We moved from the states to the Philippines Sept 2010. Best choice we ever made. Our daughter now is 3rd yr at UPLB and been on President's List of Scholars all 4 semesters.
I am a Brit. I first visited the Philippines 26 years ago when I was living/working in Hong Kong - a short trip for a long weekend. My Filipina wife of 7 years, whom I met in HK, and I moved here permanently 4 years ago with our son and we live with my step-daughter and niece. We live in Rizal Province. We have property, investments, income, savings and a profitable business. Fortunately, our coffee shop and sari-sari store are right next to a hospital so we have guaranteed through-traffic. We rent out the bed-sits, that we built next to the store, to local nurses. I was doing well in HK but my wife persuaded me to move here permanently. I am glad I succumbed. It is always good to see others doing well. I agree about the garbage!
AM SO HAPPY FOR U............I CAN TELL U .FILIPINOS WHO WORKED IN H.K...........ARE A CLASS ABOVE THE REST.............SPECIALLY IF THEY CAN HOLD THEIR JOB FOR MORE THAN 5 YEARS...........U ARE THE 15% LUCKY ONES...........BE THANKFUL NA...
a real Filipina once they loved thier husband who is a very good husband never expect that they will leave they stay for richer and poorer Mabuhay Filipinas
Most Filipina dream of a happy family so they will do everything not to have a broken family that’s why we do not have divorce here we value family 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
Unless, of course, your Filipino husband has a drug-habit and a mistress and deserts you while you are a pregnant teenager. Meanwhile, years later he is awaiting a payout from your foreign boyfriend in order to not contend the annulment. I'd rather pay the immigration fees to stay here than give him any cash. I'm not going to 'buy' my wife. Not exactly 'family-minded' or placing a 'value' on family, is it? when you need a foreigner to come in and pick up the pieces and give your wife and children a future. BTW we are around the same age and have our own child together, born in HK, so we don't breach any of the Philippines ridiculous "adultery' laws. I also support her daughter while she tries to better herself at university. Family values? Go ask Daddy and his family where his values are.
if you are doing right, don't think negative about divorce..Divorce is for separated only and living with ugly husband cheaters. but good woman and man divorce is a choice..
Total rubbish. You have no divorce because the bloody Catholic Church is far too powerful & is mixed up in the politics of the Philippines. It messes peoples lives up, is anti-freedom, takes no account of abused wives who end up trapped with a tyrant. Take your rose colored glasses off: the Philippines is the only country in the world that doesn’t allow a divorce. Kick the Catholic Church out of politics & the Philippines will be a far better place to live.
Full time in the PH 10 years now. Adjustment period for sure, but we planned well. Never going back to the States. Retired at 45. Married 18 years.. there are a lot more long time expats than most realized.
That advice is good: "Do not look"! After travelling the Philippines several times, I ran into my perfect wife ba k in Switzerland. That happened by absolute conicidence back in 1988. We got married quite quickly and are very happily together ever since. And we have two wonderful children who are both over 30 years old by now. Honestly, I am very happy that I gave up the idea of having a successful business in the Philippines. The country is lovely, but I am contented travelling for vacation only. I have travelled the country very exensivly and often in an adventurous style. Now that I start being older, I am getting lazier. I am lucky that my wife's family comes from a good background and many inlaws work and live in many countries. But amazingly enough they do not return to the Philippines for good even after retirement.
Looks like Ayala Mall. We love that mall. Everything he said about cebuano people is true. My wife is a Cebuana, and she is the best human being I have ever met. To men watching this video and reading this comment, head to Cebu.
@mpoiya I met my wife in Illinois, not in Cebu. So I wouldn't know who's looking for what. All I know is I have a great woman compared to the AMERISLUT i wasted 13 years of my life and tens of thousands of dollars on.😃
Good stuff👍. I have known Geoff since 2005 and what he says here is so good and so spot on. Especially looking for a wife. Just let it play out and happen. Geoff's wife runs a really good real estate company. Intelligent and sweet woman who knows real estate business. Amazing how I am just looking through YT and see Geoff's face. Made me smile as I have not seen him since 2018. Great interview!!!
I moved here in 2005 because we were having immigration issues with getting my wife to Canada. A wife is not cheap labour so we were looking at 3-4 years wait time. I was homesick for a while, however, as life unfolded, a beautiful child came along my homesickness subsided. I was planning on moving back once Junior graduated from his International school to enroll him in a Canadian University. Since 2015 Trudeau's regime has pretty much destroyed everything left great of Canada, I am never going back. My son can choose once he's finished school in 2 years. I have been strongly educating him on the insanity of Canada and its Wokeness now. The Philippines is great as long as we don't adopt those insane Western ideologies.
Some already have adopted insane ideologies and its becoming more and more accepted in Phillippines with the man boys running around. They watch a lot of TV and get ideas and idealize western culture. hey think everyone is liek in the movies they watch.
This was a very good interview Alex with a lot of information if you listen closely. If you can find the right Filipina your life will be great, if you find the wrong one not so much. Best advice I've gotten is don't go to the Philippines to find a women go there and explore and to enjoy nature and certain opportunities will arise. Also listen to your gut. If it doesn't feel right gracefully exit the relationship.
When I went out there, lots of friends and went out with a friends family, and her family paid. I had to keep trying to pay for myself, people just kept giving me stuff-whilst walking down the street, lots of people offering drinks all the time to join them to drink, and lots of smiles and compliments. Provences are awesome

