the wins. Is Gundy back to stringing together top seasons again?
Utah: Fewest questions. I need to research my question but based on the description of Cam Rising, is he a bring you back from down QB or a very good play with a lead QB. I really don’t know ow enough. But not many other questions there besides having to go week in and week out physical opponents. That is a fair question because mostly, they delivered Big 12 style toughness, but didn’t receive it every week.

KUs D has improved every year. Even last year against a tougher schedule. Gotta find a rush-DE, but that’s been the question for the last 3 seasons which has been answered better and better each season. There’s atleast a trio of 4* candidates this season.

I mean, Gundy and Whittingham have been coaching for the same amount of time and almost have identical records. Gundy is 166-79, Whittingham is 162-79. Can't really act like it's a robbery to have Gundy above Whittingham and this is coming from a WVU fan that's impartial to OSU or Utah.
