I purchased my 2015 GTX 260 iS Limited in late April of 2020 with 54 Hours on the Clock (I love my iS Suspension Ski). During my last ride at around 195 Hours my Ski broke a 10mm x 110mm Stainless Steel Bolt that secures the Aluminum Starboard Side Footrest to the Front Suspension Pivot Tube. This is the only iS Suspension Failure my Ski has had (still has the original Wiring Harnesses and are Fine), I attribute the Fastener Failure to Galvanic Corrosion caused by Dissimilar Metals in a Salt Water environment and to accumulative Metal fatigue. I currently have the Top Deck removed to perform the needed Hardware replacement. While I have the Top Deck removed I plan on Rebuilding the Supercharger (again / Maintenance), performing the Ribbon Delete Modification and performing General Maintenance and Inspection (all of which can be performed by only Raising the Rear of the Top Deck that is relatively easy to do). Randy AKA randog311 (Retired Professional Wrench / Audi's are my Specialty / BTW: These Suspension iS Skis are way easier to work on than Audi Automobiles)
Oh man !! What a pain in the butt taking that top off ! Can't wait for part 2 of this video 👍🏼 , == 6 oil changes = bummer .... Frozen in here in Austin ~ Sea Doo Life 👍🏼 . Can't wait till warmer weather . 👍🏼
With really bad water in the oil situations. We use to do an old school trick and it always worked. We even impressed a Kawi rep when we had an ultra 250x that was one of the first to have the hairline cracks in the cylinders to allow water in. So the trick is to use red off-road diesel fuel. The red is just to see it better. But a gallon of fuel is much cheaper than oil. The diesel fuel will wash all the milkshake out in about 3 flushes. After each fill, start and run for a small amount without revving, then remove just like a regular oil change. Then start to refill with regular oil. Might have to do 2 changes with regular oil just in case there’s some extra diesel fuel left. We had did this with the Kawi rep then removed and tore apart the engine right away and he was impressed bc the engine was totally clean inside of any contamination. Worth the try bc the engine is already in a downward spiral at that point.
Diesel fuel is an excellent lubricant, the flash point has its own challenges, but I believe it would be a safe alternative to flushing with oil. You really don’t have to run the engine for very long, because it’s already at a very low viscosity compared with 10w-40 oil.
I miss my AS260 suspension . It was a pain in the ass servicing it but the ride was so good on a rough day . The RTX is a beast and it handles superb but it's not the same smooth ride .
Great video although it just reminds me of what I have to do after the summer on my 12 x aS. Fun fun. Did it once and had a few hiccups but as you stated, you have to take your time. Thanks again for the video. Great job!!
They look like a pain to work on but man do they have a nice ride. My dad has a 2017 GTX S(without the intelligent) 260 for him he is older and cant really stand up and drive so its perfect in that situation. It’s not as playful as the other skis but its a nice cruiser. I have a 2021 GTX 230 myself but I dont mind riding the 260. Its biggest downfall besides working on it is its a little top heavy so with more then one person on it becomes very tippy.
Tell me about it! My daughter and I flipped my ‘12 as260 two weeks ago. Just got the instrument cluster back from a rebuilder I’ve used before on eBay because it had a hairline crack in the back housing, and leaked enough to ruin the LCD and the warning beeper. It only takes a minute. The engine bay was bone dry after righting the ski. You’re right, water finds it’s way in eventually…
I would really appreciate if there was some way we could talk. I have a 2012 seadoo gtx s 155 and I am having a draw issue after having the whole harness replaced and I am trying to diagnose the problem by myself.
Great video as usual. Here in Spain, these suspension models are cheaper. People don't want them and now i know why. They are worst than expected. There is no free space on that hull ! We will be waiting for the part 2 :D
Hello, quick question - I have a Seadoo GTI 130 year 2015 and the main wiring harness should have a problem. The exact problem ist that the ski is turning on normally, I am riding and then its shutting off, after 10-15 seconds its starting normal and this happens maybe 3 times a day. Sometimes its working for the whole day, sometimes it shuts off again. I am planning on chaning the main wiring harness - so big question do I need to take the top deck off as you did in the video? Thanks a lot I love your videos. Greetings from Europa/Austria!
Wow! That’s a complete Cluster F###k! Fantastic video 👍 your attention to detail is amazing, quick question, while you had top off would you not do everything to it? Carbon seal etc?
Great videos and awesome personality. Yes I work on jet skis in Florida all day long the torch is never not in my hand. Nothing is worse then that suspension they did for 2 years and realize that that was the stupidest idea they ever did
Is it ok to use an oil other than XP-S when you’re flushing water out of the oil the first five tries? Seems like it’d get (6 x $59.99 = $360) pretty expensive in a hurry!
I only use Rotella T-4 15w-40 in my Sea Doo. The only reason it's Marketed as a Diesel Engine Oil is due to the Zinc Content (Zinc is said to be harmful to Catalytic Converters which my Sea Doo doesn't have), Zinc is Big Plus. I also use Rotella in my 1983 Suzuki GS1100ES that I've owned since new. Randy AKA randog311
Im halfway through the video and what a pain this jetski is. I feel sorry for you. And sorry for the owner too that will have to pay for you labour. Its gonna be expensive. :)
When this suspension setup came out I was like OMG what a nightmare this is gonna be. My buddy who owns a Seadoo dealership would try his best not to sell one. Luckily they were so expensive that it helped. Even the IBR and the Yamaha version is corrosion waiting to happen. Years ago Kawi used an electric trim and it always turned into a disaster. They did away with any kind of trim for years. Then it came back into the 300 ultras. Well they had problems again. How do I know, I have one. Electric, metal and salt water does not mix.
Seadoo dealerships now know the feeling when these skis come in for service just like Kawi dealers did with the 1100DI engine skis. Long road to no where.