"Don't Look" Yup. I was at the mall the first morning I was in Angeles. My now pregnant girlfriend had just gotten off work and she happened to come across me as I was sitting outside the restrooms. I was drinking my coffee and needed to wash my hands afterwards. She sat down next to me and asked me to watch a large bag she didn't want to carry into the restroom. When she came back, I asked if she could tell me where the store in the mall was to buy a sim card. I had no signal on my phone so she looked it up for me. We started chatting and when she asked if I was alone, she invited me to go along with her and her co-workers to the beach in Subic. I said yes and I spent the whole day with all of them at the beach. She ended up spending my entire vacation with me and I made a whole group of new friends in Angeles. Now we are expecting our first born in February and working on getting the visa set up. Nothing was planned or forced. Everything happened naturally. Simply amazing.

Would appreciate the opportunity to correspond with Jeff, your guest, about real estate in the Philippines. Thank you for today’s discussion. Grateful.
Two major downsides to living in the Philippines is medical care and education for children. There are a few decent private hospitals in Manila but quality is only comparable to average hospital in the US. But Traffic sucks in Manila so deciding where to live is a problem. If you have kids, will need to send to private school as the public schools are overcrowded and not good.
Moved to PH from Canada and stayed for 7 years (dual citizenship). I got homesick. I miss the 4 distinct seasons of Canada. On the whole, I prefer the climate in Canada despite the cold. I especially missed spring season - flowers and you can smell the earth after a long winter. In the PH , it's mainly hot and ridiculously hot. It's nice to not rely on air conditioning. Also, Toronto is multicultural so I missed not seeing the multicultural tapestry of Canada. In Manila, you only see Filipinos and maybe Chinese and that's mainly it unless you're in a touristy area. Other positives for Canada are cleaner air, less traffic, free healthcare and can't forget those polite Canadians.
Thanks for sharing it’s wonderful to hear about Happy stories from expats. I heard many of the same type of stories on my visits to Vietnam and Thailand from expats. Again thanks for sharing very encouraging and enjoyable ✌🏾.
Unfortunately I was scammed for 5 million pesos by a Filipina from Japitan in Barili Cebu. I'm trying to get my properties back through the legal system
Sorry to hear about your situation. If you want to eve have a video call to talk me and I'll share it on the channel. Or a live stream, let me know Email me at talknowcanada@gmail.com
This gentleman is the first one to come up with the corporate route of property ownership that I've seen interviewed thus far on ANY Philippines video. It was the first thing I thought of; Online businesses can be owned in totality by foreigners, 100% ownership. Just set up a web store online selling digital assets. Register the company with you as 100% owner. Appoint yourself as CEO. Buy land under the company. Build a CEO dorm. Presto- 100% ownership of your house and property via 100% ownership of the corporation. It's so simple, I don't know why it's not the first thing people do. Maybe there's some tax issue? Like your corporation has to pay annual asset tax on held assets?
@@Livingabroadalex Future content for you brother, go and interview a legal professional like Filipina Pea does. See if there's any way to make this corporate route work.
I would agree I met my wife in HK 47 years ago been married for 47 years this year. we lived in the UK for 30 years until our children grew up then moved here in 2008, and I have never looked back our kids still live in the UK but I would never move back there.
My wife and I are trying to figure out where to settle down, I love the Philippines and she is crazy about a not so safe South Africa, I seriously don’t know what to do. Currently we’re both working on a cruise ship and are planning to settle down soon. I hope i can convince her to let us stay in Philippines 😢 I am entrepreneurial and good with business, I see many opportunities for us there.
After 20 years in any of these south east asian countries, it's amazing when you look at urself and realize that the 'you are always a foreigner' or 'always just a guest' concept is very true. It stays true right up to when you die.
SOME OTHER FOREIGNERS ARE LAZY IN THE PHILIPPINES THATS WHY THEY ARE COMPLAINERS BUT IF YOU SHOW RESPECT TO PILIPINOS THEN YOU WILL HAVE GOOD PROTECTION THEN YOU WILL HAVE A GOOD LIFE WHERE EVER YOU GO.
I am an Australian and have a Philippina wife. We were introduced through Philippino Australian friends. We live in Australia permanently, but are looking at buying a coconut farm in the Philippines for the family. This is my third marriage. First two were white Australian women. Terrible people. My Philippina wife is fantastic, she is much younger but it doesn’t matter, she genuinely loves me. She has a 7 yo daughter, I have a 20 yo son. Life couldn’t be better for me. We have improved each other’s lives immeasurably.
1:03 - 1:15 This. I live in Los Angeles. Not that there isn't any kindness here, but it's rare. There is also a clear moral decay here in the US. I'm not that old -- I'm in my 30s. But I cannot see myself settling here in the US for the long haul after experiencing the culture in the Philippines. Everything there is better, imo. Want to go to a beautiful white sand beach? It's an hour flight from Manila. Do we have that in the US? No. Flight to Hawaii is five hours, and it doesn't even compare to the beaches in the Philippines at all. Lanikai comes close, that's it. For the interviewer, you gotta let the subjects speak more freely without interruption. It's a learned skill. Go listen to Joe Rogan now. He has gotten better. You gotta let the subjects talk. Chime in when there's dead air, not while they are in the middle of sharing.
I know a 100 yr old travel writer who's been to virtually every country in the world and many of them several times. He says Phillipinos are the nicest people in the world.
That would be Thailand, but Brazil is notable second and been to 25 countries. Philippines will smile to your face BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT underneath is a different story.
First experience from a fellow Brit. I am 69 engaged to a teacher. We have met a couple of times face to face. Chat everyday Got caught with an online crypto scam. Busy building bank balance that will satisfy immigration so that we can marry.
True, Filipinos are genuinely friendly and trustworthy. Shame they get mistreated in HK, I live here. They make HK nicer to live in, only HK ppl make it horrible.
I was lucky to marry a Pinay whose siblings all have more money than I earn. So I was never expected to partly sponsor anybody's school-fees. I support poor people in the wider neighborhood every Christmas instead.
agree.. nicest people in the world.. if you are nice to them... and a decent person.. if you act like a dick you will not last long in most places in SE Asia.. have some friends from phillipines in HK and they are like family to me, never asked me for a thing.. nicest people I have ever known... this guy has the right attitude to 'make it' in Asia.. SE Asian countries appeals to many westerners.. for many reasons.. some have the right attitude to adapt to life out there and some do not.. it definitely requires the right attitude to 'make it' out there!!! great interview, asked questions some may avoid!! nice one!!

