1:43:10 Saying he's running it as a legitimate hotel on the side and then detonating the whole place at the end really shows how psychotic he is outside of the trivia.
Fun fact about 2:12:04 is Oz didn't even read the prices for the food right! Also, in Pennsylvania, we have Wegmens and Redners. He called the store he was in "wengers" lmao I'm from PA, his whole campaign was a joke! If you ever get a chance, watch the messages to doctor oz from Jersey's famous people, some of them are so funny, but the whole idea behind them is really petty and hilarious!
If anyone is curious about the literary devices question (1:12:00): Polysyndeton is "the use of several conjunctions in close succession, esp where some might be omitted". IE "He ran and jumped and fell and died." Dramatic irony is the trope Chilled hates because it's been used so often and so poorly that the 'drama' is forced and unearned a lot of the time. Deus Ex Machina is "God in the Machine" and is when an author has written themselves into a corner and pulls something out of nowhere to keep the plot going. The name comes from old Greek/Roman plays where the gods would literally intervene to save characters. Breaking the fourth wall is when characters in a fictional medium refer to the audience or otherwise acknowledge they are in a fictional setting.
🤔 I see. So for Chilled it’s like the isekai genre in that so many people use it poorly that he hates it despite technically being an effective narrative device. Thanks for explaining what they meant BTW. While I already knew all of them besides polysyndeton I’m sure some of the people reading this didn’t. 👍
oh man... this day was a perpetual hell for me but those first 15 minutes of this video... haaahh gods needed the laughs. Thank you chilled and crew for your screwed up madness and jacked up humor.
I wish I could catch more streams and enjoy it live, but I suck at it, but at least RUclips is always here. I do appreciate having these videos to watch; and VODs for the things that don't make it here.
Ear Wax is probably the game mode with the highest highs, but also far more often the lowest lows. At least with this many people at least one person is likely to make a funny combo, but man, it really is something where you remember the funny combos you've made in the past and so want to play it again, then you play several games and just aren't given any decent sounds and just give up.
I feel like if you're blowing up a boat to get a helicopter's attention to get you off of a desert island, you probably should've just use the boat. xD
Chilled, you're thinking of just Blade, the Wesley Snipes movie, that's based on a Marvel property. Blade Runner was based on the short story Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
Man, I wanted to forget the sounds for the diaper buffet 😂😭 Still had fun even with the mild trauma and it was super awesome! And it was even fun when I got judged for the whole dating my high school best friend's ex, I swear we're all still friends 😂
1:48:27 Larry was behind Chilled lmao, and Kat way behind and had to roll, so he also had to roll unless she way overshot it, so he wasn’t close at all 😂
I was thinking it was 2 different sessions, and this definetely was. In one part he talks about his thoughts on the wonka movie, then later during the willy wonka question, they talked about the wonka movie that was about to come out.
I feel it would've been even more fun to see Chilled's 'device' point of view during some of the Trivia Murder Party minigames, like the math one and "tap longest word", etc. Not all of them, but those that wouldn't spoil things for the viewers (like the greed one?). Not sure how much work that would go into showing/hiding that scene between each minigame, though.
Fun fact, it's still a trope, because in the realm of literary tropes, choosing to use dramatic irony is a conscious choice designed for artistic effect, making it a trope
I don't think Chilled knows what exactly Dramatic Irony is. It's not the characters being dumb (i.e. doing stuff so the plot can happen) or misunderstandings or forced conflict. Dramtic Irony is not "lazy" inherently. It's a corner stone of comedies and tragedies. Though of course like any trope it can be done in a lazy way. From a certain point of view DI appears in many stories. The audience knows it's a story and its genres but the character most likely don't know. So characters in a horror movie don't act like they know they are gonna get killed by a monster or that said monster is even real.
The problem of not having dramatic irony is most series would’ve been ‘asspulls’ instead. The problem of it is how many times it’s done horribly and is the only thing, and it’s frustrating
Just here to say: 3:37 The bubble bath + ducks for NPR is perfect That station is newsy, but its told in like the most chill way possible. The gibberish + angry voice combo, I understand why it won the popular vote, but it would better apply to almost every other radio station outside of NPR, haha

Yeah earwax can be very hit or miss with the prompts
5:26 im imagining someone desperately opening and closing a squeaky door to get a helicopter's attention
And then when it doesn't work, slightly irritatedly saying help at a reasonable speaking volume.

I know right? It’s a classic narrative device that tends to make people freak out and/or yell at the characters