Glad i watched. Almost bought one since it was so clean and at a great price.
Never had a problem with mine owned it since new in 2015
I enjoy your jetski videos.. Keep em coming

Now I see why the freshwater used jet ski parts I sell on eBay are always going to Florida. We do not have corrosion issues here riding in Lake Erie.
Absolutely I tell my clients and I myself buy jet ski parts from up north
Nice vid, I hope next season seadoo has their supply chain figured out already have half the money set aside for that big block spark
trabajo muy dificil, ese tipo de trabajos y tu experienca no estan pagados con dinero.
gran profesional y buenos tips.

What were the symptoms that made you decide to change the harness?
Hey tip if you use a marine oil like quicksilver you can get the water out in like 2 or 3 oil changes.. Love the videos man!

Hi, I have the same jet ski. How much you charge to do that? (Change the harness)

I have gtx is limited, and I've removed the top so many times, and now I do it in less than 15 minutes. Pain in the butt, but you can get used to it.

Here first! Are you coming with JP to Lake Norman sometime this summer?
I think Calas will be at the next HydroDrags in Taveras FL
I think I can make that happen
My friend, how can I repair the ground cable connected that screws into the spark plug ignition coil. 2022 sea doo fish pro.
It needs to be a waterproof electrical connection. It’s not a big deal.

Yes we did everything

My new ibr stopped working,.....mechanic says wiring harness is bad,.... does this sound reasonable problem? Thx all
If your mechanic says it’s bad it’s probably bad, but the main harness goes bad too
Jet ski equivalent of a higher end European car
Do you have any idea the weight of the moving deck? I bought the service manual, and it does not specify.
The cuestión is: how that water got into the oil? bad oil cooler too?
Who knows…. I to stop asking questions a long time ago it’s either a bad intercooler or a bad oil cooler or they sunk it I never get the truth😂🤣😂🤣
hey can you do a video on fuel pump switch over on this type off ski.
Im halfway through the video and what a pain this jetski is. I feel sorry for you.

Nice
How would a job like this cost? I believe my 2010 RXT IS 260 needs a new harness
I've got the same one. My is fine for now but I'm dreading anything going wrong with it. Still it's so smooth through the chop.