20 years of living in the Philippines should have made you learn how to speak in Tagalog/Filipino and some local dialects. Just like what Americans and Europeans expect when you live in their country. You guys are so lucky that Filipinos are very hospitable If not then we will be brutally honest to tell you that you need to learn our language as a way of showing respect to our nation and not learning the language is a disrespect.
I am Brit, first visited Cebu 30+ years ago,he is wrong about one thing, yes lots of pinay nurses in the UK but not lots of Pinoy doctors, there’s a tiny number of Filipino docs registered in the UK.

Understandable concerns. But like everywhere else in the world, money solves your problems 😅
great advice!
I like the way this he talks this man coz very honest and casual and no sugar coating ...1 of the best i saw here
I agree.
Thank you for all your effort and hard work... your content is enjoyable and easy to watch.
Thank you for watching and commenting. I'm glad you enjoyed the video 😊
Well said. Canada is still my home. I do miss it often
Same here. 😢I miss Canada but my Canadian husband is tired of the snow so…🤷♀️
Clean air is very important to me
Unconditional love is also amazing
Maybe you should go to the province fresher air cold place is here in the cordillera
Good interview ❤
Thank you 😊
Thanks for sharing it’s wonderful to hear about Happy stories from expats. I heard many of the same type of stories on my visits to Vietnam and Thailand from expats. Again thanks for sharing very encouraging and enjoyable ✌🏾.

So they are the same situation with Adam and Jane Adam came from UK...i hope they'll see each other
If you find a good Philippina and she loves you , you'll have a great relationship and or marriage 😊
🤣"If you find a good phillippina and she loves you". I'm sure if you find a Leprechaun you'll be happy as well.
If if was a 5th we'd all be drunk
She will love your wallet and that's about that🤷
@@Globus7791 Thats a fact. Im tired of these clowns acting like Filipinas are wholesome or have values. Its all fake BS.
@@jensz9360 well they are trapped so they want the other people to step in that shit as well🤣🤣🤣

This gentleman is the first one to come up with the corporate route of property ownership that I've seen interviewed thus far on ANY Philippines video.
It was the first thing I thought of;
Online businesses can be owned in totality by foreigners, 100% ownership.
Sounds too easy. If it's too good to be true. It might just be.
Interesting still
@@Livingabroadalex Future content for you brother, go and interview a legal professional like Filipina Pea does. See if there's any way to make this corporate route work.
@TheK-PopInPublicAuthority Thanks, but too many videos like that out there.
Tax benefits might even be better if the corporation is under/owned by a trust.
I live in Thailand for 25 years been with my g.f 12 years , Asian women are some of the best women in the world. ❤
I agree👍
I would agree I met my wife in HK 47 years ago been married for 47 years this year. we lived in the UK for 30 years until our children grew up then moved here in 2008, and I have never looked back our kids still live in the UK but I would never move back there.
Nice i interview Geoff.
What a great down to earth chap. :)
Send her to Nigeria for a holiday.
That will cure her
I plan to stay in Thailand for 6 months, with the language barrier I am considering coming to Cebu
You'll enjoy both. The language barrier is becoming less of an issue with the younger generation Thais and new technology etc
my wife been in usa 9 yrs, I’m 60 yrs old, our son 👦 is 8 yrs old. My wife is 33 yrs old.
After 20 years in any of these south east asian countries, it's amazing when you look at urself and realize that the 'you are always a foreigner' or 'always just a guest' concept is very true. It stays true right up to when you die.
I think it should be obvious even before going. And I don't see it as a problem; I love being thought of as a polite, contributing foreign guest.
We should have the same mentality in the West
@@patienceobongo Yes.

I meant to not allow foreigners to own property or become citizens.
great interview
Thank you!
He has some good stories to tell Alex very insightful being married to a filipina is helpful when starting a business here. Take care 👍🆒😎
❤
Definitely. I'm sure it'd be more challenging as a foreigner without Filipino connections
SOME OTHER FOREIGNERS ARE LAZY IN THE PHILIPPINES THATS WHY THEY ARE COMPLAINERS BUT IF YOU SHOW RESPECT TO PILIPINOS THEN YOU WILL HAVE GOOD
PROTECTION THEN YOU WILL HAVE A GOOD LIFE WHERE EVER YOU GO.
Thank you for sharing your story
Moved to Baguio City, no regrets. Nicest people i ever met
Amazing story I can't imagine that he don't want to come back in UK,,,and leave long life in the Philippines,,but it's good desicion
Yo, Jeff I remember him a really cool and respectful guy. I used to work in a pub in Cebu, that’s where I meet Jeff.👍
Thanks for sharing!
First experience from a fellow Brit. I am 69 engaged to a teacher. We have met a couple of times face to face. Chat everyday
Got caught with an online crypto scam. Busy building bank balance that will satisfy immigration so that we can marry.
Fantastic !!!
Yeah, he got it. Filipinos are the most friendly people on earth. They would help you and trust you first before they'd suspect you of anything.
You are a very smart guy,
2 decades impressive hope you've good experience still loving life in.pinas
Don’t go back Jeff, the UK is going down the pan fast. You are definitely better off where you are!
Know this guy from way back, hope to catch up with him in January

agree.. nicest people in the world.. if you are nice to them... and a decent person.. if you act like a dick you will not last long in most places in SE Asia.. have some friends from phillipines in HK and they are like family to me, never asked me for a thing.. nicest people I have ever known... this guy has the right attitude to 'make it' in Asia.. SE Asian countries appeals to many westerners.. for many reasons.. some have the right attitude to adapt to life out there and some do not.. it definitely requires the right attitude to 'make it' out there!!! great interview, asked questions some may avoid!! nice one!!

I have 3 daughters, all different moms. one went sweden 2 with me. i love it.
That's harsh
Lived in the Philippines for 3 yrs still have two business there
I am Brit, first visited Cebu 30+ years ago,he is wrong about one thing, yes lots of pinay nurses in the UK but not lots of Pinoy doctors, there’s a tiny number of Filipino docs registered in the UK.
Very good answer. Don't look. It will come to you.
Did you learned some Tagalog words sir? Youve been here for 20 years wow that's great
I hope these foreigners adapt the Filipino accent, it would be really cool to hear 😅
KIND YES. BUT ALSO A HUSBAND MATE IS PROTECTION FROM NOT HAVING ANY MONEY AND FROM NOT BEING PHYSICAL ABUSE BY MATE OR MEN OR HUSBAND SADLY COMMON ON PHILLIPINES
